Chapter 47 - Ch: Character Summary for This Arc

Nine years until the beginning of the Great Pirate Era.

Affiliation: Jorge's Family, now the Witch's Crew

• Kanata

The story's protagonist. 16 years old. Logia-type Ice-Ice Fruit ice human.

"Dragon-Slaying Witch" Bounty: 1,200,000,000 Berries. ONLY ALIVE.

Captain and Navigator.

A beautiful girl with black hair and red eyes. By cooperating with Dragon and Kuro, managed to KO Sengoku. One-on-one, she still can't quite win.

Possesses two Log Poses each (including spares) for the first and second halves of the Grand Line.

Also possesses Eternal Poses for the "Providence Kingdom," "Hachinosu," "Dressrosa," and "Drum Kingdom."

Main weapon is a spear crafted from shaving down a Sea King's fang.

Can use all three types of Haki—Conqueror's, Armament, and Observation—at high levels.

Her Haki proficiency has increased, and when extremely concentrated, it changes to a blue-purple color.

While aiming to conquer the Grand Line, currently traveled between Drum Kingdom and Kamabakka Kingdom for Scura's medical studies.

After being discovered by the Navy, left Drum and is currently staying at Kamabakka Kingdom.

Just from going back and forth between Drum and Kamabakka, Tiger, Dragon, and Ivankov became her crew members.

During the decisive battle with the Navy, fought against Sengoku.

Using her ability and Haki, she inflicted considerable wounds, but when Feiyun was taken down, Zen was also defeated in a chain reaction, bringing them to the brink of collapse.

With help from Tiger and Dragon, she recovered and cooperated with Kuro and Dragon to defeat Sengoku.

After making Zephyr retreat, she collapsed and became bedridden, but Scura told her "eat and sleep and you'll heal" and left her alone. Though wrapped in bandages, possibly due to her high recovery ability, she healed much faster than the other wounded.

Her real name is "Novem."

A descendant of a clan that once existed in a certain kingdom. Her role will eventually be inherited from Octavia.

• Junxi

A man characterized by red hair and a muscular physique. 29 years old.

"Six Harmonies Great Spear" Bounty: 300,000,000 Berries.

Combatant.

Can use Armament and Observation Haki.

Had nothing particular to do on Drum Island and was bored, but at Kamabakka Kingdom, learned he could make his body stronger and enthusiastically trained himself.

Apparently fought with practitioners of Newkama Kenpo to refine his techniques.

In the Drum Island battle, fought Zephyr and focused on stalling until Kanata returned.

After that, mowed down headquarters commanders, but continued fighting Belk who appeared midway until the end.

• Kuro

A young man with black hair, black eyes, and tattoos covering his brown skin. 23 years old.

Logia-type Dark-Dark Fruit darkness human.

(Supposedly) (Self-proclaimed) Combatant.

Spoke without any fear even with okama. As always, not particularly strong himself.

Whether due to his ability's characteristics or his own constitution, strong against pain.

Had become friends with the okama at Kamabakka Kingdom.

During the Navy battle, used his ability to swallow and neutralize multiple opponents. Ultimately served as a trump card, cooperating with Kanata and Dragon to successfully defeat Sengoku.

• Jorge

A man about two meters tall with black hair and black eyes. 31 years old.

Treasurer.

Combat ability is decent—can fight on par with headquarters commanders. However, can't use Haki, so disadvantaged against Logia types.

In direct strength, can't compare to Kanata and others, but excelled in a supporting role by using his head to arrange situations and create opportunities for reversal.

Almost fainted when Scura paid all their money to learn medicine from Kureha. His head hurt when Kanata easily approved it, but acknowledging it was necessary, ultimately offered all their money.

Since he incidentally remained under Kureha as labor, learned a bit about medicine.

While specialized illnesses and injuries are beyond him, he can now handle simple first aid and knows types of medicine, so can help the ship doctor.

• Scotch

A chubby man with blonde hair and blue eyes. Wears sunglasses. 31 years old.

Navigator.

Strong in honor and humanity, so when Tiger fought Zephyr, shouted "don't let only our guests fight!" and stepped forward himself.

Loves women and thought he'd search for snow country beauties but ended up stuck in okama-filled Kamabakka Kingdom and despaired. Hell on earth.

Often clashes with the okama, but since their strength is remarkable, reluctantly has them as training partners. Stress-eating made him gain a bit more weight.

