Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Malevolence (X)

Master Plo Koon knew he had little time to waste. He placed his trust in the clones before him, who were fervently tinkering away at what little machinery they had available to create a working communication device so they could make contact. They were rushing about, serious looks hung in their eyes.

"This wire should go here, shouldn't it?"

"Hey, how do we know if moving that wire isn't going to make things worse?", A second clone said, starting to argue with the first one. They could be seen floating around near a fuse box of sorts that remained mostly intact, surprisingly. Due to having no gravity in space, they had a hard time trying to rewire it, as they had to keep their bodies still at the same time.

Master Plo simply looked at the arguing clones, deciding to provide them some wisdom.

"When you ask for trouble, it is more likely to come to you first.", Master Plo said to the clones, causing them to pause. Yet once he said that, he felt a little ripple. It was as if someone was trying to reach out to him. The ripples steadily grew larger, like droplets of water being released from a dam, only to suddenly gush outward, forming a river.

'M-Master Plo?', A familiar voice boomed, echoing inside Master Plo's mind, causing it to stir. Despite the zero gravity, Master Plo sat cross-legged, tuning into the Force. The clones saw this action of Master Plo weird, but they knew their current orders, to get the power back online as soon as possible.

'Little Soka? Ahsoka is that you?', Master Plo tried to communicate, reaching out with the Force himself.

One nifty ability the Jedi have was the ability to use telepathy. They had to remain focused to use it, but they could reach out to other force-sensitive users as long as they were within range. If it was just two regular Jedi, they wouldn't have as strong a connection that Master Plo and Ahsoka share. With enough concentration, the two could project their thoughts out, not just through silent intentions. That's how close the two shared a bond, despite it being against the Jedi Code. Plo Koon knew where to keep his boundaries, and never favored Ahsoka during her training at the Jedi Temple. Ahsoka was more unstable as far as attachment goes, but right now, this was treated as a gray area. She knew how to live her separate life without being too attached to Plo Koon.

'Master! I knew it. I knew you weren't dead!', Ahsoka's voice said, directly inside his mind. The telepathy link was successfully established. The clones saw Master Plo suddenly enter a meditation stance, causing them to get distracted with what they were currently doing.

"What's the commander doing now?", The leading clone questioned. This clone is Commander Wolffe, who was in charge of the 104th Battalion. Several battalions composed of a single legion, to which the likes of Captain Rex would lead, and that was the very same clone Samus met back on The Resolute. Compared to that, there were a couple differences in ranks, but starting from Battalions, one would see Jedi be assigned to these clones. These clones were part of Master Plo's fleet, or what was left of it, anyways. It wasn't looking good for them, but unlike a few moments before, they had made some progress with their tinkering. And yet, the clones couldn't help but get distracted by Master Plo's sudden actions. It wasn't every day they would see him sit down cross-legged inside a rescue pod.

"I do not know Commander, but we've our current orders. We need to focus here. What about putting this wire into that one?", Boost said, who was one of the two clones beside Commander Wolffe. He raised another wire, which was loose. The Commander shifted his gaze back to his troops, quickly shaking his daze aside.

"Not that one you dolts. Here, this one ought to do it.", Commander Wolffe said, suddenly taking even more wire. Both of them saw the Commander plug together what appeared to be a thick, insulated cable, much different from the previous wires they were trying to connect into place. These cords often assisted restoring power through a manual connection. With the two ends plugged in, the three clones paused. One moment passed, then two. The clones waited on, waiting for something to happen.

As for Master Plo, on the other hand, he was deep within his thoughts, unaware of what was happening around him.

'Little 'Soka, to think you would actually use the Force to reach out to me like this. Should I be impressed, or worried? It isn't often we Jedi communicate like this, but perhaps it is with the bond we share that allowed this connection to happen.', Master Plo said. He felt comforting waves strike against his mind, acting as a soothing balm. He knew he had successfully reached out to someone, and it was the same person he had brought to the Jedi Temple long ago.

'I felt the same way, Master. It is really good to hear your voice again, even if I had to do it this way. Initially, I was too focused on scouting you through my eyes, but with a little push from an unexpected someone, I was able to calm my heart, and reach out to you like this. I am meditating on their ship as we speak. Honestly, we aren't far from your current position.', Ahsoka said, explaining what had happened to reach this present point.

'And here I thought you didn't like to meditate. Perhaps being assigned to Anakin is serving you well after all, Little 'Soka.', Master Plo said.

'You know I've been assigned to Master Anakin? Granted, we've not really met each other that much since I've become a Padawan, but news travels fast it seems. We've come to rescue you Master, and whatever remains of your fleet.', Ahsoka responded.

'I knew you would. I never lost hope. And it looks like you aren't the only ray of hope to reach out to us.', Master Plo suddenly said. He kept his eyes closed, but he suddenly heard the clones excitedly shout.

"W-We did it, Commander!", Boost excitedly said, hearing the hum of the power turn back on, letting the rescue pod return to life.

'We've just restored power to our pod. We will try to send out a signal so you can latch onto it. I will warn you, we are not alone out here.', Master Plo warned.

'I know, Master. You aren't actually the first one to tell me that. It was that bounty hunter who did. They were the one to calm my emotions, allowing me to meditate and reach out to you. I'm not...exactly here on Master's terms. Kind of? It's more of a contract, if anything. But you needn't worry, Master. The Republic is sponsoring it!', Ahsoka said, trying to explain what was happening from her end. After she had that little talk with Samus, Samus recommended she use one of her chambers to meditate, and use the Force. Coming back to now, that is indeed what had happened, and the connection successfully established as a result.

'A bounty hunter, is it? It isn't often you get to see one form good relations with the Republic. If we get out of this mess alive, I would love to meet them, given the chance. Especially if they're working alongside you, Little 'Soka.", Master Plo said. 'But time is cutting short, we need to divert our energy now to relaying that signal to you. Please wait just a little further so you can grab our location. We've not much time left.'

'I got it, Master. Good luck!', Ahsoka said, before cutting herself off from the Force.

Back on my gunship inside the main chamber, Ahsoka's eyes suddenly flipped open, smiling.
