Chapter 79 - The Family Antiques of Master Akira

In the staff apartment, Akira gazed at the open box on the table tiredly.

At this very moment, he thought he could fully understand the sentiments of those who gave the bribes, since he was now feeling the same.

The box on the desk was made of zitan wood, which was highly impervious to decay, termites, and moisture. The Akira family antiques, a few hundred years older than Master Akira and passed down to generation to generation and was now in his hands.

The family antiques comprised of six different objects: A Benzhi land deed, a bank card with a huge sum of money on it, a USB drive, hard drive, phone card and DVD.

The Benzhi city land deed was for the Akira Family's ancestral land and in accordance with family regulation, the land could not be sold no matter what. Legally, this was Akira's property, but given the government's anti-corruption campaign these two years and for them to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings as well as potential rumors or conspiracies to frame him, he had not gone back there during that time and he had behaved himself and lived in the staff apartment. He hadn't even dared to write down his name on the black super car his family prepared for him.

The Akira family ancestors were very mysterious; they started out as fairly normal cultivators and then suddenly gained riches beyond their control…

Akira discovered that there were no historical records to be found about how they attained their wealth…

He had only remembered that one day, his great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather had dreamt that he was on Jupiter and had seen a hundred phoenixes carrying the throne of flame. The man had remembered strings of numerical codes on the coffin, and when he had woken up, he straightaway went to go buy a lottery ticket. In the end, he had struck an unprecedented mother lode. However, after generations of squabbling around, what remained to Akira wasn't that much, but it was still enough for him to enjoy his life.

If he was being honest, the first three antiques made sense to him. It was the next two items that kept him in a state of shock for two nights and two days after he had received them.

First, the mysterious USB drive.

When Master Akira had plugged the drive into his computer, he saw a TXT file inside. The document listed thousands of permanent VIP passwords and usernames, including a VIP reader account that had ties to the Xianxia Reading Network.

In this line of accounts, the most valuable were the QQ numbers that had been passed down by the Akira family ancestors.

As for the harddrive... it had one yi wan capacity and the laser label "Foreigner Language Learning" on it. In the hard drive, there were videos... and... files... of various customs and practices from all around the world.

The phone card was the last antique Master Akira had on his desk, and the one that he felt to be the most useful.

On the other end of the phone card was the guardian of the treasured heirloom, a man who had been given an assignment by the first cultivation sage of the Akira Family. Apart from looking after the family's teachings, he was duty bound and was practically a successor to the treasured heirloom in case if they asked for his assistance during an important incident, and he was only ordered to do so four times.

This guardian had no name. Previous successors liked to call him Great Treasure Protector, but after hearing it too often it felt as if they were calling him, "piss head" which was very embarrassing. Hence, Master Akira gave this unnamed uncle a name — Black Crisis! After that, Master Akira just called him Uncle Crisis.

Previously, he had utilised Uncle Crisis's strength to find Xero for the lotta of defeating the void God.

And so, this time, he had used Uncle Crisis's powers to again investigate the Zhang Family so that he could apologise to the boy. After learning that Father Zhang was online otaku Zhang Ouyang, it was as if Master Akira had discovered a new star; and he marveled that he found a direct connection to Xero!

He felt that he completely disgraced his shifu at the end of the exchange meet. Furthermore, he was aware that Xero didn't comply or accept bribes; after all, this youth with otherworldly strength had been avoiding him all these years. And so, after putting everything into careful consideration, he had asked Uncle Crisis to use the old VIP reader account to send Father Zhang a gift. Those hundred million reading coins was thus just an apology fee paid.

Given Lord Teacher's prowess, how could a mere hundred million reading coins accomplice being his disciple!

And since it was Uncle Crisis's transaction, Master Akira didn't have to worry about the anti-corruption government agenda investigating him — one million yuan was a large sum.

Staring at the antique box, he smiled ear-to-ear, as this was just too f**king clever!

While he was in his dreamy fantasy state, his phone rang, which without a doubt had to be Uncle Crisis.

As occasion, this was the confirmation call after the deed had been done. If the mission objective wasn't achieved, Uncle Crisis would still try till he succeeded.

"Hello? Uncle... Crisis?"

On the other end of the line, the man chuckled, his voice low and magnetic. "Mm. Did... did it go smoothly?"

"Uncle Crisis! You're just too powerful! You could even find something like this!" Master Akira exclaimed with admiration. Though, he felt that Uncle Crisis's voice was tense and rushed...

Uncle Black was silent for a second, then said, "You should know the reason why your parents gave you this landline.... it wasn't for this type of use, only in case of danger.. But you... you actually took two chances to investigate the identity of the same person..."

At this point, Master Akira could hear the sudden shift in tone, but couldn't exactly tell if he was angry or not.

He knew that when Uncle Crisis investigated Xero then, he felt a sudden barrier of restriction... this was instantly pointed when he had forgotten everything about the information he had attained.

For a while, this made Uncle Crisis think he had dementia. It had later triggered him to write down the info as well as memorizing even harder.

"No matter what type of relationship you have with this person, you better keep distance! Or else I'll be carrying your corpse in a bucket... I don't want that, understand?" As he spoke, his voice seemed to be trembling.

Master Akira couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "Uh... Uncle Crisis, aren't you exaggerating?" (F**k! Shifu is that powerful?! Even Uncle Crisis trembles to his knees before him! Sure enough, he's not somebody to be messed with!)

"No, of course not!" Uncle Crisis encutianzed his words, emphasizing how serious he was. "No one in the Akira family had ever had a political position! In this game of thrones, the storm will intensify..."

"Very well, Uncle Crisis, I understand!" (Though, the storm had already formed, how can I remain calm...)

"I hope you'll think these words over. From now on, I won't investigate anything related to your family."

After saying that, he directly ended the call.

...

At that moment in a mysterious laboratory near the border of Yunzhou nation, a mysterious man dressed in a white science cloth and black, swirling, skin tight clothes, ended the call with shaky hands...

Also at that moment, Xero, who had been standing behind the mysterious man, withdrew his index finger that had a spirit bomb...
