The spring breeze brushed against his face, messing up the hair on his forehead.
He 'opened' his eyes.
In his vision, patches of light filtering through the shady woods danced before the eyes of a blue-haired girl with braided pigtails, making Allen feel that her gaze was a bit too dazzling.
He couldn't see her face clearly.
Subconsciously, Allen blinked and looked to his side.
There was a tree next to him.
The bark was rough; he could 'feel' its grainy texture without even touching it.
There were words carved into the grain.
[Rudy, Sylphie, and Allen's territory.]
In an instant, Allen realized where he was.
The hillside in Buena Village.
He was stunned for a moment, his mind feeling foggy. He couldn't remember what he was doing just now. How did he suddenly end up just staring off into space here?
Well, that's fine.
Roxy was right in front of him.
He'd just ask her.
With that thought, Allen turned his head to look at the person opposite him.
White hair, reddish-brown eyes.
It was Sylphie's face.
It was as if the blue hair and blue eyes from a moment ago were just an illusion.
Right now, in the spring breeze, her white hair danced. She stood with her hands behind her back, in the same pose she usually used when waiting for Allen at the Greyrat house, and looked up at his surprised expression.
Her lips parted.
"Chirp."
The sound was crisp and pleasant, like the chirping of birds outside a window on a spring morning that wakes you up.
It was so natural...
Wait, what?
Natural??
Thud!
Allen's foot slipped, and he shot up from his chair.
He opened his eyes.
An exquisite desk, a burnt-out candlestick, a letter on the desk covered in dense characters.
He blinked and turned his head to look out the window beside the desk.
Two birds were perched on the windowsill, looking curiously at the man who had just shot up from the desk like a reanimated corpse.
"Chirp."
They weren't afraid of people.
Amidst the chirping, the spring morning sun blazed like fire along the windowsill and onto the walls of the Boreas manor. The spring breeze from outside blew on Allen's bewildered face, waking him up completely.
He then realized he had just had a bizarre dream. The spring breeze, the birds chirping—real-world information had been 'perceived' by Allen in his sleep and had crept into his dream via his subconscious.
Allen shook his head and chuckled.
"What a mess, first Sylphie, then Roxy. But I actually slept hunched over the desk all night. I fell asleep before I even had a chance to see what Roxy was writing."
"Too bad I can only see the final version this time, not the draft..."
"What a loss."
He stretched and yawned, feeling the vibrant battle aura flowing within him and the 'fatigue' completely swept away. He let out a long sigh.
"I slept pretty well."
After stretching, Allen looked at the pen in his hand.
Underneath it was Roxy's name.
Allen was stunned for a moment, then shook his head with a wry smile.
He folded the paper on the desk, put it in the drawer, and locked it for good measure.
He twisted his stiff neck, using his battle aura to clear the stagnant blood flow.
He turned and walked to the door.
He pushed the door open.
The first thing he saw was the open door of the classroom. The classroom windows were also open, and the wind blew towards him.
In the next instant, the door to the next room opened.
Allen turned to look.
Sylphiette.
She looked like she had been awake for a while. Her face was still a bit wet, as if she had just washed it. A few damp strands of white hair clung to her face.
A cross-breeze blew up, tousling her hair. Beneath the flying strands was her smiling face.
Just like in the dream.
Allen blinked.
He heard Sylphie's voice.
"Good morning, Allen."
It wasn't a bird's chirp, but it was still pleasant.
Allen thought so as he replied to Sylphie.
"Good morning."
Breakfast was served in the servants' dining hall. Even so, the food was much more exquisite than in Buena Village.
It's worth mentioning that Allen and Sylphie had to drag Rudeus out of the library. If nothing else, the old NEET, both in the original story and now, had a genuine interest and remarkable drive when it came to magic.
He had woken up early, hastily washed his face while Sylphie was getting ready, and then dashed off to the library in search of grimoires.
He ended up only finding the same magic textbooks as in Buena Village.
When Sylphie and Allen found him, he was feeling dejected.
But that dejected expression improved a lot after seeing that the look of fatigue on Allen's face was gone.
And during the meal, it transformed into his signature lecherous grin, with both corners of his mouth turned up.
The dining hall was the servants' dining hall, so besides the aroma of food, there was, of course, the unique scent of little animals.
Because walking back and forth were... all furry girls.
And during the meal, a few 'uninvited guests' stopped by their side.
"Good morning! Mr. Allen! Miss Sylphiette! Master Rudeus! Do you require our assistance with your meal? Mr. Allen, you look much more energetic today compared to yesterday. It seems our service last night was satisfactory."
The four beast-girls bowed in unison in front of Allen. Although their clothes were much more conservative than what they wore last night, their expressions were still all smiles.
This scared Allen so much that his face turned pale, and he quickly tried to prove his innocence.
"The bed was made very well! Thank you! No need!"
Amidst their delicate laughter, Rudeus kept glancing over.
The commotion of a group of beast-girls leaving last night was not quiet at all.
He had naturally heard it, but out of his 'societal awareness' from his past life, he had restrained himself from going out to see what was happening. He just listened carefully, and after hearing no sounds that he often heard from his own home at night coming from next door for a long time, he went to bed feeling rather bored.
But at this moment, seeing the teasing expressions on the beast-girls' faces, the old NEET's mentality resurfaced, and he deeply suspected that he might have missed something last night...
At the same time, a lecherous grin naturally appeared on his face. His gaze was fixed on the beast-girls' twitching ears, revealing the same expression he had in the anime when he first arrived at the Boreas manor and saw the beast-girls.
But before the smile could last long, his expression froze.
Because in his peripheral vision, a burning gaze was directed at him.
Rudeus slowly turned his head.
The gaze came from Sylphiette's expressionless face.
The next moment, under the tablecloth, Sylphie stomped on his shoe.
Amidst a yelp of pain, the beast-girls covered their mouths and excused themselves.
Rudeus grimaced in pain.
By the time they got back to the classroom door, they were met with a very unexpected sight.
The red-haired mad dog was already there, lips pursed, arms crossed, waiting eagerly!
"Good morning! Allen! Sylphie!"
The upward inflection in her voice indicated that she had completely forgotten about falling asleep against the wall last night.
"Good morning, Allen, Rudeus, Sylphie."
Ghislaine stood beside her, looking prim and proper.
And next to her was Edna, who had left the previous night.
"Good morning, everyone. Did you sleep well?"
"It was alright."
Eris and Ghislaine had just run into Edna. The former turned to look at her, her raised eyebrow twitching.
"Edna, aren't you supposed to come at night? The morning is for swordsmanship lessons! You should go back. Come back tonight. I don't want to learn etiquette right now!"
Edna turned her head helplessly to look at Eris and took out a piece of paper from her pocket.
"Lady Eris, I wanted to discuss the lesson plan with the new tutors."
