In the interrogation room, Kanzou sat back casually in his chair, legs propped up on the table, gazing at Fugaku with calm indifference.
"Assaulting a fellow Konoha shinobi with intent to kill... Fugaku-san, doesn't this mean that you are a traitor now?"
"Humph! If that's the story you intend to spin, then kill me, the supposed traitor… I dare you to do it if you've got the guts!"
Fugaku snarled through swollen lips and a bruised face, glaring at Kanzou with fury.
"Kanzou-sama," Uchiha Shin said slyly, "Why not just fulfill his wish and kill him now? He attacked you first. Even if we end him here, Hokage would have no grounds to object."
The bloodlust in Shin's eyes was unmistakable—he clearly wanted Fugaku dead.
As far as he was concerned, the Hokage had no reason to interfere, and the current patriarch—old and nearing death—wasn't worth worrying about.
Kanzou slowly stood and walked over to the restrained Fugaku.
He stared down at him, then lightly patted him on the head—like an elder condescendingly pacifying a disobedient child.
"Fugaku-san, you're still too unstable. Hold on to that anger—you're going to need it for what's coming next."
Kanzou turned and gestured to Shin.
"I don't care what method you use. Just make sure he signs the confession."
"Understood, Kanzou-sama."
Shin grinned cruelly at Fugaku.
Interrogation and torture—these were his specialties. And he was confident that Fugaku's next session would be one to remember.
Still, Shin couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed.
If Kanzou had chosen to kill Fugaku, there would be nothing left standing in his path to becoming the next patriarch.
…
Just as Kanzou stepped out of the interrogation room, he was met by the current Uchiha patriarch, Uchiha Douma, Fugaku's father.
"What a surprise," Kanzou said with a faint smile. "Didn't expect the patriarch to drop by the Police Station today."
"Kanzou," Douma said sharply, "where is my son?"
Kanzou replied coolly. "He's in the right place… inside the cell under custody—for attacking a fellow shinobi, which is a heinous crime, if you don't remember."
Facing the clan patriarch before him, Kanzou showed no hint of respect.
After all, this old man had spent years suppressing him to pave the way for his son to become the next patriarch.
"Ridiculous! Release him immediately!" Douma snapped.
"The captain of the Military Police Force being arrested by his own subordinates—if that gets out, the entire Uchiha clan will be a laughing stock! Is that what you want, Kanzou? To disgrace our name?"
Kanzou met Douma's furious gaze with complete calm.
"And what if I refuse?"
"I'm the patriarch of the Uchiha clan! You dare defy me?"
A cold glint flickered in Douma's eyes as he released his chakra. A powerful aura surged from his body—one that edged close to Kage-level.
As the patriarch of the Uchiha Clan, he was certainly no weakling. In his prime, he had been a formidable quasi-Kage-level shinobi.
Unfortunately, the severe injuries he sustained during the Second Great Ninja War had left him greatly weakened.
Of course, that didn't mean he was not a force to be reckoned with.
But even in the face of Douma's pressure, Kanzou didn't flinch.
He stood firm, unmoved by the weight of the old man's presence.
Not to mention Douma's current weakened state—even at his peak, he would never have posed a serious threat to Kanzou.
"Fugaku-san attacked a fellow Uchiha shinobi. That is, without question, an act of betrayal towards the village and towards the Clan," Kanzou said calmly, before adding, "And now, Patriarch, you're asking me to release him? Are you trying to cover up treason?"
He raised a hand and spoke with a warm, almost gentle smile.
"Covering for a traitor is a crime in itself. Someone, come. Arrest the patriarch and put him in a cell."
At his signal, Souta stepped forward, leading several Military Police Forces without hesitation.
Today, Kanzou intended to arrest both father and son.
These two had been a constant thorn in his side. If he didn't take this opportunity to strike back, he would be doing a disservice to the Villain System he was bound to.
"Y-You dare… cough… Uchiha Kanzou, are you insane?! You'd arrest me? Do you intend to rebel against the Clan?!"
Douma coughed violently, his face flushed with anger. His condition was clearly worsening.
When he heard Kanzou call his son a traitor, his fury nearly caused him to collapse on the spot.
"A traitor?!" he wheezed.
Kanzou's tone remained calm and cold.
"It's not me rebelling. Your son raised his hand against a fellow Uchiha shinobi—and you're trying to cover it up. That makes your son a traitor, and you the one aiding his treason."
Even as Kenzou spoke, Souta had already moved into action. Without hesitation, his blade shot toward Douma's waist, aiming to end it quickly.
