"Over here!" Aveline raised her voice so Mariah could hear her.
Atlas' head snapped towards her. "What do you think you're doing?" he asked, bewildered.
Returning his stare head-on, she shrugged.
The small door that led into the fountain area swung open, and Mariah walked in.
She stopped dead in her tracks, the smile fading off her face when she saw both Atlas and Aveline were present in the fountain.
"I'm glad you're here," Aveline wasted no time in starting. "Thank you so much for your kindness," she said in a sarcastic tone.
"My– my kindness?" she stuttered, looking from Atlas to Aveline.
"Yeah. You were instrumental in picking out a dress for the party. I'm grateful for that–" she paused a while, and then continued. "Also for spending last night with him. Looking at his eyes, you sure did wear him out. And here I was thinking he was actually tired from work."
"What the fuck are you doing, Aveline?" Atlas blew hot, just after the words left her mouth.
