Kyra’s POV
Nathan’s painful betrayal drove me to rage.
The scent of burnt toast and freshly brewed coffee filled the kitchen as I stormed in, my bare feet slapping against the cold marble tiles. Sylvia, howled in my mind, her claws raking against my consciousness as the image of Nathan and Sophia burned behind my eyelids.
"We should tear her throat out!" Sylvia snarled, her voice thick with the promise of violence. "She's dancing on our territory!"
I ignored her, my trembling hands open the liquor cabinet
I need to numb myself. It’s so painful I couldn’t endure it. I need to at least forget what I saw by drawing my attention to something.
I found alcohol. I quickly opened it but Kieran suddenly snatched the bottle from me and replaced it with a glass of milk.
I looked at him angrily. “Give that back!”
He clenched his jaws. “No.”
“Give that back, Kieran!”
