Chapter 11 - CHAPTER EIGHT

Sirius had given up his white and gold robes for grey ones, plus a suit for fitting into the Wrecked city's populace. Of course it was useless because the cretins had no culture or style to them. He'd seen men and women dress almost the same and the longer he walked around the zone he'd been living in for the last two weeks, he realised the uncultured things had no robes for family lines or the different districts they lived in. Then again Citadel was filled with Earliers, who his father had taught were feeble of mind and order.

He was in a room that had been booked for him by one of the Acropolis's insiders although Sirius had not met him himself. It was a decent room as decent as Earliers could build. Besides Sirius required something less than decent for his evolution into what he was in the city for. He looked himself in the mirror wondering whether he could really become a monster; the monster who could save his own city.

"But my good heart, you already are part of the darkness, you are a devil half-way. Do you not remember? You are their monster.."

"Shut up!"

Sirius looked at his now bleeding hand watching some of the blood trickle in between his fingers to the metallic floor. The smell of copper hit him hard as he stared at himself again in the mirror. Their monster.

He'd smelt copper then when he'd woken up. It had been so strong that he'd retched by the side of the bed before slipping on the wet floor when he tried to walk. Felt like water then but when he brought it to his face in the darkness, he screamed. He'd run out of the room slipping again and hitting his head on the floor, blood smearing on his face and hair.

He'd found the child first, his daughter lying on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood that he'd thought was hers but...

Sirius reached for his gun when he heard the door open, his System scanning past the metallic walls to reveal a single scooter in front of the room. Before him stood the scruffiest man he'd ever seen in what appeared to be a tweed jacket and a dirty pair of pants. Sirius despised the clothes these creatures wore but he knew he would soon be wearing them so he made a mental note of the terrible pants and the jacket.

"Are you Sirius van David?"

Sirius clutched his gun tighter sure he had been found out. No one was meant to know his real name in this wretched place.

"Put your gun down soldier, I am here to debrief you on your actual mission and to direct you to the people who are meant to help you." The man said.

Sirius knew dropping his aim could mean his death or even worse capture.

"If you don't put your gun down, I will reach out across this room and break your hand son. Put. Your . Gun. Down." The man said.

"How do you know my name?" Sirius asked.

"Put your gun down,"

Sirius put his gun on the table beside him but kept his System on. The man took of his coat throwing it onto the bed Sirius had been using revealing an all to familiar vest. He sat at the only chair in the room facing Sirius who sat on the bed.

"You're a ghost?" Sirius asked.

"Mr. Vin David, the Royal Family, the Royal Committee, the People's Council, the Black Council and the White Council are all in support of your endeavours here. We all in this terrible city are under their command and as such now all under your command. A unit of criminals and outcasts has been put together to work with you as a crew in looking for and finding two highly dangerous viruses that were stolen from the doctor who died...a friend of yours I believe," the man looked up then his face almost softening.

"You are now Alto the Demon Knight. We all trust that your skills which precede you will help secure the sovereignty of our great city. If you need my help at all send for the Ghost of Death's End and I will find you. May the Spirits of the Cross be with you."

The Ghost of Death's End smiled slightly at Sirius.

"Do you mind handing me my jacket please?" He said.

Sirius picked up the jacket standing to hand it over when the Ghost closed the distance between them twisting his wrist in an angle Sirius did not think was possible for his hand.

"And never again raise your gun at me soldier. I shall see you Captain Vin David,"

Sirius flexed his wrist the pain still there as the man left. He locked the door after the Ghost and sat back on the bed. It was time for him to become a monster. It was time for Sirius Vin David to become a criminal.
