Marion put her hands up and assumed a fighting stance
I don't know the second thing about fighting (the first is punching according to frank) but I began to run and start storing energy.
I believe that my power grows in potency the more energy my armor absorbs, so it's using the static charge I gain from running to increase my power.
I threw put my hands, shooting two lightning surges at the girl, and she sidestepped both of them and began to run at me.
This is the kinda embarrassing part.
As she got up close she threw out a right jab that I intended to block, but her punch was way more powerful than I thought, at least double of a regular human. I got pushed back and she shook her wrist
"Ah."
Her fist had gained a slight burn mark that came from punching my outer veil of lightning.
"that's nifty" I ran in and threw two punches at her which she blocked before kicking my shin, breaking my balance, and uppercutting me, sending me across the ring
"Way to go brains!" Tammi yelled before Frank hit his shoulder.
"Have you guessed my surged ability yet?" Marion yelled to me as I got up.
"No, I haven't is it strength based?"
"close" she put her hands back in a fighting stance "I can make certain parts of my body more effective, like my brain and my muscles."
"That makes sense." It also explained why she was seen as the weakest of all of them. Compared to the others, well the ones that I knew the ability of, that surged ability is rather weak.
"Use this knowledge to your advantage, because I won't be holding back much longer"
"Alright!" Shaun said, "next one on the ground loses!"
One of the big differences between me and Marion is that she knows how to use her skill to the fullest, I just got mine and was dragged into this whole mess.
So, I put together my strengths
I'm definitely gathering power the more I run around.
She gets burn marks on her if bare skin touches me.
Her surged ability is way more limited than mine in the strength department.
Dang and she's the weakest here?!
Marion dashed forward and the stone under her feet began to crack. She ran up to me and delivered a kick to my chest that I flimsily blocked with my right hand.
She then took a step back and tried to kick me again, which I was able to block better, before throwing a punch that she sidestepped.
"she's kicking now because her hands will get burnt!" I put the pieces together.
Marion knew she couldn't be punching my veil, so she started to kick it with her more durable legs. How could I use this?
Testing what she would do, I threw two punches at her and she dodged both
Just as I thought she would.
The girl kicked me back and I almost lost my footing again. I put my foot down and dashed at her again.
Maybe if I could make that lightning bolt into more of a shotgun blast…
I charged my fist with lightning like I did for the bolt, but instead of putting my hand out, I did an underhand throwing motion, and the lightning flew out of my hand, instead of being a sort of precise bolt that would fly past her, it was a wider cluster of sparks. they flew out in such a way that the only way to dodge it would be to take a step back leaving Marion open.
Instead of doing this however, Marion decided to try and take the electricity head on.
The girl flew back but was able to keep her balance, the Jacket she had on had a small black mark on it from the burns. I kept us with this momentum of a successful hit and dashed up to her delivering two more blows.
The more she blocked, the worse the burns on her jacket got. I finished this assault by charging my leg with the lightning and delivering a strong kick to her chest.
She got blasted out the battleground and slammed into the nearby fence, slumping to the floor
"Are you okay!?" I was worried for her, but she gave me a thumbs up "yup just peachy" her face was in the floor.
"And Marion is out! Jake wins the first round!"
Soul and Tammi clapped, and Frank looked back, as if he got distracted by something, then smiled at me.
"Way to go Thunderboy!" Tammi cheered. That nickname he said was… Interesting
I walked over to Marion who was still on the ground and let out a hand to help her up "good game."
"I can get up myself" I doubted this but let her try "I underestimated you Jake, I'm glad you overdelivered" I smiled awkwardly "uh you're welcome?"
We walked, well Marion limped, back to the benches where the other 3 were waiting for us.
"Nice job to both of you" Soul said, "I mean, Jake could still use some work, but you learn quick!"
Tammi sighed "guess it's our turn now man"
"I guess your right" Soul got up and stretched his back "I'll give you 5 minutes."
What was that supposed to mean?
Tammi nodded and they went to the training box. Shaun seemed to have stepped back a little.
"you boys ready?"
Tammi unsheathed his sword, a sharp steel blade shined with the afternoon light. Wow, it was only the afternoon.
So much has happened today.
It was certainly interesting I'll give it that. Is this my life now? Do I really want this? I just threw hands with a girl I just met and had some fun doing it.
Is that a bad sign?
Frank tapped me on the shoulder
"5 bucks says Tammi can't get a single hit in" he whispered
I grinned "I'll take that bet!"
Frank snickered "you haven't seen soul in action yet have you?"
"Alright!" Shaun finally said "you guys know the rules! Just don't hit the spectators" he looked down at himself. "Or the ref."
The two nodded and Soul summoned an all-black knife from nothingness, it seemed to be made of darkness but still looked as sharp as a steel blade.
He suddenly gained a cape that was also all black and glistened in the light.
"Alright? Go!"
Shaun ran back from the ring and Soul fell through a portal that was summoned under him
"So, Soul's ability is teleportation and creating weapons out of darkness. What's Tammi's?"
The rather large man just stood in his spot, his eyes closed as if trying to sense something, or someone.
Frank smiled "it's pretty simple"
Tammi then suddenly turned to the left and Soul popped out of seemingly nowhere. Tammi deflected the strike and Soul retreated before he could follow up.
"Tammi can Sense when he is about to get struck by something dangerous."
