Those so-called wise men are nothing more than power-hungry frogs.

"As for the Shinigami responsible for suppressing the Hollow disturbances in the World of the Living," Yamamoto-Genryūsai announced, "Fourth Division Vice-Captain, Kyōraku Callum, will take charge."

Kyōraku Callum's calm expression instantly froze.

A look of incredulity crossed his face.

Why him?

"Captain-Commander Yamamoto, I don't know anything about this!" Kyōraku Callum protested, attempting to avert this decision.

"Don't worry, I'll assign you an assistant," Yamamoto-Genryūsai replied. "Considering your strength, you'll be responsible for the city most severely affected by the disturbances. I hope you're prepared." Yamamoto-Genryūsai seemed determined to assign Kyōraku Callum this task.

Kyōraku Callum sighed, exasperated. "Can I say I'm not prepared?"

Yamamoto-Genryūsai shifted his gaze to Shiba Kaien, completely ignoring Kyōraku Callum's protest. After several encounters, he seemed to have a good grasp of Kyōraku Callum's personality: exceptionally talented and brimming with potential, yet inherently lazy.

Reports from the First Division indicated that many of Kyōraku Callum's Vice-Captain duties in the Fourth Division were handled by Kotetsu Isane.

Therefore, directly assigning him this task was the most efficient solution.

Due to Jūshirō Ukitake's illness, Shiba Kaien was attending the meeting in his place. "Thirteenth Division Vice-Captain Shiba Kaien, you are the second-in-command for suppressing these disturbances in the World of the Living."

"Yes, sir!" Shiba Kaien, unlike Kyōraku Callum, was unfailingly obedient to superior orders. Yamamoto-Genryūsai greatly admired such unwavering loyalty.

Furthermore, Shiba Kaien possessed exceptional talent, a characteristic frequently observed within the Shiba family, likely due to their unique bloodline.

Yamamoto-Genryūsai surveyed the assembled Captains, his expression growing increasingly serious. "Does anyone object to my arrangements?"

Though phrased as a question, his tone brooked no dissent; it was a thinly veiled challenge: Dare to object, and face me in battle.

Kyōraku Callum had zero interest in engaging in combat with the arguably strongest Shinigami in Soul Society. He'd rather expend his energy on something more entertaining, like slaying a couple of Hollows.

The meeting concluded. However, as the Captains began to disperse, Chōjirō Tadaoki Sasakibe unexpectedly approached Kyōraku Callum.

"Vice-Captain Kyōraku Callum," Chōjirō Tadaoki Sasakibe said, "please wait a moment."

Kyōraku Callum, about to leave the First Division barracks, halted his steps.

"Uh, does the Captain-Commander have any further requests?" he sighed, lamenting the difficulties of life.

Even attempting to enjoy a peaceful existence proved impossible.

"Not exactly," Chōjirō Tadaoki Sasakibe said with a smile.

"The Captain-Commander simply wanted to remind you that the situation is extremely serious. Please exercise extreme caution."

Kyōraku Callum frowned, pausing before responding, "Thank you. I will be mindful."

Chōjirō Tadaoki Sasakibe's warning heightened Kyōraku Callum's awareness. The Hollow disturbances in the World of the Living were likely far more severe than he'd initially anticipated; otherwise, Yamamoto-Genryūsai wouldn't have issued such a pointed warning.

He also noted another significant detail: Yamamoto-Genryūsai's reliance on him seemed to be increasing.

"When did this begin?" he mused to himself. "The Hueco Mundo rescue mission?"

Kyōraku Shunsui's voice then cut through the air from behind him, followed by Kuchiki Byakuya and Suì-Fēng.

"Kyōraku, be extremely careful," Kyōraku Shunsui urged. "The Kyōraku family's bloodline depends on you!"

Kuchiki Byakuya echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of Kyōraku Callum's safety. As one of his few friends, Kyōraku Callum held significant weight in his heart.

After the other two departed, Suì-Fēng approached Kyōraku Callum.

"I-I'll investigate the cause of the disturbances as quickly as possible," she stammered, exhibiting an unusual level of nervousness. Her usually calm and taciturn demeanor was notably altered.

"P-Please be careful!"

As she turned to leave, Kyōraku Callum gently placed a hand on her head, softly saying, "You too!"

Feeling the warmth of his touch, Suì-Fēng's face flushed crimson.

"I-I understand!" she managed, quickly escaping his touch and vanishing from the First Division barracks using Shunpo.

"Tsk tsk, Suì-Fēng is far more endearing now," Kyōraku Callum commented with a hint of amusement.

"A truly enviable friendship."

A gentle voice then echoed behind him. Kyōraku Callum turned to see Aizen Sousuke's calm gaze and warm smile.

"Kyōraku-kun," Aizen Sousuke greeted.

"Captain Aizen," Kyōraku Callum replied, a hint of suspicion in his tone. "Is there something you need?"

Aizen maintained his smile, his brown eyes betraying no discernible emotion.

"The Hollow disturbances in the World of the Living are extremely serious. Please be extremely careful."

While Aizen's demeanor projected an image of benevolent concern, Kyōraku Callum knew the true source of this chaos stemmed from the man before him: Aizen Sousuke, the ruler of Hueco Mundo.

"Thank you for your concern, Captain Aizen," Kyōraku Callum replied, maintaining his composure and concealing any suspicion.

"I will be careful."

After Aizen's departure, Kyōraku Callum returned to the Fourth Division. As Soul Society's sole medical and rescue division, the Fourth Division boasted fourteen squads, comprising a substantial number of Shinigami.
