Chapter 122 - Quantum Mask (Revised)

If there was one word to describe Lucifer's current state of mind, "dumbfounded" would be the most fitting.

He watched the young man with seraph wings suspended in the air, surrounded by a vast and holy angelic light that starkly contrasted with his own ugliness.

However, as the first light in the world, God's first creation, Lucifer quickly recovered. Replacing his confusion was boundless rage.

Lucifer mistakenly believed that the other possessed everything he once had, a sign that God had created another "Lucifer."

But in reality, it was just because Kino had cheated.

Jealousy. For the first time, Lucifer felt the emotion of jealousy.

It was like the tsundere female lead in a second-rate Japanese light novel.

Lucifer always liked to antagonize God, but no one knew that everything he did was just to get his father's attention.

He was his father's first "child" and should have received the most love.

"You, how dare you?!" Lucifer trembled, staring fixedly at Kino. At this moment, the earth seemed to be weeping for the fallen angel. The ground cracked and shattered, and endless, scorching magma surged out, threatening to engulf everything above it.

Kino looked at Lucifer calmly. He had fought against his opponent countless times, and had copied Lucifer's talent the first time they fought, otherwise how could he have dared to deploy a biological field?

"Hahaha!" The originally elegant and dignified fallen angel was now like a madman. Every time he waved his arm, he blasted a huge pit in the ground.

The entire city's buildings collapsed, and many bystanders who were still in stasis had their heads smashed by falling debris.

Kino knew he had to make it quick.

"Buzz~"

The power of the angels surged and trembled, the Angel Sword, formed of holy energy, shining with brilliant light.

"Die!"

Kino dove down from high above, his Angel Wings and steel body adding to his speed, allowing him to surpass the speed of light in an instant.

Clang!

Lucifer also raised his Fallen Angel Sword to block, the holy sword colliding with the fallen sword, erupting with dazzling, eye-catching light.

Time, space, everything seemed to freeze at this moment.

Everything around them receded at an extremely fast speed.

The scene shifted, the stars and constellations changed.

In an instant, Kino found himself standing in a vast, white space.

All the colors seemed to have been stripped away, leaving only a blinding white expanse.

Kino looked around, and then, a cold voice, devoid of any emotion, echoed from all directions: "Stop."

Following that, a dazzling golden light enveloped the space in front of Kino.

Only that vast voice could be heard.

The energy sword in Kino's hand crumbled and disintegrated.

"Who's there?" Kino cautiously scanned his surroundings, only to see Lucifer looking dazed, muttering, "Father."

Father.

Father!

Father?

Kino had this thought in his heart.

Lucifer's father, Lucifer's creator, God!?

No wonder he would interfere with my fight against Lucifer.

Kino sighed. Only God had the power to stop this conflict.

Kino extinguished the desire to fight that burned within him and looked up at the white, vast sky.

He heard the voice continue: "Stop the fighting, the Earth needs to survive." "Why?"

Lucifer gritted his teeth. "Are you favoring this human!?"

"What did you see?" Kino asked directly. God is omniscient, and naturally able to predict the future, which is a very powerful ability.

"Earth's destruction, unable to continue."

God gave the reason. If they continued fighting, the aftershocks of Kino and Lucifer's battle would destroy the entire planet.

Hearing the answer from God's voice, Kino fell silent.

The young man pinched his chin, thinking.

Of course, he didn't want to see the Earth destroyed. He still had friends and family on Earth, he couldn't lose them.

"I can stop fighting, but how do you control Lucifer?"

There was no response, but in the next second, Lucifer's form began to flicker. In the next instant, countless time fragments appeared around them. Among them were scenes of Zatanna and Constantine stopping Balthazar, as well as a grand scene of Kino and Lucifer battling and destroying an entire skyscraper.

"These are time streams."

God spoke slowly: "I will intercept the timeline where you and Lucifer are fighting, and seal it off. What you need to do is return to Earth and avoid conflict with Lucifer."

"As a reward, I will give you a gift."

Accompanied by a bright golden light, silver and blue quantum energy converged. A brand new Quantum Mask appeared in Kino's palm.

"This is a mask that allows you to traverse multi-dimensional space-time and leap out of the Source Wall."

"When you wear this mask, you can jump outside of the DC Universe and travel."

Kino only felt as if an invisible gaze had swept over him, and he couldn't help but shiver. It seemed that he could see something deeper within the young man. God's voice said, "I believe you won't refuse."

Hearing God's words and the conditions offered, a flicker of heat flashed in Kino's eyes.

To jump out of the DC Universe?

Didn't that mean he could go to other cosmic planes to explore?

"I admit it's tempting, so, the deal is done."

Kino clenched the Quantum Mask in his hand. It looked like it was made of burlap, the texture was rough.

But Kino could feel the wonderful energy contained within it.

The white light around them was also constantly receding.

When the red-white light receded, Kino found himself standing on the ninth floor of a high-rise building, and not far away was Balthazar, who had turned into a cloud of black mist, holding the Spear of Destiny and stabbing at Angela.

God rewound time. As for Lucifer?

He should have been taught a lesson by the old man and lost his desire to fight Kino. Anyway, he was nowhere to be seen.

"Let there be light," God said.

Kino snapped his fingers, freezing time. He removed Constantine, who was lying on the ground and about to slit his wrists to summon Lucifer, and then walked towards the black fog, a golden light emanating from his hand.

The holy energy landed on the black fog, dissolving and rising like snow melting in flames.

Poor Balthazar. He didn't even have a chance to scream before he vanished.

Kino snapped his fingers again, allowing time to flow once more through his fingertips.

"Whew!"

Constantine on the ground squeezed his eyes shut and slashed at his wrist, but the expected pain didn't come.

Constantine opened his eyes again, the shard of glass in his hand gone. He looked towards Angela. The black mist that had shrouded the girl's head had dissipated. Moonlight streamed through the glass window into the room. Kino, his expression placid, leaned against the wall with his arms crossed, and said softly, "It's all over, Constantine."

"Everything with me."

Kino spoke softly, but his words contained a sense of authority and dominance.

"The crisis is resolved!"