Had the strike landed, it would have been fatal. In his current state, Douma could not afford such a wound.
But despite his illness, Douma was still a former quasi-Kage-level powerhouse.
Even weakened, his instincts remained sharp. He narrowly evaded the blow, making it clear that Souta wouldn't be able to bring him down so easily.
Several Uchiha loyalists who had followed Douma stepped forward, ready to intervene—
—but Kanzou's eyes flashed as he activated his Three Tomoe Sharingan and swept his gaze across them, "I shall not allow a traitor and his sympathizers to roam freely. I shall do my duty for the sake of my loyalty to my village and my clan—even if it means punishing my own kin. If either of you want to follow in the footsteps of a traitor… then go ahead. I dare you."
With just a few words from Kanzou, everyone froze in place.
No one dared to move.
Anyone familiar with Kanzou knew exactly what kind of man he was—ruthless and unrelenting.
He had participated in the Second Great Ninja War. Though he was still young at the time and the war was nearing its end, Kanzou had made a name for himself on the battlefield.
Many within the Uchiha clan respected him not just for his talent, but because he had earned his reputation through sheer strength—by killing with his own hands.
His oppressive killing intent, combined with the raw power of his Three Tomoe Sharingan, left the surrounding shinobi paralysed with fear.
As for the old man, Uchiha Douma—he had made a fatal mistake.
Instead of bringing elite shinobi with him, he had shown up with a few Chūnin who were basically just there to make up the numbers.
Not that he had much choice—most of the clan's stronger fighters were out on missions and not currently in the village.
"This old guy's tougher than I thought," Kanzou muttered to himself.
Kanzou observed carefully—whether in taijutsu or ninjutsu, Douma was still on par with Uchiha Souta. That meant Souta likely wouldn't be able to take the old man down on his own.
Seizing the moment, Kanzou moved.
In an instant, several shuriken flew toward Uchiha Douma, aimed with deadly precision—targeting his heart, throat, and limbs.
Douma reacted swiftly. With a kunai in hand, he deflected three of the projectiles, dodged two, but one still managed to pierce his right hand.
The Uchiha clan was known for its unmatched skill with shuriken. Combined with the heightened insight of the Sharingan, their accuracy with throwing weapons was lethal.
"Dirty tactics," Douma muttered, casting a sidelong glance at Kanzou.
Kanzou smirked.
"Isn't it a bit ridiculous to call a ninja 'dirty' for using a sneak attack?"
After all, stealth and deception were the very essence of a shinobi. Not everyone could charge into battle like Uchiha Madara.
Without hesitation, Kanzou used the Body Flicker Technique, drew Ryūjin Jakka, and brought it down in a clean, devastating arc.
Though Kanzou lacked formal understanding of Kenjutsu or Shikai, Ryūjin Jakka was inherently devastating.
No sword in this world—not even the legendary Kusanagi—could match its devastating nature.
With a single slash, the unguarded strike left a deep, burning gash across Douma's chest.
Staring at the burning wound on his torso and the suffocating smell that came from the burnt area, Douma immediately understood—Kanzou hadn't been holding back. That swing was meant to kill.
As Kanzou withdrew his blade, he seamlessly shifted into the Uchiha clan's fluid close-combat style.
Douma, now wounded in one arm, struggled. He couldn't even perform ninjutsu—after all, not every shinobi could weave signs with a single hand.
At close range, in his weakened state, how could an aging man like him possibly stand against Kanzou?
To make matters worse, Kanzou wasn't alone. Souta stood by, ready to strike at any moment.
Under their combined assault, Douma was quickly overwhelmed.
Grievously injured, he collapsed to the ground, bloodied and defeated.
"Alright, that should be enough…"
Just as Souta prepared to deliver the killing blow, Kanzou raised a hand to stop him.
There was no point in going that far.
Douma wouldn't live much longer—especially after suffering such serious injuries.
Killing him now would only bring unnecessary trouble. If the old man lasted even a week, that would be a generous estimate… and hardly worth the effort.
"Uchiha Douma attempted to cover for his traitorous son. Arrest him."
Kanzou gave the order with a calm smile.
Douma glared up at Kanzou, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth.
Now he understood—Kanzou had been looking for an excuse to fight from the very start. All of this had been to provoke a confrontation and reopen his old wounds.
As shinobi moved to restrain the patriarch, Kanzou frowned slightly.
"Huh. No evil points for capturing this old man?"
He sighed. "What a waste."
