Chapter 395 - Chapter 394

Chapter 394: New Era vs Old Era

The distance gradually closed. Brett observed the veteran floating ahead.

Just as impressive as imagined.

Though missing both legs. Though half a ship's wheel jutted from his skull, making him resemble a ridiculous rooster.

Yet the aura flowing from him casually was enough to inform anyone who saw him—this was a remarkable man.

"Fish-Man Brett! I've heard your name!"

Golden Lion quickly shook free from his shocked state. His lips curved. Arms crossed, sharp pupils brazenly appraised Brett. "After all, guys whose names echo even into the skies—there aren't many left on these seas."

Brett chuckled softly. "Same here. Men whose names can shake even the deep sea—there aren't many like you left either."

"Jihahahaha!!"

Golden Lion seemed amused by Brett. "Are all young people nowadays as smooth-talking as you?"

"I'd guess not many." Brett shrugged.

"Haha! Of course!"

Golden Lion laughed wildly. People like this had never been common. "Well then, brat—let me guess. That Katakuri kid sent you, didn't he?"

"Who knows?"

Brett blinked. "Maybe I was just taking an evening stroll through the sky after dinner and happened to run into you, senpai?"

"What a convenient coincidence."

Golden Lion sneered.

Though internally he felt uncertain.

If this Brett truly had connections with Katakuri, then Linlin's downfall made perfect sense.

And if connected to Linlin's son, might Brett also have ties to Kaido's daughter?

After all, his two old friends had fallen too close together. Both overthrown by their own children. Too coincidental, wasn't it?

"So what does this brat who coincidentally met me want?" Golden Lion sneered.

"Could you give me that stone?"

Brett pointed at the massive red stone floating nearby. "Looks pretty nice. I'd like to take it home for my collection."

"That would be quite unfortunate. I feel the same way."

Golden Lion's smile deepened. "This is my treasure. Nothing to do with you."

"I see. That's truly unfortunate."

Brett sighed with some regret. "I finally met a veteran of the seas. Was thinking we could chat about the previous era."

"But looks like we'll have to talk later—when we head back together."

"Jihahahaha! What an arrogant brat!"

Golden Lion couldn't help laughing aloud. "Fine! I'll give you that chance! Let you properly witness the power that truly ruled these seas in the previous era!"

"I've already seen that Katakuri kid's strength. Lives up to the reputation. So now, brat—let me see your power!!"

"Sure."

Brett nodded.

The boring small talk ended here.

Time to properly witness how much strength Golden Lion-senpai still retained.

Lightning exploded across Brett's body.

"Jihahahaha! Come on, brat!"

Though Golden Lion laughed, his gaze wasn't relaxed.

Honestly, Katakuri's strength had already surprised him.

Conqueror's Coating wasn't a technique just anyone could master.

If Katakuri already possessed that level—then what about Brett, called an emperor many years earlier?

This brat probably wielded even greater power.

Brett's lips curved.

He heard Golden Lion-senpai's thoughts crystal clear. After his Observation Haki evolved, he now truly possessed mind-reading ability.

Unfortunately, many of his battle achievements hadn't spread across the seas.

Otherwise Golden Lion-senpai would probably be thinking about retreating right now.

"Come on, brat!"

The lion swung his legs.

The next instant, a sky-filling storm of slashes poured toward Brett.

Brett showed no intention of dodging.

Already in dragon-man form, after casually covering himself in Haki, he confidently met the incoming slashes with his body.

Brett was immediately engulfed by the storm. Slash after grand slash possessed mountain-splitting, sea-severing power. Yet upon striking Brett, they could only shatter futilely.

Like striking seastone, Brett still stood in the sky. But all incoming slashes completely crumbled.

"That's it?"

Brett rolled his neck.

These were indeed impressive slashes.

Truly the previous era's greatest swordsman.

When the slashes struck, Brett actually felt his scales might split.

These attacks contained no Haki. Quite remarkable.

Golden Lion's brow furrowed tightly.

Completely useless! What was with this guy? His slashes landed without producing a single wound!

Was this guy's body made of Poneglyphs? Even Kaido wasn't this durable! No—even Linlin couldn't compare!

Brett rolled his neck. "Is it because you didn't add Haki to the slashes?"

Golden Lion gritted his teeth.

Of course that was the reason! Because he currently couldn't use Haki properly, his slashes couldn't hurt this bastard at all!

"Not ending that easily!"

Golden Lion spread both hands. He touched the air.

Then he controlled it. Gales surged the next instant.

Massive tornadoes seemed to connect heaven and earth. They drew vast amounts of seawater from below, forming waterspouts that swept toward Brett from all directions.

"Looks pretty familiar."

Brett thought about it. Hadn't he used this technique before? When defeating that Akainu guy?

Since Golden Lion-senpai used water, he'd use fire.

"Fire Dragon Torch!"

Brett exhaled flames. Golden flames began condensing.

Though he hadn't transformed into red dragon form, he could still condense a massive fire dragon.

Then the approaching waterspouts began releasing violent white vapor.

The seawater couldn't even touch the flame dragon before completely evaporating.

"Here I come, Golden Lion-senpai."

Brett chuckled softly, controlling the flame dragon to charge forward rapidly.

The fire dragon directly pierced the waterspout, making it vanish without trace.

Golden Lion's pupils contracted. Scorching heat rushed forward, making him feel like melting.

No—not a feeling. His clothes had already ignited!

This damn brat!!
