Chapter 6 - Chapter 5 :The Fairy system

,

Despite the immense pain that coursed through him, sheer fatigue soon enveloped Fai, and it wasn't long before he drifted off to sleep.

after a couple of hours since Fai went to sleep , something extraordinary happened,..... something that would undoubtedly change his life forever.

[CONGRATULATIONS! HOST HAS REACHED THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ACTIVATION OF THE FAIRY SYSTEM.]

An utterly robotic female voice resonated directly in his head. However, due to the profound depths of his sleep, Fai was unable to hear this astonishing information.

Yet, the voice was not done; it spoke further.

"[HOST STATE IS CRITICAL. AUTO-RESTORATION PROTOCOL WILL COMMENCE NOW.]"

As the system declared this, the wounds all over Fai's body could be seen healing at a noticeable, almost miraculous speed.

His skin, previously mottled with bruises and cuts, began to clear.

Even the broken bones inside him were audibly repositioning themselves, snapping back to their original state with unnatural swiftness.

In mere moments, Fai was restored to normal, almost as if he hadn't been attacked at all.

But Fai remained unaware of the profound changes his own body was undergoing, wrapped in his deep slumber.

The next morning, Fai woke up feeling more energized than usual, a lightness in his limbs like he hadn't felt in years.

The nagging, sore pain from his muscles was completely gone, replaced by a strange, invigorating vitality.

"What the... What happend to me ?, my Wounds, their gone , even my ribs don't seem to hurt anymore "

He stretched his body, still finding it difficult to believe that his wounds would just heal for no reason, especially after such a brutal beating.

Even touching his side, he could feel that his ribs had been perfectly mended. He then started to press against them, trying to ignite perhaps a lingering pain from within, but nothing, his bones were completely healed, as if they had never been broken.

How had he gotten healed, let alone at such a fast pace, was a question that needed an answer, but he couldnt seem to have an answer to that .

He was left utterly perplexed.

Fai then decided to meticulously go through his memories, the events that transpired last night, thinking of everything he did, hoping to recall something.

Perhaps he had subconsciously consumed a powerful healing potion or eaten something with incredible regenerative capability.

That would at least best explain his current situation, this sophisticated healing.

But no matter how hard he thought, he couldn't remember taking a potion or anything of the sort.

However, he could remember something, a faint, almost dreamlike echo.

"A female voice!" Fai screamed inwardly, a jolt of recognition shooting through him.

And just as the thought formed, it appeared directly in front of him: a luminous, fluorescent green screen, shimmering faintly in the air of his room, with the words written upon it.

[CONGRATULATIONS! HOST HAS REACHED THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ACTIVATION OF THE FAIRY SYSTEM.]

Fai stared at the glowing green screen hovering just inches from his face. It was as if a piece of the world's impossible stories had simply materialized in his dusty room.

His mind, still reeling from the miraculous healing, struggled to process this new, impossible phenomenon.

Fairy System? What did that even mean? Was he dreaming? Was this some after-effect of the beating, maybe hallucination brought on by fatigue ? He pinched himself hard, The sharp pain was real.

"This is so cool "

Hesitantly, Fai reached out a hand trying to touch the screen in front of him, His fingers passed through the green light without resistance, yet the screen remained there , hovering precisely where he had seen it.

It was as if it existed on a different plane, visible only to him. He could read the words perfectly, their glowing letters seeming to draw him in.

"But, how does this thing work, I can't even touch it, how do i even access it"

Fai said, it was something he needed to know, à basic knowledge at least.

Then soon à thought came to his head.

He focused on the screen before him and slowly , the words shifted, morphing into a new display.

Below the initial message, two glowing options appeared:

[STATUS]

[QUESTS]

His heart pounded with a mixture of fear and a rush of excitement. This wasn't a hallucination. This was real.

And it was a system, just like in the old-world stories he'd sometimes heard about, tales of games where heroes grew stronger by completing tasks and viewing their progress.

Could this be it ? Could this be his mutation? The power he'd yearned for?

Driven by a desperate hope and excitement , Fai mentally willed himself to select

"[STATUS]".

The screen shimmered again, dissolving the previous options to display new information.

A grid of data filled the green screen, presenting his own abilities in hard numbers.

Fai's eyes widened, scanning the information he could see on the screen, it was real .

The first thing he noticed was his second name.

Until now, Fai was unaware of the fact that he had a second name.

After the war, any child who had lost their parents would be given a second name depending on the family that would adopt them.

Those who were unfortunate would not have the chance to have a second name.

That's why the fact that he had a second name was a surprise to him. Not that he didn't like it; it just was something he wasn't expecting.

And the fact he had a second name was comforting in a way, making him feel more connected to his lost family.

"Oberon," Fai thought, smirking to himself,

"one day the world will know this name."

He meant it.

Looking at the screen once more, Fai realized that the name wasn't the only strange thing.

When looking at the "Race" tab on the screen, he noticed that what was written wasn't what he thought it should normally be.

"Isn't it supposed to be human? Why is it writing fairy? Could it be a mistake? Even still, how would it mistake me for a fairy? Aren't fairies meant to be like cute, tiny creatures with wings and fairy dust?"

Fai thought

As then looked at himself to check if there were maybe new characteristics to him that he wasn't aware of.

And, of course, there were none, at least none that his eyes could see.

"I'm not even small, let alone possessing wings. Come to think of it, how did I even manage to get this Fairy System in the first place?"

Questions kept running through Fai's mind, questions for which he had no answers and didn't even know how or where to get them.

But thinking about it more, he could remember the first system notification saying he had reached the requirements for the activation of the system.

But what was the requirement to begin with? It wasn't like it was something he knew; if he had, he would have activated the system long ago. "Could it be the beating from yesterday?" Fai thought, just the thought of the beating sending shivers down his spine.

It wasn't the first time he was beaten by Kael's group, but this time it was quite harder than before.

However, it was clear that it wasn't the beating that had activated the system, but something else.

Thinking again, Fai thought of what he could have done yesterday that he didn't do today, and that's when it came to him.

"Today is my birthday!" Fai said out loud as the realization struck him.

Of course, today was his birthday! How could he have forgotten? He was now 16 years old.

But did it really have any connection to the system? It wasn't really logical, but it was the only explanation he could come up with.

Yet, it still didn't even answer the question of how he got the system.

Keeping these thoughts aside, he decided to forget about them for now.

He didn't have the answers to these questions, and thinking about them wouldn't help in any way.

Moving his mind back to the system in front of him, Fai continued to assess the information. Looking closely, he realized that every one of his stats was at the same level, apart from HP and the usable stats tab.

"With this system, it will be easy for me to see my growth,"

Fai said to himself, looking at the system with admiration and excitement in his eyes.

"Well, for the moment I have just one skill, storage, and it's a low grade . I just hope it will come in handy. Maybe if I level up, the system will give me more skills or even level up this current one. Talking about that, I guess it's time I checked the Quest tab!"

Fai said to himself.
