Chapter 119 - RESTLESS TORTURE

"Where did you even get that from?" Atlas asked, filling up the silence.

"I worked for a while at a drugstore once. They handed the first aid box to every employee," she replied, as she switched to his other hand, inspecting carefully for any damage or breakage.

"Why didn't you tell me my mother sent the hooligans that kidnapped you?"

She paused in motion, and slowly lifted her head to face him. "You wouldn't have believed me."

"No, that's not the reason. You didn't want to cause a rift between me and my mother, because everyone tells you how obsessed I am with not hurting her, right?"

Aveline shook her head. "No one needs to tell me. I've seen how protective you are of her despite her flaws. That's love right? I can't fault that."

She returned her gaze back to his hand, but his free hand covered hers to stop them from moving.

"You're too good even to your own detriment," he said in a voice filled with wonder.

"Then how should I be instead?" She asked, looking at him again.
