Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Surrender Faction

"Not bad, just like that."

Gao Xinaim looked very pleased.

But the more she was like this, the more Xia Ai'er became wary, worried that this female Tyrannosaurus Rex would directly stomp on his waist again, and as for the bait she threw out, he didn't even look at it.

"Come here."

Gao Xinaim waved at Xia Ai'er, who silently swam backward. This time, he wouldn't believe her no matter what.

"Stop messing around, come here quickly."

Gao Xinaim urged Xia Ai'er again. Xia Ai'er hesitated, then slowly swam over. He wasn't afraid; he was facing danger head-on and would never back down.

He came closer.

Gao Xinaim helped Xia Ai'er turn around. She caressed Xia Ai'er's hair from behind, smoothing out the slightly disheveled strands until they were straight and soft.

"I don't understand."

Xia Ai'er's tone was filled with deep confusion and bewilderment.

"What don't you understand?"

"You even dared to have ideas about me, what else is there that you don't understand?"

Gao Xinaim tapped Xia Ai'er's head.

"Then… even if I… ahem, why did you… I don't understand."

Xia Ai'er wanted to turn his head, but his hair was held by Gao Xinaim. He could only sink into the water, blowing bubbles as he spoke.

"Why didn't I beat you to death?"

"At least give you a punishment so profound you'll never forget it in this lifetime?"

Gao Xinaim speculated on Xia Ai'er's thoughts and counter-questioned.

"Your attitude towards me… is not like how you treat an ordinary Elf."

As Xia Ai'er spoke, he already wanted to submerge his entire head under the water, but Gao Xinaim pulled him out by his hair again.

"I have high expectations for you."

Gao Xinaim did not deny it.

"But that's not worth you doing this, is it?"

Xia Ai'er was very confused. Was Gao Xinaim convinced that he could become a True God? But he himself didn't have absolute confidence, and even if that were the case, there was no need to say it like this.

"Even if I can become an Angel, I can't do it without your help."

"And I won't repay your kindness with enmity."

Xia Ai'er felt that the possibility of him backstabbing Gao Xinaim was infinitesimally small. He wasn't without the Calamity characteristic.

"My expectations for you are not just to be an Angel."

Gao Xinaim spoke words that were within Xia Ai'er's expectations.

Xia Ai'er reached back and pried open Gao Xinaim's hand gripping his hair. He turned his head and looked into the Elf Queen's eyes, asking seriously:

"Then what else do you expect of me?"

To become a God?

"You are the next leader of the Elven race, whom I am cultivating."

Gao Xinaim looked at Xia Ai'er with gentle eyes and smiled.

"Ah?"

Xia Ai'er was stunned. What was this?

Seizing power?

Abdication?

It was a bit too early, wasn't it?

"Are you joking?"

"You're still here, the God of Luck is still here, is it my turn?"

"You're not expecting me to become a God, are you? If so, I advise you to give up on such boring fantasies early."

At this time, Xia Ai'er didn't have much obsession with becoming a True God. It was more like, if there was a chance, he'd try; if not, it didn't matter. There were Angels who survived to the end, weren't there?

"God of Wishes," the Demonic Wolf, Kotar—that one could even survive in the Forsaken Land of the Gods. Could he not find an uninhabited sea area and become a lord?

Gao Xinaim didn't mind Xia Ai'er's somewhat impolite words. She put her arms around Xia Ai'er's neck and whispered in his ear:

"As long as you can become an Angel, you will be the next leader of the Elf race. This is my promise to you, the Elf Queen."

"That simple?"

The vigilance Xia Ai'er had developed from answering too many disturbance calls told him this wasn't right.

"Of course, I expect you to achieve even greater things, but I understand that is very dangerous, so I won't force you to do anything. If you become an Angel, I will consider entrusting all Elves to you."

Gao Xinaim said affirmatively.

"After the Sanguine Ancestor Lilith fell, even the Beauty Goddess Ornia could only let the Sanguine scatter across various places to avoid being wiped out in one go. What qualifications do I have?"

Xia Ai'er still felt there was a problem here. Even if he became Sequence 2… he would still just be an ordinary…

Alright.

After becoming Sequence 2, if he wasn't afraid of death, he could be used as a King of Angels, but he didn't intend to truly treat himself as a consumable.

"After you become an Angel, if the Elves' living environment further deteriorates, then you will lead some of the Elves to seek refuge with one of the Gods who is willing to accept you and whom you prefer, become His Terrestrial Angel, and lead the Elves to join His Church to preserve the Elven spark."

Gao Xinaim's long, fair fingers traced Xia Ai'er's cheek. Her tone was unreadable, but a flicker of sadness passed through her eyes.

"Is that how I'm to be used?"

"Is that what a leader of the Elves means?"

Xia Ai'er finally understood. No wonder the God of Luck wouldn't work. The God of Luck was Sequence 1, a Great Angel. How could a Sequence 1 surrendering be as stable as a Sequence 2?

"The God of Luck has to hide from the Angel of Fate, hide from the True Creator, or rather, the Fallen God Almighty."

"You can't bring yourself to surrender to those you once looked down upon, so you're having me surrender?"

How are you so smart?

Xia Ai'er wanted to turn back to look at Gao Xinaim, but his neck was immediately constricted. After a brief hesitation, he chose to surrender, just to save the "Calamity Queen" some face.

"You don't want to seek refuge with a certain deity?"

Gao Xinaim asked with a somewhat complex tone.

"I'm indeed a bit unwilling; that would mean losing freedom. But it's not impossible; the little freedom an Angel loses can easily be compensated for elsewhere."

Xia Ai'er said without any psychological burden. He even thought about seeking refuge with the Earth Mother (Sanguine Ancestor). The two families were formerly allies in the humanoid camp, and the Elves had done nothing to wrong the Sanguine. If Xia Ai'er sought refuge, theoretically, he could live very comfortably.

Lilith wouldn't be so ill-mannered as to harm a surrendering Sequence 2; she also lacked capable Blessed Ones under her command.

He didn't have the habit of enduring hardship unnecessarily. When it was time to surrender, he would surrender. Those with stubborn heads should go to the Warhammer universe and follow the Emperor.

"It seems you are not resistant."

Gao Xinaim tapped Xia Ai'er's head. Her tone became a bit more formal:

"Then you must follow me and learn how to become a qualified leader. You are to bear the fate of a race. If you are this immature, I highly doubt how much of the Elves' original interests you would betray."

"What do you mean? What am I betraying?"

Xia Ai'er couldn't help but slap the water, splashing it everywhere. What had he done? He hadn't done anything, and it was already about betraying interests?

Which Angel would need to betray their own race…

He wasn't unable to survive; why would he betray his own kind?

"I'm just saying you're still immature."

Gao Xinaim said indifferently.

"Hmph, do you think I won't be decisive? Who can't just kill indiscriminately? I just don't want to."

Xia Ai'er snorted softly. He had simply experienced fewer things, but as a transmigrator, his morals were very flexible. He just didn't want to easily change himself.

He would only consider leaving a glimmer of hope when he himself held the power of life and death.

This innocence, left to the past, was also his anchor.

A storm can capsize ships at sea, but it can also give those who fall into the water a chance to see if fate will favor them, to encounter a second ship willing to rescue them.

If he couldn't stand high, then he didn't need to think, only needed to find a way to ensure he lived well.

When he was a Sailor, he wanted to become a storm. After he became a storm, he should not forget himself, who once struggled at sea as a Sailor.
