Chapter 12 - Near The Ends Of The Ruins

[CONTINUATION]

James Belfork acquired 3 low-level ghosts in the ruin.

James looked at his system menu to see what he could use the ghosts to do. As he looked through his system menu, James saw that his ghosts could do a few useful things for him.

James resenrtment skill allowed him to control artificallically made ghosts, amonsgt the things James can use the ghosts for, he can use the ghosts in a few interesting ways.

James can use the ghost he has to give himself an extra life after dying, as he's artificial ghost can take damage fromJames's body, and during this process, James doesn't take damage or can instantly recover from damage taken, at the cost of he's existence. James can also use the ghosts as his eyes and ears, basically allowing him to go anywhere, so long as he has enough mana to feed the ghost to use the skills.

(SCENE)

James finishes up looking over what he can do with the ghosts, so he tries to absorb one of the 9 orbs he has, to see what he could get from he's Gluttony skill.

James activates his Gluttony skill and takes out one of the orbs from he's storage, so he can absorb it. James held the orb and started to absorb it. When James finished absorbing the orb, he acquired 2 new skills from it.

One of the skills James had gotten from the orb had been 'Stealth', and the other was 'Shade'. The two new skills James acquired allowed him to go unnoticed when in dark or light places. The skills complemented each other as Stealth was a good skill to basically go invisible, while Shade allowed for one to hide in others' shadows.

(SCENE)

James continues on he's way to exit the ruin after he acquired he's new skills.

James left the graveyard room and decided to continue following the path Ein gave him so he could clear the ruin in the fastest time. Along the way, as James continued going down the ruin, when he was only a few floors away from clearing it and getting out, so he could get his revenge, he came across a new, unique monster on the 3rd-to-last floor of the ruin.

The monster James came across seemed to be mutated (Mutated monsters are monsters that have gone through significant change, and are often 10x - 100x stronger than their non-mutant counterpart).

When James came across the monster, Ein told him to keep his guard up, as those types of monsters are often overwhelmingly strong, and even full armies struggle to win against them.

James took Eins' advice to heart, as he didn't want to die (again) before getting his revenge, so he used the 2 new skills he had acquired, so he could avoid the mutant monster.

As James was using his skills and going around the monster as if he were just taking a stroll. The monster suddenly looked straight at him, as if it could see through his skills.

After a second or 2 of James standing still as can be, as to not draw more attention to himself, the monster looked away. When the monster looked away, James closed his eyes and exhaled slowly before trying to continue on his way.

As James took his breath and inhaled before continuing down the ruin, when he opened his eyes, he saw the mutant monster right in front of him, staring straight into his soul once more. This time, however, instead of standing still, James jumped forward to try and escape with the utmost of haste.

(SCENE)

James jumped past the monster, but still kept all his skills active. When James looked back for a second to see if the monster was behind him, he saw that it was still there, in the same spot, looking at the location James was in.

Instead of thinking about why the monster wasn't following him, James decided to go past and ignore why the monster is acting the way it is.

James eventually gets to a part of the ruin on the 3rd last floor, where he can go down a set of stairs to go to the 2nd last floor.

At the staircase, James decides to take a short break and look at all the skills he got on the 3rd-to-last floor.

James Belfork: "System Menu."

James' System screen shows up in front of him after he speaks.

Ein Felheart: "Are you checking up on your skills again?"

James Belfork: "Yeah, just wanna see what I got from my Gluttony skill on this floor."

Ein Felheart: "Well you killed a lot more monsters on this floor than the previous floors, so you should have some good skill, but while your at it, why not finally take a look at the items you got on all other doors form the treasure chests?, they might be very useful since you'll have to fight a boss monster on the last floor, especially since it'll likely be as powerful as that mutant monster we had to run from earlier."

James Belfork: "Oh yeah, I might as well check on my equipment and the items I got first, while I'm at it."

James takes a look at his storage space, and takes everything that was inside of it out, one by one, and uses his appraisial skill, so he can see what's good, and what he'll use his Gluttony skill on later, so he can save space.

(SCENE)

James took all the equipment and general items in his storage and started to appraise them. Among the things that James had taken out, he found 2 legendary pieces of equipment and 1 mythical grade item.

The 2 legendary pieces of equipment James acquired were a ring that amplified dark element, magic power, and a dagger that could pierce through magically reinforced metal.

The mythical item James' go was a named sword that could be upgraded. James found the sword on the 3rd floor in a hidden room, in front of a dark skeleton.

The mythical sword James had found had good attributes and could grow with its user, and even increase the power of skill, regardless of what they are, and it was a named sword; however, James couldn't see the sword's name, since his appraisal skill was low level.

After taking a good look at the sword, James decided to use it as he's main weapon, as he liked how it looked since it was a long Japanese-style sword with a black and purple glow, with good attributes and stats, and it reminded him of a sword a character in some old Anime he used to watch used.

After looking over the sword, James decided to absorb all the useless equipment he had with Gluttony and take a look at his skill after doing so.

(SCENE)

James takes a look at the skills he has acquired along his way towards the end of the ruin.

James opens his system menu on his skills section and looks at how many skills he has.

As James looks through the new skills he acquired, he finds a few really useful skills that would be of great use to him in fighting the boss at the end of the ruin.
