Chapter 56 - 56: Marowak's spirit

The Lavender town lived up to its reputation, especially at night. The houses along the streets had their doors tightly shut, with no light escaping and there was not a single person outside, making it feel like an empty town.

The black night sky was swept by a cold breeze, enough to terrify even the bravest of souls. After walking for a while, Ash finally found the location of the Pokémon Center.

The Pokémon Center was the only building in the town with any light. Seeing this, Ash felt there were still people in the town. He entered the Pokémon Center, where only Nurse Joy was present. He found no one else.

Ash approached Joy and said a few words before staying there for the night. Of course, it was just staying there. Because of Ash's title as "Nurse Joy's master," Nurse Joy stayed with Ash all night.

The Nurse Joy was a virgin and the red stain on the sheets made that night more exciting…

In the morning, after enjoying Nurse Joy's morning, Ash packed his belongings and left the Pokémon Center, heading to town to inquire about the Pokémon Tower.

After asking around, Ash heard from a little girl that the town mayor had been missing for many days and no one knew if he was dead or alive. Upon hearing this, Ash furrowed his brows; this matter didn't seem so simple after all.

'Ding! Additional Task: Team Rocket's Downfall Part 1. Stop Team Rocket's plan, liberate the restless souls in the Pokémon Tower and rescue the mayor. No slave points reward, full body enhancement +1, Pokémon main attribute enhancement +1, level up +3.'

"It's Team Rocket after all," Ash knew immediately who was behind this after hearing the task.

Ash didn't ask any questions and walked straight into the Pokémon Tower. During the day, the first floor of the Pokémon Tower was brightly lit, with many people from other cities registering at the front desk.

There were many dead Pokémon nearby. Ash pushed through the crowd and headed toward the second floor. The second floor wasn't as bright as the first floor and was even a bit dark. The second floor had no lights, but instead had many Pokémon gravestones standing there. Ash didn't pay attention to these and continued toward the third floor.

The third floor was even darker than the second floor and had a slight chill. Ash frowned and released Charmander, letting its flames illuminate the area. "Click, click," a sound rang out on the third floor.

Ash had Charmander shine its flame in that direction. When Ash saw what was there, he was stunned. A group of Pokémon corpses emerged from the tombstones.

While Ash was still in shock, his left eye automatically activated its ability and a string of information was transmitted to his mind: "Corpses controlled by Gastly. Charmander's flame can break the control." Gastly?!

After hearing this information, Ash looked at the corpses. Behind each corpse was a heavy mist and within the mist was a face, smiling constantly. Knowing they were controlled corpses, Ash was no longer afraid.

He immediately commanded Charmander, "Charmander, use Flamethrower on those corpses." "Charmander."

The Charmander's flames hit the corpses and they immediately collapsed. The Ghosts were all scared away.

After dealing with all the corpses, Ash continued toward the next level. There were many Ghosts on the fourth & fifth floor and above, but Ash dealt with them all using the same technique.

Continuing on, Ash reached the sixth floor. The tower had a total of seven floors, with the next floor being the top. This floor was much brighter than the others, so there was no need for Charmander to provide light.

The sixth floor was completely empty, eerily quiet, giving Ash an uncomfortable feeling. However, Ash didn't dwell on it and continued toward the seventh level. Just as he was about to step out of the sixth level, the entire floor suddenly went dark. A sound like someone crying echoed and then Ash felt a heavy object strike his chest, sending him flying backward and crashing into a Pokémon tombstone.

"Ugh." Ash screamed as a trickle of blood flowed from his chest. If his body hadn't been strengthened, that blow would have broken his bones. However, aside from some internal injuries, he was overall fine.

Ash activated his left eye and a string of information appeared: "Marowak's spirit, carrying heavy resentment, level 30, can be defeated, cannot be captured, no special abilities, type: Ghost + Ground."

As soon as Ash received the data, a shadow of a Pokémon emerged from the black mist. Marowak's eyes were filled with intense resentment and a murderous aura as it stared at Ash.

Ash felt a chill run down his spine, but he shook his head, refusing to let fear overcome him. He reached into his bag and released all his Pokémon.

"Ivysaur, Leaf Blade! Charmander, Flamethrower! Rattata, Bite! Pidgeot, Whirlwind! Miltank, Ice Beam!" Ash already knew what moves Miltank could use and issued the commands directly.

Ash wasn't going to do 1v1 battles "Shit, the one in front of you wants your life. Who would fight him one-on-one? That'd be so stupid!" All the Pokémon unleashed their moves at once.

The Marowak immediately threw its bone, creating a bone boomerang. A single bone boomerang blocked Ivysaur's Leaf Blade and Charmander's Flamethrower, then dodged Miltank's Ice Beam.

However, just as it was about to dodge Rattata's bite, Pidgeot's Whirlwind hit its back. Marowak screamed in pain and by the time it reacted, Rattata's bite had already struck it.

Marowak screamed again, its anger burning even brighter than before, its killing intent even heavier. Ash watched on, of course continuing to encourage his Pokémon to attack while searching for a suitable weapon himself.

After searching for a while, he found a whip, this was none other than that Black Whip he received as reward. "Damn it, it'll have to do." Ash looked at the whip, his left eye twitching slightly, then clenched his teeth and struck Marowak with the whip when it wasn't paying attention.

The whip struck Marowak's body, causing it to scream in pain and collapse to the ground. "Damn it, it actually works and it's incredibly effective!" After seeing this, Ash immediately stepped up his efforts and, together with his Pokémon, defeated Marowak.

After Ash was exhausted, Marowak suddenly flew into the air, the black mist disappeared and Marowak went to heaven... If Marowak hadn't went to heaven, it would have gone to hell…
