Once in the house, Fenris tried to find a way to explain everything to Axel clearly, but Axel spoke first. "Where had you gone? You made us drag ourselves to your maniac brother, thinking that he dragged you there, and turns out you weren't even there?!"
He scolded.
His voice sharp with irritation that came from genuine worry and confusion more than anything else. "We left Jeremy there even with the fact that he had risked going there to look for you!" he added, each word landing like a strike that Fenris could feel sinking into him because of how painfully true they were.
Fenris couldn't help but feel bad no matter how much he didn't want to, no matter how much he tried to hold onto the cold detachment that usually kept him steady.
Two people in the whole world had shown loyalty to him.. actual loyalty, and what had he given back? Betrayal, pain, failure.
