Chapter 136 - BUTZ: Chapter 136

"Hinamori is currently confined to the First Division barracks, awaiting the Central Forty-Six's judgment," Kyōraku Callum stated.

As Kyōraku Callum spoke, Hitsugaya Tōshirō's face grew increasingly pale.

"Barring unforeseen circumstances," Kyōraku Callum said, gazing up at the sky, "the Central Forty-Six should issue their verdict on Hinamori tomorrow morning. You can return and wait."

Hitsugaya Tōshirō left in a despondent state, harboring no ill will towards Kyōraku Callum, who was merely carrying out the Central Forty-Six's orders.

Hitsugaya Tōshirō's emotional state was a complex mixture of emotions.

Following Hitsugaya Tōshirō's departure, Kyōraku Callum returned to the Fourth Division. It was late, yet the Fourth Division barracks were brightly lit.

As the sole medical division, the Fourth Division's members were constantly busy. Aside from their monthly flower arranging competition, they were almost always seen rushing about.

The passing members greeted Kyōraku Callum enthusiastically upon noticing his return.

His prestige within the Fourth Division had steadily risen with each mission completed. Every member of the Fourth Division held him in high regard.

"Vice-Captain Kyōraku Callum!" Hanatarō Yamada, diligently guarding the entrance to his courtyard, called out excitedly.

"You've worked hard, Yamada," Kyōraku Callum said, heading towards his quarters. As a Vice-Captain, he had his own private courtyard, beautifully appointed and considered one of the finest in the Fourth Division.

"Um, Vice-Captain Kyōraku Callum," Hanatarō Yamada began hesitantly as Kyōraku Callum approached his door.

Kyōraku Callum turned, a hint of annoyance in his voice. "Is there something else?"

Hanatarō Yamada's expression was unusually odd, completely at odds with his usually outgoing personality, honed through rigorous training.

"Um, before you enter… please be mentally prepared," he said.

Kyōraku Callum's eyes widened in confusion. "What do you mean?"

Hanatarō Yamada seemed to recall something, his smile turning awkward, his hands waving about nervously. After a moment of fluster, he bowed deeply.

"Vice-Captain Kyōraku Callum, you've worked hard!" he exclaimed before vanishing with Shunpo, carefully closing the gate behind him.

Puzzled, Kyōraku Callum released his spiritual pressure to sense the room. "No unusual spiritual pressure fluctuations… What was that all about?"

Without hesitation, Kyōraku Callum opened the door and entered. To his surprise, the room's arrangement had undergone a dramatic change. While not lazy, he did generate some trash, tidying up periodically.

Yet today, the room was impeccably clean. The bed was perfectly made. On the table sat several exquisite sweets and a decanter of sake bearing the Kuchiki family crest.

Kyōraku Callum's expression was one of complete bewilderment.

"Was I robbed?"

He approached the table, where a sheet of white paper rested.

"Callum-kun," it read in elegant script. "Hearing you enjoy Kuchiki family sake, I procured some for you. I hope you enjoy it—Unohana."

The sight of the handwriting brought Unohana Retsu's gentle smile to his mind. Kyōraku Callum's emotions were too complex to articulate.

What was this? Unohana Retsu's way of expressing affection? It was certainly understated.

Kyōraku Callum sat at the vermillion table, reaching for the sake.

"Wait," he suddenly recalled. He stroked his chin, pondering. "Hanatarō Yamada was guarding the courtyard. That means he saw Unohana-san enter and knew what she did."

With that boy's big mouth, the entire Fourth Division will probably know tomorrow. Perhaps… eliminating him might have been a better option?"

At the Sixth Medical Squad's barracks, Hanatarō Yamada excitedly shared his day's events with his friends, until a sudden sneeze interrupted him.

Hanatarō Yamada rubbed his nose, an inexplicable chill running down his spine. He shivered.

"Go on!" his friends urged. "Don't keep us in suspense. What happened next?"

Seeing their curious expressions, Hanatarō Yamada promptly forgot his unease and continued his tale. Poor Hanatarō Yamada was utterly unaware of the significance of his actions.

Kyōraku Callum, however, made a mental note of it. "I'll just send him on a mission with the Eleventh Division when they next deploy," he thought.

The night passed quickly. The next morning, Kyōraku Callum began his usual training.

Afterward, as he prepared for his routine patrol of the General Medical Facility, he sensed a powerful spiritual pressure permeating the sky, enveloping the entire Seireitei.

Intrigued, he released his own spiritual pressure to investigate, instantly recognizing its source.

This spiritual pressure, like a vast net, covered the Seireitei. A commanding voice echoed in his mind.

Captains and all Shinigami of the Gotei 13, this is Vice-Captain Chōjirō Tadaoki Sasakibe of the First Division.

I am now relaying the judgment handed down by the Central Forty-Six from the underground council chamber.

Former Fifth Division Vice-Captain Hinamori Momo, while on a Hollow suppression mission in the World of the Living, due to her own carelessness, was defeated by a Hollow and transferred her spiritual power to a human, causing them to become a Shinigami.

She then concealed herself within a Gigai to evade detection by the Seireitei.

These actions are a grave violation of Soul Society's laws!
