Synopsis
"When adults exploit and corrupt children, there’s only one thing left to do. Break that twisted world apart. With a punch." This is Kivotos, a colossal city where countless academies gather under one sky. Within it exists a special task force established by the president of the Federal Student Council. A young man works there as a teacher under the Federal Investigation Unit known as SCHALE. His name is Mash Burnedead. And just like every other day, he protects his students the only way he knows how — by punching out the bad adults. Mash is ridiculously strong, practically unstoppable, and he's planning to knock out a few members of Gematria while he's at it. The story takes place about a month before the main events of the Mashle series begin. Unlike the original version of the teacher, this Mash gets directly involved in his students' problems, no matter how messy they are. Some parts of the story will differ from the original, so please keep that in mind.

Translation: Prologue - The Beginning of the Story

Mash Burnedead and the Transparent World

"…It was my mistake."

Where… am I?

"This entire situation—born from my choices."

Um… who are you?

"To think it took reaching this point to realize you were right all along…"

Is she not hearing me? I was just doing my usual strength training in the forest… Oh, right! I tripped and hit my head hard. When I came to, I was here… Um, you're bleeding—are you okay?

"How presumptuous of me to ask this now, but please, Sensei Mash…"

Wait, you know my name? Are we… acquaintances?

"You'll likely forget everything I'm saying, but that's fine."

"Even if you remember nothing, you'd probably make the same choices in the same situation…"

"So, what matters isn't the experience—it's the choice."

Choice?

"We once spoke about those who bear responsibility, didn't we?"

"I didn't understand back then… but now I do."

"The responsibility and duty of an adult. And the choices you made, extending from that."

"What those choices truly mean in your heart."

What is she talking about? I don't understand, but… somehow, it feels like I do know.

"So, Sensei. If it's you—an adult I can trust—then surely, at the end of this twisted, warped path, you'll find…"

"…the choice that leads to that outcome. So please, Sensei… I beg you to—"

I don't know what kind of relationship we had or what we've been through… but you're hurt so badly, and you're pleading with me like this.

I'll do it.

…Huh? My consciousness is fading… Wait, please, at least tell me your name!

"Tell you…?"

A young man awoke in an unfamiliar room.

Touching his body to confirm he was alive, he scanned his surroundings. The vehicle he'd been riding through the morning sunlight was nowhere to be seen. Outside the window, a clear blue sky stretched endlessly, framed by stone skyscrapers rising like a forest of towers, overwhelming him for a moment.

(Wow, those buildings are tall… But where am I? Who was I just talking to? What was that place, that person?)

He tried to recall the scene, the words spoken by the girl, but their meaning eluded him, shrouded in a haze of memory. No answers came.

(Oh well. It'll work out somehow.)

Shaking off his doubts, he reassured himself everything would be fine. Rising from where he'd been lying, he began to move his body as he always did.

(Yup, my body's working fine… I have no idea what this place is or what's going on, but for now…)

"Let's do some strength training."

Why?

A lone figure hurried down a chilly corridor, sighing heavily. To the untrained eye, the city outside the window seemed ordinary, but it teetered on the edge of collapse, weighed down by mounting problems.

"Why did it come to this…?"

Rin Nanagami, a girl with long, slightly bluish-black hair, adjusted her glasses and quickened her pace toward her destination. Her steps betrayed urgency, her face etched with unease and frustration, a bead of sweat trailing down her cheek.

"Why did the President disappear…? Without her, we—"

Cutting herself off, Rin paused to collect her thoughts.

It's fine. It'll be okay. If I can just talk to the person waiting ahead, everything will work out.

"Calm down, Rin. Right now, you need to explain the situation to Sensei and change this mess."

Reaching the room, she steadied her breathing and knocked on the door.

"Sensei, it's me. Sorry to keep you waiting… Sensei?"

No response. Puzzled, she opened the door—and the sight before her left her speechless.

"Huff-huff-huff-huff-huff-huff-huff!"

A muscular young man in black training gear was doing push-ups at a ferocious pace. Each movement sent gusts of air swirling through the room, kicking up dust.

SLAM!

Rin shut the door and leaned against it, removing her glasses to rub her temples. A single thought escaped her lips.

…What was that?

It was understandable. Moments ago, this seemingly normal(?) guy had suddenly started exercising the moment she looked away. And despite the intensity of his movements, his face remained completely expressionless.

(Wait, wait… It's just strength training. Just exercise, right? There's no reason to be confused or surprised. It's just a human working out! Yes, exactly! No need to close the door!)

Gathering her resolve, Rin flung the door open again to confirm what she saw.

"Huff-huff-huff-huff-huff!"

"What are you doing?!"

"Oh, strength training."

It was a bicycle crunch, a core exercise:

Lie on your back. Bend knees at 90 degrees. Open elbows, hands behind head. Alternate bending and extending legs. Touch the opposite elbow to the bent knee. Repeat on both sides.

Typically, 15–20 reps per set, three sets total, to build muscle. But that wasn't the point right now.

"What kind of strength training is that?"

"It's for building perfect abs."

"Why now?"

"I was bored, so… Oh, the key is to keep your elbows open and avoid tensing your neck when it gets tough." Swish-swish-swish!

"That's not what I asked! And please stop for a second!"

"Sure." He stops instantly.

(He stopped immediately… Why isn't he even sweating?)

"Oh, hold on."

The young man reached into his clothes, rummaging for something. A water bottle for hydration? A protein shake? A business card for introductions? No—what he pulled out defied Rin's expectations entirely.

"You need protein within 30 minutes of training."

"Why is there a cream puff in your pocket?!"

A perfectly fluffy, uncrushed cream puff.

"Why are you eating that now?!"

"You gotta get protein within 30 minutes after training, so… cream puff."

"I… see…"

Rubbing her temples to stave off a headache, Rin gave up on further objections. With a cough, she adjusted her glasses and finally got to the point.

"Anyway… do you understand where you are?"

"Nope, not at all," he replied bluntly.

"Your memories seem muddled. Let me clarify. This is Kivotos, a city of academies. I'm Rin Nanagami, an administrative officer of the Federal Student Council, the city's governing body."

"Kivotos? That's a strange name for a city."

"We need you to serve as the advisor—or 'Sensei'—for SCHALE, a special task force established by the Federal Student Council President."

"Sensei…?"

"And to confirm—you are the adult recommended by the President to serve as SCHALE's advisor, correct?"

"Uh, I'm actually just a 16-year-old kid."

"…What?"

Mash Burnedead

In a world where magic is everything, he's a boy who can't use magic at all.

But here…

He's just an absurdly strong human.
