Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Ghost Steve

Bang! Bang! Bang!

At close range, a large-caliber revolver could penetrate thin metal plates.

No matter how high the Werewolf's physical defense was, his body was covered in fur, not steel, so he would still get injured and bleed.

The strongest attack method of a Magician from the Fool Pathway, Sequence 7, was an air bullet, which Xia Ai'er obtained by buying a pistol.

Roar!

The Werewolf's figure flashed quickly; even with Xia Ai'er's pre-aiming, the Werewolf still blocked or dodged the fired bullets.

Moving quickly on the ground, a Werewolf without airtime was still relatively difficult to hit.

Fortunately, this time, Xia Ai'er was not the only one fighting back; Martin also began to shoot calmly, and although his aim was not as good as Xia Ai'er's, he had a lot of experience with firearms, which created a lot of obstacles for the Werewolf's pursuit.

Alice saw the golden dog leash around Martin's neck; her mouth gaped open, her eyes filled with disbelief, and even her running speed slowed down.

It was this golden dog leash that gave Martin the courage and strength to calmly shoot while being chased by the Werewolf, unlike his previous panic.

Xia Ai'er had dug this out of the garden, originally thinking he would get a Bard's Beyonder characteristic, but unexpectedly, the separated Beyonder characteristic combined with the dog leash buried with it, turning into a low-level Sealed Artifact.

"How dare he still chase us?"

"Is there something wrong with his head?"

Xia Ai'er looked at Alice, who was already preparing to turn around and fight back, and asked with confusion.

This was Backlund!

And it was night!

Whether this Light Supplicant released a Holy Light into the sky or sang a sacred hymn praising the Sun, wouldn't you explode?

You still dare to chase!

Xia Ai'er didn't consider the fact that he had just provoked the Werewolf; he just felt that these Beyonders of the Fifth Epoch were too reckless.

"Werewolves who have just killed someone are usually more bloodthirsty."

Alice gripped Xia Ai'er's wrist; a golden light shone, turning into specks of golden light that dissipated on the revolver.

This Light Supplicant had added a trace of divine attribute to the bullets.

"Then let's kill him together."

"This is within the jurisdiction of the Machinery Hivemind; even if we cause a commotion, we can reveal our identities to resolve the issue."

Xia Ai'er was not afraid at all; his current identity could withstand investigation by the Machinery Hivemind, and Alice was the same; the Steam Church would not intentionally make things difficult for a Beyonder of the Eternal Blazing Sun Church.

"Then let's kill him together!"

Alice nodded; after adding a blessing to Martin's pistol, she took the chain from Martin's hand, and the golden radiance once again illuminated the dim street, with the girl's singing carrying an inspiring mysterious power.

Xia Ai'er's spirituality was touched; he slightly tilted his head, took a step back, blocked Alice's side-rear, and raised his gun to shoot at the Werewolf's leg.

In this straight alleyway, there were no curved terrains or obstacles sufficient to conceal a figure; even a Sequence 7 would find it difficult to charge forward under the "spotlight" and the suppressive fire of two specialized revolvers.

Alice, holding the golden chain, had already begun to move slowly forward, and Martin, whose shots had grazed the Werewolf's body multiple times, also advanced, encouraged by the girl's singing, as the Sun attribute had a very significant restraining effect on Werewolves.

Roar!

The Werewolf glared at the three with hatred; he clutched his injured spot and turned as if to escape into the Darkness.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Xia Ai'er seized the opportunity to wound the Werewolf's leg; the Werewolf stumbled, and Alice rushed over, throwing the chain in her hand, trying to loop it around the Werewolf's neck.

Martin also excitedly followed, already eager to complete the great feat of hunting a true Werewolf.

Xia Ai'er followed behind the two; his spiritual perception was very active, and the cold wind blowing towards him seemed to have transformed into ferocious ghostly hands.

An ominous wind, blowing from who knew where, shifted the trajectory of the thrown golden chain. The golden radiance around Alice also dimmed, which made her terrified, so she prayed for another Holy Light to envelop herself, Martin, and Xia Ai'er, who was not far away.

The muzzle of Xia Ai'er's gun turned, moving away from the Werewolf, and aimed at Alice and Martin, who had their backs to him.

A figure was reflected in his dark eyes; that person wore a black tailcoat and a dark red cape.

This was Wraith possession.

"I was waiting for you."

A glint of mirror light flashed in his eyes, the corners of his mouth slightly curved upwards, and the muzzle was re-aimed at the Werewolf's arm, firing another shot!

Bang!

A spray of blood burst forth!

Werewolf Thale seemed somewhat incredulous.

Idiot, hurry up and get out!

A faint green light flickered in Xia Ai'er's dark eyes, and the Werewolf seemed to suddenly come to his senses, enduring the pain in his body and fleeing into the Darkness.

"Alice, Martin, something's not right, don't chase him."

Xia Ai'er put down his gun and said to the two.

Alice looked at Xia Ai'er suspiciously; she immediately cast a Holy Light to envelop him. This Holy Light had no harm; it was purely for alignment identification.

Xia Ai'er did not dodge or avoid it; the Sun Pathway restrained Werewolves, Zombies, and Wraiths, so how could it restrain Prisoners and uncorrupted Secrets Supplicants?

He closed his eyes, and only opened them again when the light dissipated.

"Almost, what a pity."

Xia Ai'er said with some regret.

A living wild monster just ran away like that.

"Yes..."

Martin also looked regretful, but as Alice stopped singing, the inspiring ability gradually ceased to take effect, and he suddenly reacted:

"No, Young Master, this is too dangerous."

"Stop talking nonsense, let's hurry up and leave."

Alice grabbed one in each hand and quickly walked in the direction they had come from, her eyes still emitting a faint golden light, suspiciously looking at the dim surroundings.

"Gentlemen, ladies, I think you need to stay and explain."

"First, put down your weapons."

A gentle but undeniable voice of a middle-aged man came from the intersection; the Machinery Hivemind members responsible for Backlund Bridge District had arrived.

In fact, if not for some minor disturbances caused elsewhere, they would have arrived even earlier.

"Alright, Your Excellency." x3

Xia Ai'er and the two exchanged glances; he helped Alice translate, and they squatted down to place their respective weapons on the ground.

As Xia Ai'er stood up, a black-covered book slipped from inside his robe and fell to the ground.

"Excuse me, sirs."

"Weapons can be put down."

"Principles cannot."

Xia Ai'er smiled apologetically at the Machinery Hivemind team led by Ikanos Bernard, then bent down to pick up his 'accidentally' dropped "night revelation."

"It's alright, we understand."

Deacon Ikanos, seeing this holy book of the Night Church, he and his team members behind him became even more amiable.

"So, gentlemen, ladies, which of you will explain to me what exactly happened?"

Ikanos motioned for two team members to step forward; one was to inspect the two revolvers and a low-level Sealed Artifact, a blood-stained cane, on the ground, while the other went to inspect the charred Werewolf servant's corpse in the alley, burned by golden flames.
