"Splash!"
A blur of motion leaped towards the stone steps from the foul-smelling sewage.
Of course, it wasn't a bikini-clad beauty emerging, but rather Mr. Batman, clad in his black batsuit. His cowl was even adorned with a few pieces of rotten vegetable matter, making him look rather disheveled.
Sniffing the unpleasant odor clinging to his suit, Batman, a true hardcase, showed no change in expression as he advanced deeper into the cave.
His escape route was, of course, the labyrinth where Geno had previously trapped him. Now, the clever Batman decided to do the opposite and lure Ra's al Ghul and the League of Assassins here.
Batman reached into his utility belt and pulled out an Antidote Capsule, popping it into his mouth and chewing it before swallowing.
You have to give it to Batman; he doesn't make the same mistake twice. After Geno dosed him with a hallucinogen and he saw his dead parents, Batman developed an antidote capable of counteracting most poisons found on the market.
As the effects of the drug wore off and the hallucinatory effects diminished, Batman could barely make out the scene before him.
The familiar Owl Statue stood at the entrance.
Batman cast his gaze into the maze.
Ever since he was trapped here last time, he had memorized all the routes of this maze.
To put it in Eastern strategic terms, he had the advantage of time and place, and he was only missing the final factor: the people.
Without hesitation, Batman lightly tossed his cape aside and strode towards the maze.
When he was hidden in the darkness, ready to strike, that was his domain.
Not long after he left, the assassins of the League of Assassins also followed the route Batman had taken to escape and found this maze.
"Owls?"
The leader was Ra's al Ghul, the man who had thrown a few darts at Batman. The old man stared at the Owl Statue, his face full of mockery.
Of course, he knew what had happened from the spies Talia, his disobedient daughter, had sent to Gotham.
A huge council that had been operating for over a hundred years had been destroyed overnight by a mysterious masked man.
Ra's al Ghul felt that if a force had become this pathetic, they might as well go find a block of tofu to kill themselves with.
En, the old man had also traveled through Asia, so he naturally understood some slang.
He waved his hand, and his subordinates rushed into the maze like beans being scattered.
Ra's al Ghul naturally understood Batman's thoughts.
After all, he was a master strategist, wasn't he? Just using the advantage of the terrain to counterattack.
But Ra's al Ghul, as the leader of the League of Assassins, didn't care.
And he'd found something very interesting: this masked man in the black uniform seemed to never kill.
In Ra's al Ghul's eyes, what was the difference between that and a psychopath? How could you protect what you wanted to protect if you didn't kill? So, in Ra's al Ghul's view, this was also a battle of ideologies. He wanted to force the masked man to kill, to break his principles, to kill his heart.
Ra's al Ghul stood quietly on the stone steps above the sewer, looking up at the giant labyrinth.
From time to time, unconscious assassins were carried out of the labyrinth's entrance by their comrades.
"Leader!"
The assassin squad leader knelt on one knee, his eyes filled with fear: "We can't find that guy."
"He's like a ghost in the darkness, his stealth is unmatched."
"And…"
The man hesitated, and Ra's al Ghul frowned slightly. "Continue."
"And," the squad leader lowered his head respectfully, "I believe his close combat skills bear the mark of the League of Assassins."
It wasn't difficult to recognize. The League of Assassins' close combat skills were top-tier in the underworld. It's like the major sects in cultivation novels; taught by the same master, you can always see the similarities.
"You mean he was once a member of the League of Assassins?"
Ra's al Ghul narrowed his eyes, thinking of a young man he had been quite fond of not long ago.
The young man's comprehension and character were both top-notch. He had even considered grooming him as a successor.
Unfortunately, the young man didn't play by the rules. After mastering the skills, he ran off without a word.
"Interesting."
Ra's al Ghul looked at the narrow maze.
In this terrain, his broadsword was useless.
So, the old man discarded his sword and entered the maze wearing only leather armor.
As a martial arts master, Ra's al Ghul was also confident in his bare-handed combat skills.
After stepping into the maze, Ra's al Ghul realized that the paths were complex and difficult to navigate. Sometimes, after turning left, he would inexplicably return to where he started.
Ra's al Ghul fell silent for a moment, looking at the ten-meter-high walls.
He was no fool, of course. Since he couldn't walk out, he might as well climb the wall to get a better view.
The eighty-year-old man bent his knees slightly, gathering his strength, just as a whistling sound came from behind him.
Without turning his head, Ra's al Ghul dodged with a beautiful backward bend, then spun around to face his side.
A tall figure was slowly emerging from the corner of the maze tunnel.
Batman, wearing a black cape, stared at Ra's al Ghul with a blank expression, while the batarang he had thrown at the man was already stuck in the wall, trembling slightly.
This was undoubtedly a warning. Batman stared at the old man, his blue eyes behind the mask filled with coldness, and slowly said, "Get out of my city!"
There were no fancy moves, nor any verbal sparring.
Ra's al Ghul and Batman quickly engaged in a fight.
Fists and palms collided, mixed with footwork, and the two were locked in a fierce battle.
Ra's al Ghul was getting more and more alarmed as the fight went on. Just as his subordinates had reported, the other man's moves had the shadow of the League of Assassins.
Another punch landed. Ra's al Ghul seized the opportunity, kicking Batman's arm, which was raised to block. Using the momentum, he leaped back to create some distance.
If Ra's al Ghul's expression had only been slightly mocking before, now the old man's icy gaze seemed to want to devour Batman alive.
No one likes a traitor. After the recent exchange, Ra's al Ghul was certain that his opponent was the vagrant who had recently defected from the League of Assassins, a man who called himself Bruce.
"Traitor." A flash of killing intent appeared in Ra's al Ghul's eyes. He whistled, intending to summon the nearby assassins.
Ra's al Ghul no longer wanted to play cat and mouse; he was going to flip the table.
But, Batman pulled out his Grappling Gun and shot it into the wall.
He planned to change the battlefield and continue to wear down the strength and energy of these assassins, at least until the Gotham police successfully intercepted the truck carrying the Dirty Bomb.
But, the grappling gun that should have been hanging on the wall suddenly came loose, as if someone had thrown it away.
A lazy, hoarse voice rang out above them: "Tight-suit Pervert, and you, the eighty-year-old man who ran out of the mental hospital in the middle of the night, stop what you're doing."
"Listen to me, you two, stop fighting. You're not going to kill anyone like this."
"You need to be more brutal."
Both of them looked up at the same time.
They saw a tall figure standing on the high wall of the maze, hands in pockets, a White Owl Mask covering their face and eyes. The figure tilted their head, sizing them up, appearing eerie and terrifying in the darkness.
