Chapter 108 - The Deceiver

"So, what's her situation now?"

Zatanna rested her chin in her hands, her gaze fixed on the woman.

Sometimes, the Demons in Hell were tasked by their masters to perform terrible deeds, sowing chaos and encouraging corruption.

The woman hesitated, then said, "She… she's tied up. My husband and I bound her limbs with cloth and gagged her. She's locked in the attic, in the innermost room."

"My husband is watching her now."

"I… I couldn't help myself. I couldn't just let her die."

Zatanna nodded. "I understand how you feel."

A determined glint flashed in the girl's eyes. She picked up a crucifix from the table and then, like a detective in a TV show, adjusted a detective hat that wasn't even there.

"What are we waiting for? Let's go!"

Maya stood up with Zatanna. As they were leaving, she glanced at Kino, asking, "Isn't he coming with us?"

Zatanna thought the woman might believe that more people meant more strength, and that the young man gave off an air of reliable strength.

"So, are you coming?"

Zatanna thought for a moment, then walked towards Kino, who had his eyes closed. She reached out and pinched the sides of his nose.

"Let go."

Woken up by the girl, Kino reluctantly pried her mischievous little hands away. He was about to refuse, but then he thought of the legendary Hell and Demons, and his interest was piqued.

"So, are we going?"

Zatanna raised an eyebrow, seeing through Kino's thoughts.

"Alright, I'll go with you."

Kino also stood up and took his trench coat from the coat rack.

Maya quickly thanked them and led the two out of the office.

"Get in my car."

The woman's car was a blue sedan.

The two of them sat in her car.

It was late, and Metropolis was bustling with traffic.

After driving for several dozen minutes, the three of them finally arrived at Maya's house.

It was a villa located on the west side of Metropolis, and the residents were mostly the middle class of the free United States.

They weren't particularly rich, but they weren't poor either.

"F-follow me."

Maya took out her keys from her bag, and the closer she got to the door, the more rapid her breathing became.

She seemed very nervous.

"Creak~"

The door opened.

This was a cozy-looking little house.

Tables, chairs, a sofa, a TV, a refrigerator, an oven, everything was there.

However, it seemed that because Sarah was possessed by a Demon, the curtains were closed and the lights were off, making the room appear exceptionally gloomy.

The strange noises from upstairs echoed in their ears from time to time, further shrouding the atmosphere in terror.

"She, she's up there."

Maya pointed upstairs to the second floor in terror.

"Let's go take a look."

As the daughter of a great magician, Zatanna's magic wasn't weak.

"Body Armor!"

The girl spoke softly, and as her words fell, a purple light intensified in her eyes.

Kino, standing beside her, also found himself covered in an invisible, untouchable wall of sturdy air.

This was Zatanna's unique backwards-word magic, using reversed words to cast spells.

"Let's go."

Zatanna clenched her fists and cautiously headed up to the second floor.

As a friend, she naturally knew Kino's strength.

The two of them walked up the creaking stairs to the second floor. Pubfuture Ads A strange sound came from the innermost room.

"Crunch, crunch."

It was like some kind of beast was chewing on something.

Kino turned his head and looked behind him, finding that the middle-aged woman named Maya hadn't followed.

"Don't you think this is strange?"

Kino patted Zatanna on the shoulder, signaling the girl to stop.

"What do you mean?"

Kino chuckled, a knowing look in his eyes. "Remember what that woman said to us at the agency?"

"Huh?" Zatanna tilted her head, looking confused.

"She said her husband was taking care of Sarah, her daughter."

Kino yawned, his gaze sweeping across the room. His god-like abilities allowed him to see through appearances and directly observe matter.

Ignoring the pink cartoon underwear the girl was wearing, his gaze went straight to the doorway.

In a dimly lit room, a figure was hunched over a bloated corpse, feeding on it.

The floor was soaked in blood, looking incredibly crimson and eerie.

The corpse's wide eyes and the kitchen knife plunged into its chest proved this wasn't a simple case. The girl's wrists showed no signs of being bound.

"In that room, a Demon is feasting on the corpse of the man who lived there, yet there are no restraints on her wrists or ankles."

"She's lying?!" Zatanna suddenly realized, turning her head. On the stairs behind them, Maya was walking towards them, holding an M1896 Shotgun.

"Click!"

The shotgun was cocked, the barrel aimed.

The woman no longer hid it, her pale face filled with a manic expression.

"You two, get in there right now!"

She gripped the handle tightly, the gun barrel aimed at Kino.

Zatanna was a little angry, glaring at the woman, as if flames could burst from her purple eyes at any moment: "You, why are you doing this?"

"Why are you doing this?" The woman sneered. "Because my daughter needs nourishment!"

Her eyes flashed an eerie red. Zatanna pursed her lips. "Kino, this woman has probably been bewitched by a Demon."

Just as exorcists have holy water, crosses, and American Iaido, Demons also possess evil magic, immense power, and the ability to bewitch people.

Kino shrugged, noncommittal, a mocking expression on his handsome face.

"Get inside!"

Maya raised her gun barrel, the chamber loaded with bullets designed to take lives.

At the same time, the wooden door behind them opened.

Bang!

Like an angry person slamming a door, a gust of cold wind swept through the hallway. Following the wind was a blonde girl in a thin nightgown, her face pale.

A strange, blood-red light flickered around her.

She slowly raised her head, revealing a mouthful of sharp, pointed teeth to Kino and Zatanna.

A low, raspy voice echoed in the hallway: "A magician and a strong man, you two must taste delicious."

"Now, walk over here!"

Maya's finger rested on the trigger, her eyes fixed on them threateningly.

But, the young man at the other end of the corridor seemed not to have heard.

Kino watched with interest as the Demon possessing the girl's body controlled her to walk towards them.

"Kino."

Zatanna clenched her fists: "I'll deal with that damn Demon, you hold off Maya."

"Why make it so complicated?" Kino sneered.

The next instant, a dazzling red light illuminated the entire corridor.

"Whoosh!"

Heat Vision, thousands of degrees hot, surged from the young man's eyes like magma. It howled, twisting the air, and shot towards the woman with the gun.

"I want them dead, now!"
