Chapter 57 - Chapter 57: Stardust Dragon vs. Red Dragon Archfiend! The 5D's World is Fired Up!

Having understood, the DM world immediately began discussing it!

Yugi Muto: "Thank you, Mr. Hoshi, for finding this video to answer our questions. I understand now."

Mai Valentine: "Mhm, so these banned cards have a chance of being released, but either their effects are changed, or they can no longer keep up with the current environment, is that right?"

Joey Wheeler: "Uh, so I still don't get why Pot of Greed is banned!"

Tristan Taylor (Honda Hiroto): "Joey, what are you panicking for? That banlist is for their world, not ours! We don't have one!"

Tristan's reminder woke them all up!

Oh, right! This banlist didn't apply to them! Here, there was no banlist! Pot of Greed? Use it! Harpie's Feather Duster? Graceful Charity? Use them! Nothing to worry about!

The Higher World was the Higher World. The DM World was the DM World. Their world had no reason to fear a banlist.

This was indeed the truth. Even the Egyptian God Cards in their world had their most powerful and terrifying effects, whereas the God Cards in the Higher World had their power greatly diminished!

GX World

After hearing about K-Snake's four nerfing methods, the students and teachers of Duel Academy looked at each other in dismay. They never would have imagined that the Higher World had so many ways to control power levels! In that case, the dueling environment in that Higher World must be very balanced and diverse, right?

"Alright, well, we still have to accept the facts."

"We don't really have a strict banlist here."

"After all, KaibaCorp hasn't suppressed many cards."

"Pot of Greed and Graceful Charity are staples at three copies in every deck!"

"Mr. Hoshi, your rules don't have much to do with us."

Having figured this out, Jaden Yuki posted a comment to interact with Yusei Hoshi, and the other students chimed in to agree.

Main World

Reading the chats from both worlds, Yusei Hoshi's mouth twitched. That was actually a fair point. But he had to admit, if staples like Pot of Greed and Graceful Charity were unlimited, he couldn't imagine what the dueling environment in his own world would become!

Even though everyone could run three copies, GY-focused decks could use Graceful Charity to dig for cards and change their fate. He didn't know how many low-consistency combo decks would have their ceiling raised. The simplest example would be an Exodia deck. Its success rate might jump dramatically, maybe even to 70% or higher! The entire meta might just become shaped by Exodia!

Of course, that's assuming it wasn't interrupted.

"Never mind. After they see the banlist, if future videos involve banned cards, they should be able to understand," he thought.

"Next up is... unlocking the 5D's World."

Yusei Hoshi quickly saw a new notification.

[Congratulations, user Yusei Hoshi, you have successfully enabled the 5D's World unlock function.]

[Would user Yusei Hoshi like to spend 2000 points to unlock the 5D's World?]

"Confirm. Unlock it."

[Ding! Congratulations, user Yusei Hoshi, unlock successful!]

[Please check the 5D's World related information!]

After a series of notifications, Yusei Hoshi noticed that among the new functions and the standard 5D's chat group, a new option had appeared.

This option was... the Turbo Dueling (Riding Duel) motorcycle option!

Wait. What? It came with a simulated Turbo Dueling function? Or rather, he could use this to experience a Turbo Duel for himself! Unlocking it would cost another 3000 points. Yusei Hoshi considered his wallet and decided to wait until he had accumulated more points from a few more videos. After all, a Turbo Duel would only be fun if he could play against others. A single-player mode wouldn't be as interesting.

"First, let's see what the people in the 5D's world are talking about after seeing the banlist video. This should be the chat group, right?"

Yusei Hoshi clicked open the 5D's world chat group. Immediately, one comment after another started appearing!

Yusei Fudo: "I actually think this 'K-Snake' banlist is a good thing. Many cards are just too disgusting. Without restrictions, I can't imagine how broken their Higher World environment would be."

Jack Atlas: "That may be so, but they can't be locked in prison forever, right? According to the video, it seems many cards have been locked away for several years."

Crow Hogan: "Hahaha! Who cares! It's got nothing to do with us!"

Akiza Izinski (Izayoi Aki): "Mhm. Instead of thinking about that, why don't you guys think about what the next video will be?"

Tetsu Trudge: "Man, the content from this Higher World is so bizarre. First a deck profile, then a single card introduction, and now a banlist..."

After reading, Yusei Hoshi cleared his throat and activated the voice message function to speak to them.

