Chapter 65 - Chapter 65: A Mission to Kuoh Town

"We've received an invitation to participate in the Peace Conference for the Three Factions," Suì-Fēng said, pointing to an elegant black letter adorned with golden patterns, sealed with an inverted cross and six wings—the symbol of the fallen angels.

"The conference is scheduled for a month from now, as the factions need some time to prepare… and also to deal with any potential uprisings caused by the spread of the news," Suì-Fēng added in a serious tone, though her eyes never left Ren's face, which she hadn't seen for over two weeks.

Since her arrival in the human world, she had been busy, her movements limited, buried in Division 2 reports. But now… and now only, standing in front of him without the blindfold she was used to seeing him wear, she felt the force of his presence strike her heart in a way she hadn't admitted even to herself.

Ren stood calmly and confidently, utterly indifferent to her gaze, while Suì-Fēng couldn't ignore the strange attraction she felt… his handsomeness was different—not loud or attention-grabbing, but quiet, overwhelming, and unsettling to anyone who lingered too long.

Ren placed the letter back on the small tea table in front of him, his mind recalling memories of the past days—especially his struggles with the Six Eyes after merging with Gojo's card.

Thanks to Adaptive Physiology, his brain had begun to adapt to the Rikugan, that multidimensional energy perception that sees everything. And because the card didn't just elevate him to Gojo's level, but pushed him further, the results were far from simple.

The resulting power wasn't just a normal fusion; it was a terrifying exponential increase—as if 1 + 1 = ∞.

During the first three days, Ren suffered from a relentless burning headache that no medicine or spiritual treatment could soothe. Even the original blindfold did nothing, as waves of energy, information, and even "unspoken thoughts" around him overwhelmed him.

Fortunately, now as a member of Gotei 13, he submitted an urgent request to the Technological Development Department to create a blindfold capable of suppressing the senses of someone at Captain-class level.

Surprisingly, they completed the development in just three days. It exceeded his expectations—they had apparently used a combination of compressed spiritual energy and frequency-blocking technology in its creation.

The new blindfold could suppress 70% of his senses, allowing him to manage the remaining 30% himself and avoid falling into the chaos of total perception.

He had started a daily routine of removing the blindfold for two hours to allow his mind to adapt, gradually increasing the duration until he could manage six continuous hours without difficulty—a remarkable feat for someone with Six Eyes at this level.

"So…" Ren said, returning his gaze to Suì-Fēng, "what is expected of me?"

"Your role is to go and live in Kuoh Town, where your transfer papers and everything will be prepared. You will move to Kuoh Academy to monitor the situation there and report any suspicious activities or behind-the-scenes plans, as the conference location has been decided—it will be at Kuoh Academy," Suì-Fēng said, her tone firm as she issued the order from a higher rank. "I was the one who nominated you for this mission, as I trust that you can handle yourself safely if anything happens. Do you wish to go?"

"Hmmm…" Ren murmured, closing his eyes as he pondered what he would do, curious about the other factions since school was starting tomorrow. "Fine, but while I'm away, some Onmitsukidō members should be sent to protect my family, along with two others."

With that, Ren picked up a pen and paper and wrote a specific address: Moonlight Cafe. Akiko was pregnant, and although the city was relatively safe thanks to numerous Shinigami patrols, he saw no harm in adding an extra layer of protection for them.

Suì-Fēng took the paper silently, glanced at the written address, then looked up at him and said calmly:

"I'll send a team from my unit immediately… no one will harm a hair on their heads as long as I command their protection."

"Good," Ren nodded, rising from his seat, pleased that Suì-Fēng hadn't questioned him much. "I'll head to Kuoh Town in two days."

Ren had no objection to going to Kuoh Town to see the wider world, especially since he didn't have to stay there permanently and could return occasionally, as he needed to report to Suì-Fēng.

"Alright, everything is already prepared. All you need to do is stop by my office in two days to get information about your residence and more details about your work. You're not the only one going to monitor; this is also a preliminary test for the peace conference, to see how everyone reacts if all factions coexist," Suì-Fēng added, staring at Ren's broad back as he left.

"Make sure everything is prepared for two people, as I'll take my maid with me," Ren said before leaving Suì-Fēng's office. Amagi would accompany him to Kuoh Town, as he was used to having her around for the past two weeks and a bit more.

But now, the priority was to talk to the old man and the others at home; he wasn't the type to leave without informing his family, especially since they knew about the supernatural world—except Rui and Hina, as Tsukiko didn't want to tell her daughters, and no one interfered.

"Dealing with Yuzu and Karin is going to be extremely annoying," Ren murmured, putting the blindfold back on with a faint smile. Despite his words, he was happy with his younger sisters' care and attachment, even though Yuzu was more attached to Ichigo while Karin was more attached to him.
