Chapter 97 - Visiting Wayne Manor

"Master Bruce, perhaps you should rest."

The underground cave within Wayne Manor was carved out by Bruce to serve as his secret base.

Rows of large, sophisticated equipment were lined up, and above them was a massive electronic display screen.

Countless screens were recording various events happening in Gotham City.

Beneath the screen sat a chair, and the cold coffee on the armrest proved that the chair's owner had long since left.

"Master Bruce?"

Alfred glanced at the center, where Bruce wasn't present, and then walked towards the innermost part of the cave.

That was Master Bruce's Armory.

As a DC all-rounder, Bruce also knew how to conduct scientific research and create equipment.

Alfred, with a calm expression, reached out and pressed his hand on the iron door's display screen.

With a red light scanning his palm, the previously closed iron door opened with a "whoosh."

A wave of intense heat rushed out, but Alfred walked in without changing his expression.

This was a dim room, with all sorts of strange and special instruments and equipment hanging on the walls.

And in the center of the room stood a cast iron table, where a tall figure, shirtless, was continuously swinging a hammer.

The huge hammer struck a piece of glowing red-hot metal, creating countless dazzling sparks.

"Master Bruce, I know you're busy, but perhaps you should take better care of your health."

Alfred frowned, his tone filled with disapproval. "You haven't eaten anything for a whole day."

Bruce's muffled voice came from beneath his welding mask, "I know, Alfred. I'll rest when I'm done with this."

Alfred sighed, knowing he couldn't persuade Bruce. He simply set the plate of food aside, walked over to Bruce, and picked up a welding mask to put on himself.

"What can I do to help, Master Bruce?"

Bruce pointed to a pool of bubbling, lava-like material on the iron table. "I need you to heat this metal up again."

He put down the hammer and struggled to lift a carved mold from another table. The mold was the shape of his Batsuit.

If one were to say what Bruce Wayne, or rather, Batman's greatest trait was...

Perhaps it was his intelligence, his unwavering character, his never-give-up spirit.

But, what was most admirable was that no matter how many times Batman was defeated, he could grit his teeth and stand up, enduring the pain.

No one could endure failure forever, but the Bat-bro could.

After being beaten up by Kino, Bruce took a deep breath and immediately decided to make changes.

He decided to start with the armor.

As a man in Gotham, no, in the whole world who could compete with the financial resources of the LexCorp, Bruce spent a high price to acquire a batch of precious Promethium. He had heard of this magical metal when he was traveling the world. It could absorb most forms of energy and feed it back to the host to enhance their strength and speed.

Of course, a single Promethium build would greatly increase the weight of the suit. In order to reduce the weight, Bruce also mixed Intron Metal, an indestructible and strong metal, into it to reduce the weight.

"Let's begin."

Bruce placed the mold under the iron table.

Alfred pressed the button. Accompanied by the roar of the iron furnace, the molten metal, like magma, heated up and turned red again, as if it would explode and blow everyone to smithereens at any second.

"Alright, Alfred, turn it off!"

Bruce issued the command, and as Alfred pressed the red stop button beside the fireplace, he reached out and pressed the green button on the iron table.

"Pshhh~"

Heat waves, carrying molten iron, flowed along the carved iron tracks into the mold. As the iron flow poured along the mold's patterns, a formidable Batman armor began to take shape.

Bruce watched the red-hot iron armor, knowing it would need some time to solidify on its own.

Bruce picked up a warm piece of bread and chewed it. He walked out of the Armory and sat on a cold chair, staring at the screen, monitoring Gotham City's every move.

"Master Bruce, perhaps you should find some like-minded companions to work with," Alfred said, feeling sorry for the boy he had watched grow up.

Bruce shook his head. "No, Alfred, I don't trust them."

Ever since witnessing the list of Court of Owls members the mysterious man had given him, Bruce had been completely disillusioned with Gotham's elite.

"However, you mentioned Commissioner Gordon..."

"He still needs to be vetted, Alfred." Bruce shook his head. He wouldn't trust someone so easily, even if they seemed righteous.

He manipulated the mouse, bringing up Kino's photo.

Bruce narrowed his eyes slightly, comparing his physique to that of the "Nameless One" he'd seen in the underground maze.

But, the hallucinogenic drugs in the water that day had distorted his memory of the "Nameless One's" form.

Just as Bruce was lost in thought...

"Beep beep beep."

A clear chime echoed through the underground passage.

"Someone's at the door."

Alfred glanced at the screen.

On the massive, glowing blue screen, Thomas stood outside the iron gate with a handsome young man.

"It's Mr. Thomas and his nephew." Bruce took a sip of his cold coffee, his gaze fixed on the young man behind Thomas. This was a good opportunity to confirm his suspicions. He then said, "Let's go greet them."

"Bruce is a very good friend, Kino. If you, the LexCorp, want to develop in Gotham City in the future, then cooperating with Wayne Enterprises is a good choice."

Outside the iron gate, which was crafted from gargoyles, Thomas was enthusiastically introducing Bruce to Kino.

"You should probably ask Lex about this," Kino said flatly, looking at the message Talia had sent him a minute ago on his phone.

[Ra's al Ghul has already led a hundred elite assassins to Gotham City. He plans to detonate a heavy dirty bomb and destroy the city.]

It was a crazy plan. Unfortunately, Ra's al Ghul was wary of Talia, and the woman could only glean some information.

Kino thought for a moment, then forwarded the message to a "friend" of his in Metropolis.

"Xiao Zha, help me draft a message and send it to this email address."

After copying and pasting the message from Talia, Kino put his phone away.

At that moment, Thomas was also discussing Lex.

"Lex? Forget about it," Thomas said, staring at the iron gate with a look of melancholy. "That child has been infected by that madman Lionel and has become a cold-blooded monster."

Thomas often visited Letitia at the Metropolis Nursing Home, but as far as he knew, Lex never did.

Kino didn't reply. He and Lex had a decent relationship, but his relationship with Lionel was terrible.

That old man was a typical, refined egoist.

There was no emotion in his eyes. If his family was of value, he could unhesitatingly sell them to the devil.
