Atlas managed to put on his game face for the event.
His goals and ambitions were on the line now.
Whilst lusting after Aveline was torturous fun, that had to take a back seat for what was most important.
So when he held her hands, he didn't listen to his rapid breath that broke through at the softness of her palms. Or how she stiffened at his touch.
None of that mattered. Not tonight. His goals were on the line.
"Are you ready?" He asked, on their way to the entrance door.
"I am," she replied.
"Remember the rules? We're in public."
"I know. What do I call you?"
His lips stretched into a half smile. "Babe," he mimicked her from earlier.
Aveline flushed in embarrassment, just as they stepped into the ballroom.
The conversions ceased as soon as the couple walked in.
Everyone's eyes trailed towards them. They had heard of Atlas marriage alright, but most still thought it was just a hoax.
Seeing them together now in person, turned them into believers.