Can fight decently with headquarters commanders, but Admirals were obviously impossible.

After Kanata defeated Sengoku and drove off the warships, brought alcohol from the hold and got drunk celebrating the victory, but was thoroughly scolded for not operating as solo navigator while Kanata was immobile from battle fatigue.

Banned from drinking for a while, and had to wear a board around his neck saying "I'm a fool who broke the rules."

• Feiyun

Giant race. A woman characterized by long pale purple hair and amethyst-like purple eyes. 39 years old.

Paramecia-type Size-Size Fruit enlargement human. Maximum total length: 173 meters.

"Giant Shadow" Bounty: 230,000,000 Berries.

Combatant.

Can use Armament and Observation Haki. Since she could naturally use Observation Haki from birth, excels at reading others' emotions.

Was bored on Drum Kingdom, so immediately disembarked and played by making large snowmen nearby.

At Kamabakka Kingdom, practiced techniques learned from Dorry and Broggy repeatedly and trained in Haki. Meanwhile, apparently tickled the okama's maternal instincts and was often looked after.

She herself apparently had no particular awareness of this.

During the Navy battle, fought against the giant Marine vice admirals Saul and Lonz.

Due to differences in fundamental ability and combat experience, was defeated once but temporarily revived with Ivankov's ability and fought.

Since they retreated immediately after, didn't suffer major injuries, but was bedridden for a while due to Emporio Tension Hormone's effects.

Still being diligently cared for by the okama as always.

• Zen

A black chestnut horse (?) Mink Tribe member. 38 years old.

"Red Mane" Bounty: 330,000,000 Berries.

Combatant.

His actual coat color is black chestnut, but nicknamed "Red Mane" because his coat turns red when in Sulong form.

With Electro and his own outstanding martial prowess, one of the few crew members who can properly fight Zephyr.

During the Navy battle, also fought Zephyr, but was KO'd after wavering from Feiyun's defeat, driving Kanata into a crisis.

Afterward somehow revived and cornered Zephyr by using Sulong.

Like Feiyun, became bedridden for a while after using Sulong with a battered body, but he ended up being nursed while scolded by Scura.

While there were opponents they couldn't handle without some recklessness, the fact that he caused worry remained, so he apologized profusely.

Thinking he must train more at Kamabakka Kingdom.

• Samuel

A muscular giant of a man about three meters tall. Shaved head. 28 years old.

Zoan-type Cat-Cat Fruit Model "Jaguar" ability user.

Combatant.

Can only use Armament Haki. However, still only handles it at a basic level, so depends on future training.

The exotic animal slot on Kanata's ship.

Remained at Drum Kingdom as Scura and Jorge's escort.

Often asked to do heavy labor by Kureha and used freely. He himself didn't seem particularly dissatisfied.

In the Navy battle, fought the two vice admirals Saul and Lonz.

Even utilizing his ability, the size difference meant no decisive blow, and he could only inflict minor wounds, which apparently frustrated him greatly.

Since he had relatively few injuries on the ship, operated the helm when heading to Kamabakka Kingdom after the Navy retreated.

Got a bit lost because Scotch gave instructions while dead drunk.

At Kamabakka Kingdom, was taken aback by the large number of okama led by Ivankov, but was fired up to train for a while while eating "Attack Cuisine."

• Scura

A man with shaggy white hair, about two meters tall, thin build, and bad-eyed handsome features. 25 years old.

Ship Doctor.

Recently began thinking he might be able to use Observation Haki for medical examinations.

Since he could study medicine at his long-desired Drum Island, enthusiastically became Kureha's disciple.

Though Kureha found him troublesome, she acknowledged his attitude.

Having various diseases and cases drilled into him, he's pleased that despite the short period, it was fruitful study.

Though forced to end it partway when the Navy sniffed them out, he's grateful to Kureha who taught him more than enough.

Since his combat ability is virtually nonexistent, during the Navy battle hid inside the ship treating wounded.

At Kamabakka Kingdom, was busy nursing the seriously injured Zen and Feiyun. Kanata also couldn't move but after treatment, he left her alone saying eating and sleeping would heal her.

Nursed Zen while scolding him for the reckless fighting method of Sulong, but understood the circumstances that it was also a crisis of total annihilation without it.

Still, as a doctor, he had no choice but to say "don't be reckless."

• David

A sea urchin man with spiky hair. Height about 180cm. 34 years old.

