Chapter 57 - chapter 57: Silent distance

(Kang Group)

A month had passed.

Taewon had buried himself in work, his presence now entirely different from before.

The employees who once worked freely around him, careless and unafraid, now avoided even meeting his eyes.

It wasn't because he yelled or punished them but the sharpness of his aura, the cold face, and the heavy Enigma pressure he carried were enough to silence the entire floor.

The Kang Group had risen higher than ever. The contract with the Han Group had ended completely.

(Inside his office)

Taewon typed steadily when a knock came.

"Come in," he said.

Jisso stepped inside, bowing lightly.

"Sir, Mrs. Kang just called. She asked you to come to the hospital once you finish here. Miss Taemi gave birth to an Omega baby girl."

Taewon gave a short nod.

"Yes"

But Jisso remained standing. He finally lifted his gaze from the screen.

"Anything else?"

She hesitated, then spoke.

"Actually… sir, I need my salary in advance."

He studied her face for a moment, then answered evenly.

"Fine. Ask Jisung, he'll give it to you."

Her face lit up with relief.

"Thank you, sir."

She was about to leave when Taewon's voice stopped her.

"Miss Jisso, why do you need it early?"

Her cheeks flushed slightly.

"Actually my engagement ceremony is this weekend."

Taewon simply nodded.

" i see, congratulations "

"Thank you,sir"

After she left, Taewon immediately called Jisung.

"Secretary Jisso will come for her salary. Give her that and add a bonus."

"Yes, sir."

He ended the call, stood, and reached for his coat.

Just as he exited his office, a young Omega girl bumped into his chest and stumbled to the floor.

"I–I'm sorry, sir! I wasn't looking"

she stammered, looking up nervously.

Without glancing at her, Taewon asked flatly,

"Your name?"

She froze. Before she could answer, Jisso came rushing over.

"Apologies, sir! She's new.

Minji, get up and bow properly!"

The girl scrambled up, bowing repeatedly.

"I'm sorry, sir I'll be careful."

(At that moment)

Harin walked by. She stopped and narrowed her eyes.

"What's going on?"

Mina flinched.

"Miss Harin, I… I was just pacing too fast.

I accidentally bumped into the CEO."

Her voice shook.

Taewon said coolly,

"It's fine. Go back."

Jisso quickly took Minji's hand and hurried her away.

Harin turned to Taewon.

"You're going to the hospital?"

He gave a short nod.

"I'll finish the meetings here and come by in the evening," she said smoothly.

Another nod, and Taewon walked away.

(Los Angeles Han condo)

Jihyun sat lazily on the couch, playing games with his headphones on.

The door opened. Mr. Han stepped in, walked over, and pulled the headphones off Jihyun's head.

"Dad!" Jihyun startled, trembling slightly. "What's wrong?"

Mr. Han frowned.

"Didn't I tell you to come to the office today? Why are you wasting time like this?"

Jihyun pouted.

"Because it's boring. Yesterday that manager what's his name… uh… Mig, Make?"

Mr. Han corrected him firmly.

"Mikhael."

"Yeah, him," Jihyun said, shrugging.

"He teaches me things I don't even understand. What's the point?"

Mr. Han's expression hardened.

"okay then, I'll hold the rest of the work this week, and we're flying back to Korea."

Jihyun groaned, slumping in the chair.

"I don't wanna go. It's fun here."

"Not fun. A waste of time," his father snapped.

"All day you play games, go out, and spend nights in clubs. The same useless pattern. Just because I don't scold you doesn't mean I don't care. If this continues, I'll drag you back to Korea and keep you there."

Jihyun muttered under his breath.

"Okay, Dad. I get it. Now let me play"

"Not play," Mr. Han cut him off.

"Get up and eat dinner first."

"Got it ,dad don't shout "

(Hospital Korea)

Taewon sat quietly.

Mrs. Kang and Sunghoon were helping Taemi sit up in bed, while Harin entered with a smile.

Mrs. Kang carefully carried the newborn baby girl toward Taewon.

He looked up, puzzled.

"Mom?"

"Hold her," she said softly.

He hesitated, but she placed the bundle into his arms.

The tiny Omega girl lay still in his hands, fragile and warm.

Harin leaned over, touching the baby's cheek.

"Taewon," Mrs. Kang said gently,

"Taemi and Sunghoon want you to give her a name."

He glanced at his sister, unsure.

Taemi nodded firmly.

Before he could answer, Harin jumped in.

"I'll give her a name! Something like a K-pop idol"

"Yah, Harin! Be quiet,"

Taemi scolded.

"I asked my baby brother, not you."

Harin rolled her eyes.

"Fine. I didn't want to anyway."

Taewon lowered his gaze to the baby again. After a long pause, he spoke.

"Kim Haeun."

Mrs. Kang smiled warmly.

Taemi tilted her head.

"What does it mean?"

"It comes from both your names,"

Taewon explained quietly.

"And it means, God's gift. Cute and precious."

Laughter broke out, filling the room with warmth.

Taewon, however, only kept staring at the soft face of little Haeun, silent and still.
