Chapter 2 - What a Big Reward

Gotham City was always raining, the dark clouds overhead lingered, and at this moment, the Batman signal lit up.

On a tall building by the street, Batman, draped in his cape, stood on a gargoyle statue, his gaze constantly sweeping the street below.

This street was the only route to the location of the recent disturbance, but now, apart from three or four cars dutifully waiting at the traffic lights, there was nothing unusual on the street.

After watching for a while, Batman spread his cape and glided towards another direction in Gotham City, where the Joker had just been released from Arkham Asylum and needed to be captured again.

Connors sat in the driver's seat. Harley Quinn in the passenger seat had been knocked unconscious by him and secured with a seatbelt. After passing one traffic light after another, he drove the car to one of his residences.

"Waiting at traffic lights in Gotham City is as strange as following traffic rules in 'Grand Theft Auto'..."

Knocking Harley Quinn unconscious in a blind spot of surveillance, then driving himself and following traffic rules all the way, Connors successfully deceived Batman, who might have been lurking in the shadows.

At this moment, on the nineteenth floor, inside the apartment Connors rented.

In the warm water of the bathtub, Harley Quinn was stripped naked by Connors and placed inside. The chemical smell on her body was gradually diluted and dissolved by the bath salts.

Connors stood by, confirming that Harley Quinn would not accidentally drown in the bathtub due to losing consciousness, then began to check his system.

While driving on the road, he had timed it to submit the 'Gossip' task, but he hadn't had time to check the reward yet.

Just taking advantage of the time before Harley Quinn woke up, Connors decided to see what reward he got this time.

"Being there in person, involving superheroes, and possibly even Batman looking for me in the dark, it's definitely a big piece of gossip. I wonder what good stuff I'll be rewarded with?"

With anticipation, he looked at the system.

[Today's Gossip: The Delusional Harleen Quinzel]

[Gossip Reward: Spider-Sense]

Spider-Sense?!

Glancing at the unconscious Harley Quinn in the bathtub, Connors took a breath.

What a great reward!

Compared to his previous Gossip rewards, this one was definitely a grand prize.

Since he could potentially encounter various pieces of gossip, big and small, every day, just as Connors needed to actively choose which one to submit, claiming the reward also required manual action.

When there was no gossip worth submitting on a certain day, Connors could use this to accumulate rewards until he felt it was worth claiming.

The "Intermediate Mixed Martial Arts" he currently possessed was obtained through this method, and it was also the only reward other than money he had received these days.

But now it was different. Besides "Intermediate Mixed Martial Arts," he also had "Spider-Sense." As long as he didn't court disaster, Connors could basically guarantee his safety.

Returning to the living room and sitting down, he wanted to try out the function of Spider-Sense.

First, he confirmed that his current residence was temporarily safe. Just as he was about to try if he could achieve an effect similar to "time stop" as seen in movies, a faint sobbing sound suddenly came from the bathroom.

Harley Quinn was awake?

Connors quickly got up. This was the infamous crazy beauty of DC. Even with Spider-Sense, he didn't dare to leave Harley Quinn unattended.

As for why he brought Harley Quinn back to his home despite knowing this, it was because he planned to get some information about the Joker from her.

As everyone knew, Gotham City was Batman's city, but it was also the Joker's city. The Joker was practically stirring up trouble here. As long as Connors had a chance to connect with the Joker, he could get enough gossip to be stuffed.

Just as he assumed a fighting stance, preparing to greet Harley Quinn walking out of the bathroom, the glass door creaked open, and a bare foot stretched out first.

Then Harley Quinn appeared before his eyes.

Her red and blue hair tips were tied back into pigtails. A large white men's bathrobe enveloped her body, yet it still couldn't hide her hot figure.

Connors' eyes lit up. Earlier, Harley Quinn was sticky all over from the chemical liquid, and he was driving, so he hadn't paid much attention to her appearance.

After bringing her back to his home, he was eager to check the system's Gossip reward and also ignored her appearance.

But now that a clean Harley Quinn appeared before him, his eyes lit up.

Connors' eyes lit up, and Harley Quinn opposite him was even more so. She took a few steps and walked up to him, grabbing his suit jacket.

"...?"

Connors was confused. His Spider-Sense had no reaction, indicating that Harley should have no ill intentions, but what did she mean by taking off his suit jacket?

Soon he understood:

The suit jacket he was wearing was dark red, and red and blue were Harley's favorite colors. Seeing them made her unable to resist snatching it!

So, in addition to Harley's white men's bathrobe, there was now a dark red suit jacket.

Wearing a suit jacket over a bathrobe looked awkward no matter how you wore it. Soon, Harley took off the suit jacket again and threw it aside, her gaze constantly scanning the room.

Fortunately, the residence Connors had temporarily rented had minimalist decor. Harley Quinn didn't find anything that could catch her eye, and finally, her gaze locked back onto Connors.

"My "Little Pudding" doesn't want me anymore, will you take me in?"

Harley Quinn didn't even need to prepare; a pitiful look instantly appeared on her face as she spoke to Connors, who was still sitting on the sofa.

Then she stepped forward with her long legs, walked over to him, sat on his lap, wrapped her arms around Connors' neck, looking like a little bird nestled against him.

Then, without waiting for Connors to speak, Harley slightly parted her red lips, gently bit his earlobe with her teeth, and breathed out like orchids.

"Little Pudding" was Harley Quinn's unique nickname for the Joker. Connors knew this in his heart, and facing Harley's temptation at this moment, his mind was clear.

Just as their lips were about to touch, Connors pushed her away and stood up:

"This isn't some shelter that takes in just anyone... The Joker abandoned you. Does he know you're still calling him "Little Pudding" and can't forget him?"

Hearing this, Harley Quinn's lips stretched into an exaggerated smile little by little, as if she was about to enter that crazy state again:

"You..."

Her words were rudely interrupted by Connors:

"The Joker has killed countless 'Harleys'. Adding one more won't make him remember you. How about joining me and turning Gotham City upside down?"

Having said this, Connors had already changed his previous idea of extracting information about the Joker from Harley Quinn.

With a Harley who could cause huge trouble by his side, why bother chasing the Joker and Batman?

Harley Quinn's smile was still on her face, but it had gradually softened from the previously aggressive smile, and then she jumped and threw herself into Connors' arms:

"Then, from today onwards, the psychologist Harleen Quinzel is gone. My name is now - Harley Quinn!"

Steadily supporting the softness within the bathrobe with his hands, Connors smiled:

"That's more like it. Now, let's celebrate the birth of Harley Quinn in Gotham City!"