Paramecia-type Bomb-Bomb Fruit bomb human.

"Bombardier" Bounty: 70,000,000 Berries.

Still can't use Haki.

At Kamabakka Kingdom, trained in Haki while having Junxi accompany him, but wasn't going very well.

Still, training itself wasn't wasted, and his explosion power improved somewhat.

However, completely ineffective against Sengoku and was KO'd in one punch.

Afterward woken up by Jorge, and from the characteristic that his breath becomes bombs, formed shells by the special method of "loading breath into cannons." Using this, succeeded in sinking two warships.

Normal shells would be dealt with, but these are invisible so difficult to handle, and shells easily land on ships.

Eventually thought up a technique of treating himself as a shell, being fired from a cannon, and self-destructing to deal massive damage.

Since he self-destructs at maximum output without considering the aftermath, there's danger of involving surroundings, but he himself is unharmed by explosions due to the Bomb-Bomb Fruit's characteristics.

With this, succeeded in blowing away the two giant vice admirals.

However, didn't manage to defeat them, so turned to buying time.

• Fisher Tiger

Canon character. Tai fishman. Has a giant body exceeding five meters. 27 years old.

Left Fishman Island as a young adventurer visiting various islands, but his ship was wrecked in a storm and he happened to discover Kanata's ship. Had them tow him to Drum Island.

Couldn't repair the ship, and swimming back to Fishman Island wasn't realistic either, so when at a loss, met Kanata again and was allowed aboard.

Since there was no immediate reason to return, decided to aim for Fishman Island while adventuring with Kanata's crew.

Knows Kanata's crew are wanted, and understands there aren't many options in seas where fishman discrimination remains even if targeted by the Navy.

Somewhat relieved that there are also non-ordinary human races like Zen and Feiyun.

During the Navy battle, stood against Sengoku as a member of this ship.

Afterward fought headquarters commanders, but the moment he learned Zen was taken down and Kanata was in danger, rushed out with Dragon to provide rescue.

Though he didn't suffer major injuries, it was an extremely tough fight, so he says "never want to do that again."

• Dragon

Canon character. A man with a physique exceeding two meters. 22 years old.

Was traveling various places to broaden his perspective when he coincidentally met Kanata, and after several questions, joined Kanata's ship.

From the two points of no ship doctor and having comrades staying at Drum, gave Kanata's crew near Drum waters the option to "temporarily board a different doctor."

Recruited Ivankov as ship doctor at Kamabakka Kingdom. By boarding him (her), options greatly increased.

During the Navy battle, fought alongside Ivankov, but when Zen was taken down, judged Kanata had fallen into crisis and headed to rescue with Tiger.

Ultimately succeeded in defeating Sengoku by cooperating with both Kanata and Kuro.

Apparently still occasionally keeps in touch with Garp.

• Emporio Ivankov

Canon character. A Newkama with flashy makeup and physique second only to Tiger. 20 years old.

Queen of Kamabakka Kingdom (permanently retired number).

Paramecia-type Horm-Horm Fruit hormone freedom human.

A human modification engineer who manipulates human hormones like gender, body temperature, pigmentation, growth, and tension.

Temporarily boarded Kanata's ship as doctor through Dragon's introduction. Boasts the highest tension level on Kanata's ship.

Has mastered Newkama Kenpo and has first-class combat ability.

Handles headquarters commanders and lieutenant commanders easily, but when fighting two giant vice admirals as Feiyun's rescue, couldn't match them and couldn't find a breakthrough.

Fine plays like reviving Feiyun using the opening created by David's self-destructive charge were also notable.

Personally apparently wants Kanata to do proper makeup.

When Kanata was forced to do full makeup once, it apparently crushed the confidence of Kamabakka Kingdom's Newkama.

Affiliation: Navy

• Belk

A handsome man with silver hair, blue eyes, and glasses. 22 years old.

Navy Headquarters Commander. Garp's disciple and also subordinate.

His ability as a swordsman apparently doesn't differ much from vice admirals, and had a more than equal fight against Junxi who didn't back down even against an Admiral.

Can use Armament and Observation Haki at high levels.

Since he's sharp and has high analytical ability, saw through that Kanata's crew occasionally appeared at Drum.

Apparently has a beautiful girlfriend in his hometown, but somehow her voice resembles Kanata's.

• Zephyr

Canon character. A giant man with purple eyes and hair. 41 years old.