Yusei Hoshi: "Greetings, duelists of the 5D's world."

Yusei Hoshi: "I am the one controlling the video content from the Higher World."

Yusei Hoshi: "My name is Yusei Hoshi."

Yusei Hoshi: "It's a pleasure to be able to communicate with you!"

5D's World

Yusei Hoshi's words echoed from the virtual screens of every Turbo Duel motorcycle. Every duelist currently in a Turbo Duel was startled by the sudden voice. Many almost fell off their bikes!

And back at Sector Security headquarters, Yusei Fudo and the others' pupils contracted!

Every single one of them was shaken to their core!

The Higher World? So there really was someone in the Higher World controlling the video content! How interesting! This was getting more and more fascinating! They could now talk to someone from the Higher World.

Yusei Fudo: "You are...? Someone from the Higher World?"

Tetsu Trudge: "Listen, kid, you better be! If I find out you're some hacker who took over our systems, watch out! You'll end up in jail!"

Crow Hogan: "If you really are, do you have any way to prove it?"

Akiza Izinski: "Perhaps... could you let us choose the content of the next video?"

Main World

Reading their doubts and questions, Yusei Hoshi smiled to himself. As expected. The 5D's world, just like the previous two worlds, was skeptical. But that was fair. If it were him, he would also be wary of a sudden voice like this.

Yusei Hoshi: "Of course. Tell me what you want to see. I can find the relevant video for you."

5D's World

Yusei Fudo and Jack Atlas looked at each other. Old memories began to surface. If they could, the match they wanted to see was...

Stardust Dragon vs. Red Dragon Archfiend!

That's right. They wanted to see how these two decks would perform in the Higher World!

Yusei Fudo: "If you can, please find us a duel between [Stardust Dragon] and [Red Dragon Archfiend]."

Jack Atlas: "That's right. If we can see a duel between those two decks, we will believe you!"

Main World

The content of the next video was decided. There was nothing more to say.

Yusei Hoshi immediately searched for the video. Once he found it, the title appeared.

"Stardust Dragon vs. Red Dragon Archfiend! The Fated Duel That Stirs the Soul!"

The video began to play.

Stardust Dragon Player vs. Red Dragon Archfiend Player.

Both players' Life Points: 8000 LP!

First turn: Stardust Dragon Player.

As the video's content was revealed, the duelists from the other five worlds became interested. So they could finally see what a duel in that world was like?

And in the 5D's world, Yusei Fudo, Jack Atlas, and the others tensed up!

The next video really was Stardust Dragon vs. Red Dragon Archfiend! That meant the person named Yusei Hoshi was telling the truth!

With a mix of excitement and complicated emotions, the people of 5D's stopped what they were doing and turned their attention to the duel on the screen!

On the video:

The Stardust Dragon Player, taking the first turn, immediately began to set up his board!

Stardust Player: "I activate the effect of [Junk Converter] in my hand. I can send this card and 1 Tuner from my hand to the GY to add 1 'Synchron' monster from my Deck to my hand. I choose to search for [Junk Synchron]."

Stardust Player: "I Normal Summon [Junk Synchron]! Its effect brings back [Junk Converter] from the Graveyard! Level 3 plus Level 2 equals 5! I Synchro Summon! The Level 5 [Junk Speeder]!"

With a standard Level 5 Synchro Summon, a never-before-seen "Junk" Synchro Monster appeared in the Extra Monster Zone! This standard Synchro play brought a smile of satisfaction to the faces of the 5D's duelists. This was Synchro Summoning! No doubt about it!

But Yusei Fudo's face turned pale! Wait. What were this "Converter" and "Speeder"? It seemed he hadn't obtained that power yet.

Stardust Player: "I activate the effect of [Junk Speeder]! If this card is Synchro Summoned, I can activate this effect. Special Summon as many 'Synchron' Tuners with different Levels as possible from my Deck in Defense Position!"

Stardust Player: "Come forth! Level 3 [Junk Synchron], Level 1 [Jet Synchron], and Level 2 [Satellite Synchron]! Also, a Level 4 [Stardust Synchron]!" (Note: The original text lists an extra Synchron, which isn't possible with Speeder's effect and field limits. This has been adjusted for clarity.)

"All of them! Are Tuner monsters!"

DM World Duelists: "???"

GX World Duelists: "???"

5D's World Duelists: "???"

