"And when I followed mum to the grocery store, I made a friend called Ariana. We collected our game id's so we can play with each other."
Daniel was in his hundredth tell-all since Aveline walked into her room, and began to sort out her luggage.
Despite how overwhelmed Aveline was, she was determined to engage him for as long as she could.
"Ariana huh? A pretty name."
"She's very pretty too," he enthusiastically added.
Aveline laughed. "That's good to know. How does it feel making a friend?"
"The best! Daddy did not want me making any friends with the neighbours kids. He said they were bad people that would poison me. Is that true Aveline?"
Aveline dropped the shirt she was holding, and sat down next to him.
"What an ass your father was," she thought as she looked at the boy who looked at her with waiting eyes.
She cleared her throat, hoping whatever answer she gave was a good one.
