Aveline had not been in her room for a while, but now that she was in it, she breathed easily.
There was no woody, earthy scent reminding her of the betrayer. Here, she could think much clearer.
And God knew she needed to think carefully about her next actions.
Her phone rang in the process of her taking off her shoes.
She looked to the side where her phone laid, and her eyes caught the screen.
"Shit," she muttered under her breath as she answered the call.
"Hey Seth."
"Hey Ave, you good?"
"Is there something in my voice that is making everyone ask that?"
"No, you just sound pissed."
She rolled her eyes. "What do you want, Seth?"
"Are you still going to pineapple street tomorrow? Your boy intervened, but Sloan still doesn't want to leave. I think you're the only one that can convince her."
"I said I was, didn't I?"
She took off the other heel, and relief washed through her instantly.
"I know. Just wanted to confirm. You good though? Anything bothering you?"
