Chapter 84 - chapter 84: our first date

The buzzing of his phone woke Jihyun from sleep.

Eyes half-shut, he reached for it, answering without looking.

"Jihyun? Are you okay?"

His psychologist's voice came through.

"I'm fine. Doing well,"

Jihyun replied, sitting up.

"You didn't contact me for the last two days. I kept calling."

"I think I'm feeling much better now."

"That's good to hear,"

The doctor said, curious.

"But what happened that suddenly turned you this happy?"

Jihyun's lips curved faintly.

"I got him back."

A chuckle echoed on the other side.

"Really? And here I was worrying. You ignored my calls because you already got what you wanted selfish world."

"Okay, bye. I'm getting ready,"

Jihyun cut the call quickly, jumping from bed. His mood was brighter than the morning light itself.

After a quick shower, he dressed, carefully picking clothes.

A message blinked on his screen.

From Taewon: Are you ready for our first date?

Jihyun grinned, typing back with a playful emoji.

Jihyun: Of course. I'm looking forward to it.

He checked the clock.

Already 11 a.m. He rushed out, knocked on Taewon's door.

The door opened.

Taewon stood there, already dressed neatly. His eyes, however, lingered on Jihyun's oversized pink shirt. The sharp Alpha façade cracke his gaze softened instantly.

"Let's go," Jihyun said, smiling.

But Taewon didn't move.

Instead, he grabbed Jihyun's wrist, pulling him inside and shutting the door.

In the next breath, his lips were on Jihyun's, pressing him against the doorframe.

Jihyun's round eyes flew wide, his heart racing.

Taewon smirked, pulling back slightly. "What's wrong?"

"No… it's just… today is our first date, and you kissed me before we even went out."

"Not a date with a boyfriend,"

Taewon corrected smoothly.

"With a fiancé.

You said it yourself I'm your fiancé."

Jihyun nodded slowly, cheeks heating. Taewon brushed his thumb across his lips, cleaning the smudge of the kiss.

"Don't be shocked. Let's go."

Holding his hand, he led him out.

(In the car)

Jihyun couldn't stop stealing glances at him.

The strong jawline, the steady hands on the wheel. When the car stopped, Taewon turned, catching him.

"Are you planning to look at me like this all day?"

"You're… handsome," Jihyun admitted shyly.

Taewon's lips curved. He cupped Jihyun's cheeks.

"We're already here, but I'll warn you look after this handsome face carefully.

Someone might try to steal it."

"I'll kill anyone who tries to tear us apart," Jihyun answered without hesitation, eyes fierce despite the cuteness.

Taewon raised an eyebrow, amused.

(At the mall)

They began grocery shopping. Taewon pushed the cart toward vegetables.

"This and this should work,"

He murmured, picking things up.

But when he turned, Jihyun had vanished. Taewon looked around and found him happily stuffing snacks into the cart at another aisle.

"Come here,"

Taewon sighed, walking over.

"I'm buying this. And this,"

Jihyun declared, holding up packets.

Taewon could only shake his head.

"You didn't switch yourself with someone else, right?"

"Huh? No. I'm me."

"I see."

Later,

Jihyun surprised him by heading straight to the fruit and vegetable section, picking out items.

Taewon arched a brow.

"So you do know about healthy food too."

As Taewon reached for ladyfingers, Jihyun stopped him.

"Not these. It's not the season, and I don't like them. Let's buy this instead."

He pointed at eggplants.

Taewon's face twisted slightly.

"What?" Jihyun asked.

"I… don't like those."

"Then we're buying them. I'll cook, you'll eat."

Taewon chuckled, slipping ladyfingers back into the cart.

"Fine. Then I'll cook these, and you'll eat."

Jihyun shot him a look, and Taewon quickly surrendered, putting them back.

"Kidding."

Once groceries were done, Taewon paid and took him to a nearby restaurant.

He ordered without asking, and when the plate arrived, Jihyun's eyes lit up.

"You remembered I like beef burgers."

Taewon glanced at him, calm.

"What do you think?"

Jihyun grinned.

"Then you tell me what you like."

"I'll prepare a list and give it to you at home," Taewon teased. "You'll have to memorize it."

"I'm not good at studying. Otherwise, I'd still be in school."

Taewon laughed quietly, shaking his head. They ate,

For the first time in years, Jihyun thought, a day felt normal. But with Taewon, even normal felt like love.
