In a vibrant, emerald forest, where towering trees pierced the sky, each trunk bore deep, jagged marks of countless battles. Standing opposite these scarred trees was a young teenager named Fai.

His spiky brown hair framed a face etched with the undeniable history of hardships, a canvas of scars. A black patch covered one of his eyes, a constant reminder of a sight lost to a brutal strugle

Sweat, like tiny rivers, poured down his face as he stood absolutely still, breathing heavily. His clothes, worn and thin, were soaked through as if he'd just emerged from a sudden, heavy downpour, clinging to his slender frame. Despite his exhaustion, he held a wooden sword firmly in his hand, striking a perfect, disciplined fighting stance.

"Weak... it's still so weak... I'm still weak," Fai mumbled, his voice barely a whisper, laced with deep concern. "At this rate, I won't even make it through the assessment, let alone even dream of gaining entry to the Muted Association."

The words were a heavy burden, reflecting the immense pressure that weighed on his young shoulders.

Fifty years ago, the very fabric of Earth's existence was ripped apart by a sudden, brutal attack.

From what seemed like the deepest, most terrifying corners of hell, monstrous creatures emerged, unleashing chaos and destruction upon humanity. These beasts were incredibly diverse, ranging in size, shape, and terrifying strength. However, one terrifying characteristic united them all: an overwhelming bloodlust.

They attacked humans with a savage, reckless abandon that left cities in ruins and countless lives shattered.

Modern weaponry, the pride of human innovation, proved utterly useless against them. Bullets seemed to bounce off their hides, and even the most powerful bombs barely left a scratch. Humanity fought back with every ounce of courage and desperation, but their efforts, no matter how relentless, seemed to have no effect. The world teetered on the brink of complete annihilation.

But just when all hope seemed lost, salvation arrived in the form of a groundbreaking scientific discovery. A brilliant, visionary scientist, working against all odds, successfully found a way to mutate human genes. This wasn't just a small tweak; it was a profound alteration, granting humans the ability to perform incredible, truly inhuman feats of strength, speed, and resilience.

This unprecedented breakthrough finally gave them a fighting chance, a glimmer of hope against the monstrous invaders who had driven them to the edge of extinction. With these newly unlocked powers, humanity began to push back, turning the tide in a war they had seemed destined to lose.

Unfortunately, it was during this horrific incident, this brutal turning point in human history, that Fai tragically lost his parents. Their sacrifice, like so many others, became a silent motivation, a driving force behind his relentless pursuit of strength.

In the present day, Fai was engaged in relentless training, pushing his body and mind to their absolute limits in preparation for the pivotal Muted Assessment. This crucial evaluation was scheduled to take place in just one week, a deadline that loomed large over his every waking moment.

Following the immense scientific breakthrough and humanity's ability to finally stand a chance in the war, their hard work and unwavering dedication in defending their planet had truly paid off.

For the past fifteen years, a fragile sense of calm had settled over the world. However, even with the apparent decrease in immediate tension, human society remained acutely aware that another, potentially even more devastating, attack from those creatures was not only possible but likely. They simply had no idea when or where it would strike.

Therefore, their focus was on being prepared rather than being caught off guard and facing irreversible regret.

The memory of the first attack, was a constant, chilling reminder that complacency was a luxury they could not afford.

The very structure of the world had undergone a complete and fundamental transformation.

In the past, the path to a successful life was clearly defined: children attended school, typically finishing high school by the age of 16. After that, they would choose a reputable university to continue their studies, aiming to earn a valuable certificate.

This certificate would then open doors to a good job, and the quality of one's certificate directly correlated with the prestige of their employment and their standing in society. But now, that entire system had been dismantled, replaced by a new, more urgent reality.

Now, at the tender age of 16, children from every corner of the globe were required to undertake a critical assessment. This wasn't just any test; it was an event that would have a profound and lasting impact on the entirety of their lives.

The assessment was meticulously designed to identify and select the future generations of guardians, those who would stand as Earth's defenders if and when another attack occurred.

It was a rigorous and demanding process, ensuring that only the most capable and promising individuals would be chosen for this monumental responsibility.

Anyone who managed to successfully make it through this grueling assessment was already guaranteed a bright and prosperous future.

Their lives would be free from the anxieties of financial hardship, a life where money would genuinely never be an issue.

This promise served as a powerful motivator, driving countless teenagers to push themselves beyond their perceived limits.

After the assessment, those select individuals who had proven their worth would be sent to the Muted Training Association (MTA).

Here, they would undergo an intense and specialized three-year training regimen to beconem Muted Hunters.

These were the elite warriors, the front-line defenders specifically trained to combat and defeat the invading creatures, armed with their mutated abilities and advanced combat techniques.

Upon the completion of their training, these newly forged Muted Hunters would then have to make a crucial choice regarding their future path.

Some opted to work under a faction, a unit operating directly under the umbrella of one of the powerful Guilds.

These Guilds were vast organizations that commanded significant resources and influence.

Others, more ambitious or independent-minded, might try to create their own faction, driven by the dream of eventually building it into a colossal Guild one day, carving their own legacy in history.

Still others preferred the solitude and autonomy of being solo hunters, minimizing their affiliations with any Guild and operating independently, answering only to themselves.

And in some rare, exceptional cases, certain individuals were even granted direct invitations from established factions themselves, or even from the prestigious Guild houses, recognizing their unique potential and offering them a fast-track into the highest positions of the Muted world.

Each path presented its own unique challenges and rewards, but all were dedicated to the singular goal of protecting humanity.