Navy Headquarters Admiral. Bears the epithet "Black Arm."

A Haki user worthy of that name, and when fighting the Witch's crew, faced Zen.

Sank Zen with one blow after an opening appeared from Feiyun being taken down, and once cornered Kanata together with Sengoku, but rescue arrived and the situation reversed.

Fought more than equally with Zen in Sulong state and was gradually breaking him down when Sengoku was defeated, deciding to retreat.

Forced into short-term hospitalization due to severe burns on both arms, feeling awkward being worried about by his wife and child.

Plans to head to Water Seven with warships to face the Golden Lion immediately upon return to duty.

• Sengoku

Canon character. A man wearing glasses characterized by afro hair. 46 years old.

Navy Headquarters Vice Admiral. "The Buddha" Sengoku.

Zoan-type Mythical Beast Human-Human Fruit Model "Buddha" ability user.

Same generation as Garp and Zephyr. Ability-wise doesn't differ greatly from Garp and others.

A person who doesn't have good things happen when Kanata gets involved, like having the Celestial Dragon he was escorting killed or being dropped into the sea when trying to capture her.

Though enthusiastic to definitely capture her together with Zephyr, was defeated before completely breaking Kanata due to Dragon's rescue and cooperation with Kuro overlapping.

From Kanata's atmosphere and the abnormality of multiple people who can fight an Admiral despite being a small pirate crew, was reminded of Rocks.

• Garp

Canon character. A man characterized by short cropped hair and a beard grown around his mouth. 45 years old.

Navy Headquarters Vice Admiral. "Fist" Garp, or "Hero of the Marines."

Showed a rare surprised face when hearing that Sengoku and Zephyr together couldn't capture them, and Sengoku even came back with major injuries.

While confirming photos scheduled to be issued as new bounties for the Witch's crew, found Dragon's face and was making a strange expression when summoned by Fleet Admiral Kong. When questioned in the admiral's room, with no intention of hiding it, said "that's my child," whereupon Fleet Admiral Kong held his head and canceled the bounty poster creation.

Judged that Garp's son as a Marine hero, being on the ship of the woman who killed a Celestial Dragon of all things, had far too much influence.

Was scolded by Fleet Admiral Kong to "properly educate your child!"

Ended up searching for Kanata as Donquixote Homing's escort.

Plans to also question Dragon about why he became a pirate.

Affiliation: Former Rocks Pirates

• Octavia

A woman with lustrous black hair, jade-green eyes, always wearing a golden skull mask.

Logia-type Rumble-Rumble Fruit lightning human.

"The Echo" Octavia. Bounty: 3,500,000,000 Berries.

In the Rocks Pirates that once ravaged the seas, the one woman Rocks entrusted his back to. Boasts ability to take on two Navy Admirals, the highest combat force, and kill them.

Left-handed, but currently her left arm doesn't move due to aftereffects from battle with Admirals.

Appeared repeatedly at history's turning points while lending hands to or opposing the "D Clan." Every generation was a formidable force not to be taken lightly, called the "Dark Moon" clan.

Existed as a sword to protect those who weave history, and that will has been inherited from mother to daughter across many generations.

For when "something" is revived.

For the world's dawn—continuing to wait for the time of daybreak.

Affiliation: None

• Director

Name unknown. Octavia's father and Kanata's (Novem's) grandfather.

Paramecia-type Straw-Straw Fruit straw human. Awakened ability user.

Transforms body into straw. Possesses abilities like owning others' lives as stock and being able to use them as substitutes for himself.

Since awakened, ability range dramatically expanded, gaining abilities like transforming things besides himself into straw, or controlling by covering with straw.

Since Octavia killed her mother for the "succession," used the rest of his life for revenge.

Prepared various means, enthusiastic to kill her by trying all methods no matter how many times Octavia killed him, but since all prepared life stock was destroyed in one blow, was defeated helplessly.

Burned by falling thunder and died.

——Was once a youth filled with compassion who loved his wife and daughter.

His wife, saying it was that clan's destiny, strictly raised their daughter, drilling in all techniques, martial arts, everything.

He became a kind father hoping she'd at least know parental love, but everything collapsed on the suddenly arriving "succession" day.

"It wasn't my era," she said.

"Can only wait for the next era," she laughed.

Having her inherit everything and be pierced by that blade, the father's love transformed into hatred.

What he'd thought would become a killing match if they met again was judged by Kanata as "fearing her parents."
