Without hesitation, Gino's voice cut through the air: "Keep these shares for yourself. I'm not interested in helping you investigate Lex."
To Lionel's surprise, Gino's refusal was clean and decisive, without even a moment's thought.
It was as if the trillion-dollar shares were nothing to him.
After refusing Lionel, he left the manor and went to Kent Farm.
He went to the second floor of the abandoned warehouse that Clark had transformed into the "Fortress of Solitude."
An astronomical telescope stood before a wooden window. Gino guessed Clark probably used the little thing every night to observe Lana's house, which was three kilometers away.
Hmm, in a way, Clark is quite the closet romantic.
"Make yourself comfortable, Gino."
Clark led Gino upstairs, still carrying a box of wine barrels. These were from Gino's own underground cellar, taken before he left the manor.
According to Gino, the wine was brewed with something called "Amber Gold" and was supposedly delicious.
But Clark wasn't impressed.
He and Gino both had extraordinary physiques; alcohol couldn't get either of them drunk.
"This is quite interesting."
Gino fiddled with a telescope for a while, leaning against the window as he watched Clark. "What did you want to talk about?"
"It's like this, Gino." Clark looked serious, pursing his lips. "What do you think of the new teacher, Desiree Akins?"
"Akins?" Gino glanced at Clark, retorting, "What do you think?"
"Me." Clark sighed, then elaborated, "You know, something bad or someone troublesome turns up for me almost every few days."
"And that teacher, Akins, obviously doesn't seem…"
Clark paused, searching for the right words, and after a moment said, "Proper. She doesn't seem very proper."
"So?"
"So, I went to the newspaper club to look for information about her."
Clark frowned, "I used the newspaper's computer to search for her information then."
"The interesting thing is, she wasn't always called 'Desiree Akins,' but rather 'Allison Sanders.'"
"So," Gino sighed, voicing Clark's own suspicions, "she's also connected to the meteor shower fourteen years ago, right?"
Clark immediately nodded, "That's right."
"I searched the campus newspapers from that time, based on the timeline of fourteen years ago, and came to an interesting conclusion."
Clark took the backpack off his shoulder and pulled out a stack of newspapers, handing them to Gino, "You need to see these."
Gino took the newspapers and started to look through them, taking a moment to read.
The young man's lips curled into a smile.
"Interesting. This Ms. Allison seems to have been pursued by boys since high school."
"When the meteor shower happened, she was parked by the lake with her boyfriend."
"Hmm, a man and woman parked by the lake."
"My first conclusion is, she's not a virgin."
Clark's face was covered in black lines: "Is that an important clue, Gino?!"
He was truly helpless. Why was Gino focusing on such strange things?
"No, no, no, this is an important clue."
Gino chuckled: "Generally speaking, if a woman has a loose private life, it often indirectly confirms her psychological state."
"For example, extremely selfish."
Gino said seriously, and Clark couldn't help but feel a sense of respect: "I didn't expect you to know psychology?"
"No, everything I said before was just me talking nonsense."
Gino laughed. He wasn't a professional psychologist, so how could he possibly know if someone's promiscuous personal life had anything to do with them being a pervert?
"But it seems like our teacher, Akins, isn't simple at all."
Gino pulled out a newspaper and tapped it with his finger: "After the meteor shower, Teacher Akins's boyfriend went completely insane. He killed Akins's parents, allowing her to inherit all of their assets."
"And even more interesting, five years later, Akins became a teacher and married a wealthy tycoon." Gino pulled out a newspaper from five years later: "And shortly after, her husband was killed by a crazed high school student in her class."
"After that, she inherited all of the wealth as well."
"A legacy black widow." Gino sneered, delivering a sharp assessment. In Eastern terms, she was a "scholarship Daji."
Climbing up by stepping on the "remains" of men, a base and disgusting method, not glorious, but efficient.
Clark sighed, "That's exactly what I was going to say, Gino."
"She's after you now, probably hoping to replay the same act as before. Everyone knows how wealthy the Luthor Family is, and I'm worried about your safety."
Gino smiled at Clark's concern, and patted his shoulder with some comfort, "Thanks for the concern, but I have some guesses about her motives too."
"One thing's for sure, she's got the ability to arouse male desire."
Clark asked, "So, what should we do?"
"I'll handle this."
"Now, let's enjoy some wine."
Gino changed the subject, prying open the wooden barrel on the ground. Then, as if by magic, he flipped his hands and a pair of wine glasses appeared in his palms.
The ruby-red wine, shimmering with a galaxy of light, filled the glass.
Bathed in the evening sun,
the two raised their glasses.
"Cheers."
"To friendship."
The rims clicked together with a delicate ding, the liquid within swirling. The slightly bitter, yet spicy, wine went down, and Clark didn't even bat an eye as he finished it.
He didn't think he'd get drunk.
Superman's physiology meant Clark's metabolism was far faster than a normal person's.
But,
The Amber Gold Gino added to the liquor clearly gave the drink a different effect.
Clark didn't even finish it.
"Thud!"
He fell straight down, slamming heavily onto the abandoned floor. His steel body crushed the wooden boards, sending him tumbling down to the first floor.
Gino hadn't expected Clark's tolerance to be so low.
"Clark?"
Gino lightly jumped down to the first floor.
At this moment, Clark was lying on a pile of supplies, his originally pale face now red as burning coal.
"Wake up, Clark." Gino helplessly rubbed Clark's cheek. He could only say that people's constitutions differed. The future great Superman would actually get drunk; it was quite interesting.
"I need to record this."
Gino found a camera and filmed Clark's predicament, pinching Clark's nostrils.
"Hic, wha, what time is it now?"
Breathing was difficult, and Clark, still half-asleep, mumbled incoherently as he swayed to his feet.
Drunk Clark was clearly no different from any other drunkard. He walked as if performing a drifting art, staggering.
"You're drunk, Clark."
Gino put away the camera and reached out to stop Clark. He didn't want Clark to go on a drunken rampage and expose the town's secrets.
"I, I want to confess to La, Lana!"
Clark shook his head, clenching his fist and shouting.
"I've always had a crush on her, I..."
Before the big boy could finish speaking, an arm slammed into the back of Clark's neck, knocking him unconscious.
Gino knocked Clark out with a single blow and tossed him onto a pile of weeds. "Stop recounting your pathetic crush story. You need to rest now."
"And I, perhaps I should go chat with Teacher Akins about life."
Gino's expression was playful. After learning about Teacher Akins's amorous past, he was very much looking forward to the woman's reaction.
