Chapter 77 - BAREFOOT

"Daniel, you really like bright colours, don't you?" Aveline's eyes lit up as she watched Daniel work on his colouring book.

They were both seated barefoot on the floor of the kitchen ground, with the painting books placed in their middle.

"They're so cool. Look Aveline, it's the sea!"

Aveline's smile broadened on seeing the painting the six year old had made.

"It's stunning!"

"Like you."

Aveline held her chest, threw her head back and laughed heartily.

"Oh Daniel, I don't know where you learnt how to talk like that." Joanne, who was cleaning the kitchen, shook her head.

"He's so cool. He's the coolest child ever!"

"You encourage him, Mrs Aveline."

"Please Joanne, it's just Aveline. You make me sound ridiculously old."

"It's true mummy. Maybe she can't pronounce just Aveline," he whispered conspiratorially to Aveline.

Aveline nodded in agreement. "You're definitely right. That's why you're super smart." She gave him a thumbs up.
