Chapter 112 - Interrogation and Pursuit

The first-floor living room of Zatanna's Mysterious Agency.

Mave was nearly drowned in the melting ice water. Who was Mave? Of course, it was the demon that had possessed the fly earlier.

Inside the glass bottle now.

Her thin wings were soaked with ice water, and her body was equally wet. The fly demon was trapped in the small glass cup, surrounded by energy shields that emitted a purple glow.

"Clang, clang~"

Kino leaned down and tapped the glass cup with his finger.

But the sound, to Mave, was like countless suona horns exploding in her ears. The enormous noise caused Mave to wail.

The fly staggered, propping itself up on its hind legs like it was trying to imitate a human, and screeched, tilting its green, oily head: "The great Mammon will lead us to conquer the human world! And then, I will personally gnaw your head off!"

Kino was surprised by how arrogant this demon was, but it also made him happy. This demon might know some inside information.

"Tsk, you don't know what's going on, do you?"

The youth smiled, suppressing the anger in his heart. He then took an insect repellent incense stick from the corner.

"I'll give you one last chance. Tell me everything you know."

"Impossible."

The fly demon was stubborn, but Kino was also ruthless. Without a word, he lit the incense stick and stuffed it into a glass bottle.

"Cough, cough, cough!"

A thick, foul stench slowly emanated from the bottle, the deadly odor causing the fly to emit a shrill cry.

But what was even more unfortunate was that although it had possessed the fly, the demon's soul was far more powerful.

In other words, ordinary incense would only cause the demon pain, but it wouldn't kill it.

Kino finished his work and sealed the glass bottle. Then, he turned and went into the kitchen to help Zatanna cook.

After they finished cooking, ate, and left the kitchen, the bottle was filled with white, mosquito-repelling smoke.

Kino picked up the bottle and shook it, a faint clinking sound coming from inside.

"Now, are you going to talk?"

"You two demons, kill me!"

In the smoke, Mave's shrill screams echoed. This damned human was more demonic than any demon. He even thought Lucifer should get this man tattooed on him.

Who uses mosquito coils to torture during an exorcism?!

"If you don't speak, I'll give you a few more," Kino sneered, picking up several more insect repellent incense sticks.

"Oh Satan, no, please, I, I'll talk!"

The demon's sharp voice even carried a hint of a sob.

Zatanna, sitting on the sofa, perked up her ears, listening for the information.

The demon howled, "It's the Spear of Destiny, the Spear of Destiny!"

Kino looked at Zatanna.

The girl frowned, stood up, and took an encyclopedia from the bookshelf to browse. She quickly provided an answer.

"The Spear of Destiny, also known as the Lance of Longinus, is said to have been the weapon used by a Roman soldier to pierce Jesus, and because it was stained with the blood of the Son of God, it possesses some incredible power."

Zatanna's face darkened considerably because she had already made some guesses about what Lucifer's son was trying to do.

"So?"

"He's very likely trying to use this divine artifact to return to the human world."

Zatanna flipped through the book, analyzing, and quickly found the relevant content. She read aloud, "To bring a powerful demon to the human world, one needs a Spear of Destiny stained with the blood of the Son of God, a medium with a natural Medium ability, and the help of an angel."

"A medium is a human who is born with the ability to see ghosts and spirits."

"But the help of a powerful angel is absolutely impossible."

Zatanna muttered to herself, her face full of conflict. "Those higher angels are utterly loyal to God and would never betray Him."

Kino shrugged, offering a different perspective: "How did Lucifer fall from grace in the first place?"

Zatanna fell silent, her expression growing increasingly grim.

She knew things were about to get serious.

If they really let Mammon return to the human world, it would be a disaster for everyone.

Zatanna's usual policy of non-interference was based on her own life being unaffected. But if the son of a demon descended upon the world, nobody would have a good time.

The existing order would collapse, and chaos and slaughter would become the norm.

This ran completely counter to Zatanna's ideals.

The girl took a deep breath, fixing Kino with a serious gaze: "Kino, I'm in on your plan to kill Mammon!"

"Uh-huh~"

Kino shrugged, dropping the glass bottle to the floor as he murmured, "I've said what I needed to say. Now, it's time to send this demon back to Hell."

The boy slowly lifted his gray leather shoe, addressing the demon trapped within the glass. "When you get back, could you do me a favor and tell Mammon to wash his neck and wait for me?"

Before the words had finished, the shoe descended.

"Splatter!"

The glass shattered, crushing the fly's husk. The flattened body, mixed with red and green innards, left a stain on the floor.

"What's next?"

Having dealt with the demon, Kino picked up the water glass from the table and took a sip. Professional matters required professional handling.

Zatanna pursed her lips, her expression grim. "We're going somewhere where we can find a Medium."

[Negative emotions from Zatanna +10, +10.]

Metropolis.

St. Mary's Church.

A depiction of the crucifixion of Jesus hung in the center of the church. In the painting, Jesus was nailed to a cross, his hands pierced. A Roman soldier with a spear was piercing Jesus's chest.

A deep red carpet ran down the center of the hall, flanked by neatly arranged bookshelves.

The ornate chandeliers overhead further enhanced the sacred and inviolable atmosphere of the church.

"Clack."

Black leather shoes stepped onto the clean carpet.

Kino brushed the frost off his trench coat, walking alongside Zatanna.

A young priest approached them.

"Can I help you?"

"No, we're fine. Just looking for someone."

Zatanna's gaze went past the young priest, focusing on a sitting area behind him.

There, on a chair, sat a blonde beauty. Her pale skin and features were perfectly sculpted, as if by God himself. Even sitting there, she radiated a sense of purity.

She wore a black priest's robe and had a serene expression.

The priest nodded and turned to leave.

"Is that woman the person you're looking for?"

Kino glanced at the girl and instinctively activated his x-ray vision, only to find her shrouded in a pristine halo.

Strange, I can't see through her.

Zatanna nervously clenched her fists. "She's not human."

Kino chuckled. "Interesting."

The two of them approached.

The girl looked at Zatanna, but her gaze lingered on Kino. She slowly closed her book, raised an eyebrow, and smiled as she stood up.

As the woman rose, a gentle aura silently expanded, making people feel refreshed.

"Good evening."

The woman stared at Kino. "I don't know what business brings you to the church so late at night."

"How may I help you?"