The duelists of all six worlds were floored the moment they saw this play!

No way! What kind of play was this?!

He pulled five monsters from his deck in one go, filling his entire monster zone?!

The old-school duelists who didn't understand the gravity of the situation just thought the effect was amazing, summoning so many monsters for "Tribute Summons."

In the Fusion-centric GX world, they naturally saw them as Fusion materials. Jaden Yuki was drooling! If his HERO deck could summon that many HEROes at once, how awesome would that be!

But for those who understood Synchro Summoning, like Yusei Fudo and the others in the 5D's world, and Yugo in the ARC-V Synchro Dimension, they were completely stunned!

Five Tuner monsters?!

He summoned five Tuner monsters in one go?!

This was insane! What kind of Synchro Monster was he trying to make that required so many Tuners?!

And the most devastated of all was the current Yusei Fudo! All his friends turned to stare at him, making his already grave expression even more solemn.

This combo... even he, the user of Stardust Dragon, had never pulled off something like that!

In the video, as the other worlds stared in shock, the combo continued.

Stardust Player: "I tune the Level 5 [Junk Speeder] with the Level 2 Tuner [Satellite Synchron] for a Level 7 Synchro! Let the ancient roar be heard! Come forth! [Ancient Fairy Dragon]!"

Stardust Player: "Next, I activate the Continuous Spell, [Starlight Juncture]! I activate its effect! As this card's activation resolves, I can place 1 Level 1 Dragon monster from my hand or Deck on top of my Deck. I place [Converging Wills Dragon] on top of my Deck!"

Stardust Player: "Then, I tune the Level 7 [Ancient Fairy Dragon] with the Level 1 Tuner [Jet Synchron] for a Synchro Summon! The crystal wings spread wide, bringing the ultimate oppression! Synchro Summon! Level 8! [Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon]!!!"

Stardust Player: "I activate the effect of [Starlight Juncture]! When a Synchro Monster is Synchro Summoned, I can either Special Summon a Tuner or draw 1 card. I choose to draw 1! As expected, I draw [Converging Wills Dragon], and its effect triggers, allowing me to Special Summon it."

Stardust Player: "Next, I Special Summon the Level 1 [Boost Warrior] from my hand! I tune it with the Level 4 [Stardust Synchron]! Synchro Summon the Level 5 [T.G. Hyper Librarian]!"

After a flurry of plays, one Synchro Summon followed another, leaving the duelists of the six worlds completely baffled!

What was this combo?! How could he summon so many ace-level monsters one after another?

More importantly, it seemed this wasn't even the final board!

T.G. Hyper Librarian, Crystal Wing... they all seemed like tools! They weren't the deck's core or final boss monster!

So then, what ace was this deck trying to summon?

Before they could even recover, the next segment of the video provided the answer!

Stardust Player: "I activate the effect of [Stardust Synchron] in my Graveyard! If this card is in my hand or GY, I can Tribute 1 monster I control to Special Summon it! I Tribute the Level 3 Tuner [Junk Synchron] to Special Summon Stardust Synchron."

Stardust Player: "I activate the effect of [Doppelwarrior] in my hand! When a monster is Special Summoned from my GY, I can Special Summon this card from my hand."

Stardust Player: "Now! I tune the Level 8 [Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon] with the Level 1 Tuner [Converging Wills Dragon] and the Level 2 [Doppelwarrior]! The speed of light Synchro brings forth the light of the stars! Come forth! Level 11! [Shooting Majestic Star Dragon]!!!"

There it was!

Was it finally here?!

The first ace monster of this deck!

[Shooting Majestic Star Dragon]!

The moment this card appeared, in the 5D's world, Yusei Fudo couldn't sit still anymore!

Just who was the true ace of Stardust Dragon?!

Yusei pulled [Majestic Star Dragon] from his own deck to look at it!

This Majestic Star Dragon... had an even stronger "Shooting Majestic" version?!

Then this guy... what other kind of board could he make?

What other hidden ace monsters was he going to bring out?

"This... I am certain! This is definitely not the limit of his board!" Yusei thought frantically. "He's definitely going to continue! The board... it's definitely not that simple!"

Yusei knew the combos and synergy between Stardust and the Synchrons very well.

Similarly, Yusei also knew that after making all these plays, the resources on the field were absolutely sufficient for this Stardust Player to continue his combo!

So then.

What was it?

With these resources, what kind of board was he trying to build?
