Chapter 202: Kato Dan's Misfortune
To teach the Uchiha the dangers of serving on the front, Hiruzen placed this group under Sasuke's command.
Sasuke assured them that he would never take personal revenge or deliberately assign them high-risk missions like deflecting mines or covering the rear.
"Hokage-sama, you must believe me. Look at Shun. I hold him in very high esteem. I truly don't harbor so much animosity towards the Uchiha," Sasuke argued angrily. Hiruzen's suspicions only grew, and he began to teach him the meaning of Konoha's unified family. Finally, Sasuke reluctantly promised that as long as the Uchiha didn't cause trouble, he would never embarrass them.
As soon as Sasuke left, an ANBU with a dog mask appeared in the office. He knelt and reported: "Hokage-sama, the disappearance of Team B has been thoroughly investigated."
"Inu, who did it?"
"It was Orochimaru," the ANBU replied.
"What?!" Hiruzen stood up abruptly, stunned. He had assumed Danzo had decided to silence Team B, fearing they would discover his involvement in Nawaki's mutilation, but he didn't expect it to be Orochimaru.
"It was Dan who informed Orochimaru of this," the ANBU continued.
"It's the Spiritualization Technique!" Hiruzen realized. Damn it! he thought, and the pipe he had treasured for over a decade snapped in two. He knew that Orochimaru, by eliminating that group of ANBU, was venting his frustrations with him, his master. The fact that a father figure had participated in the murder of his own student was a profound shock to Orochimaru.
"Inu, I heard that Dan's dream is to become Hokage?" Hiruzen asked with a deep look.
"Yes, and now he's even pursuing Tsunade-sama."
"Transfer him to the Land of Rivers battlefield to fight against the Sand ninjas," Hiruzen ordered. "Also, have Danzo send a Root team to protect him. Without the protection of his body, his spiritual transformation technique is very dangerous."
Meanwhile, Sasuke had already used the Flying Thunder God to teleport to the Land of Waves.
"Boss, which village did you rob to get so many military supplies?" Kakuzu asked, excited to see Sasuke, his eyes glowing green. "I heard you have a batch of executioner's blades. Could you give us some to develop the market?"
"Kakuzu, if you want to make more money, why don't you oversee Hiruko and get the special steel from the blast furnace mass-produced as soon as possible?" Sasuke retorted. Selling the executioner's blades would be like helping the enemy.
Hearing that his valuable time was going to be wasted again, Hiruko quickly reported: "Sir, I've almost finished studying the flesh and blood of the Five-Tails. Soon I'll be able to develop a potion that allows summoning beasts to master Boil Style."
"Hiruko, haven't you developed a potion that ninjas can take?" Sasuke asked.
"Sir, your request is too high. How could a common ninja withstand the erosion of the tailed beast's chakra?"
After mediating a discussion between a frustrated Hiruko and a stingy Kakuzu, Sasuke persuaded the scientist. "Okuhiru, other departments have difficulties. As chief consultant, you must consider the overall situation. After Gato brings in more people, I'll assign you some competent assistants."
Okuhiru nodded proudly. "Alright, as long as you don't bother me daily, it's not impossible to help them."
