Aveline watched Atlas leave after some woman took control of the mic, to make an announcement for the entertainment that was to begin.
She couldn't stop looking at him, even after he disappeared through a door.
She felt like she had not done enough to stop him from making a decision that he was bound to regret.
"You look worried. Are you okay?"
Startled, Aveline turned to see Mirabel behind her.
Her hand flew to her chest. "I'm sorry. You just crept up on me."
Mirabel's eyes widened in instant regret. "I'm so sorry about that. I saw you standing alone, and seeing our husbands have gone in to do their business thing, I thought to come keep you company."
"That's awfully nice of you. Thank you," she said sincerely.
Mirabel gave her an accepting smile. "So Aveline, how have you found Solmare so far?"
"Oh we arrived a little past midnight. I haven't had the opportunity yet to go round. But judging from the villa we're staying in, I can already tell Solmare is simply magical."
