Atlas eyes raked through the expression of shock in her face.
He allowed the shock fester a few seconds before pulling her out of her misery.
"Don't worry, it's mostly for work."
"Huh?" She blinked multiple times.
"Yeah, I have work to do on this island. But I was thinking for the optics of it, we could seize the opportunity and make it our honeymoon destination. I'll be off for work most of the time, so you can explore the island as much as you like. Sounds like something you don't mind doing?"
Aveline's ears twitched in disbelief. Atlas was asking for her opinion.
At the beginning, he made it seem like it was his way or the highway.
The fact he wanted to hear her opinion felt very much unreal.
"I mean it's like you've said, for the optics right?"
He nodded. "If we're going to commit to the bit, we have to do it completely."
"I agree. So I guess I'm going to an island." She giggled.
Caught off guard by her reaction, Atlas stared through hooded eyes.
