Chapter 5 - The Shadow In The Dark.

Isla's POV

It was very late when I heard the door slowly opened. I hummed sill feeling sleepy, but when the footsteps came closer, I had to open my eyes.

I opened my eyes, and was about to sit up when he held me down. "You're asleep?" He asked, rubbing my cheek gently, "sorry for waking you up."

Immediately he said that, I frowned. It seemed I had returned from the realm of sleep.

"Good night…" he said, attempting to stand up, but I held him back down. I had so many questions that I wanted to ask him, and I was hoping he was going to answer those questions humbly.

"I just want you to tell me why you want to ruin my life?"

He raised his brows, exhaling in the process before taking his seat. His hands held my face tightly, and he stared right into my eyes.

"I didn't ruin your life, I saved it." He paused. "The person you should be blaming for everything that's happening to you is the person that sold you to Luca. I have no intention of tormenting you," he expressed, staring at me for a few seconds, but when I couldn't say anything, he stood up and walked towards the door, not even another gaze from him.

As soon as he left, I sat up, and couldn't stop being in thoughts. So many things were already too involved.

I was sold out to Luca? Which means that there was someone involved.

Despite the fact that I wanted to crack the code, I still wanted to rest my head from all the stress that had been going on.

The next morning, there was a knock on my door, causing me to groan in bed. I rolled over, and my eyes were still closed before I went unconscious if my surroundings again. However, the knock came again.

"Ugh…" I expressed, finally becoming awake. I wanted to sleep some more, but the constant knocking didn't let me, so I woke up with a frown on my face.

"Come in…" I announced, and only then did the lady come in. Her head was lowered as she walked in.

"Good morning ma'am…" she greeted, making me raise my brows.

"I'm here to get you prepared for breakfast…" she expressed, and I raised my brows.

"Did Dante send you?" I asked, but she shook her head. "It is my duty to you being the Segunda Al Mando."

I widened my eyes. "That meant second in command. We have to do what you say because you are now the one who controls the empire alongside the boss…" she explained, and I smirked.

I agreed with her, allowing her to prepare a bath for me. I got in, enjoyed the bath, but one more thing was still on my mind, who could have sold me?"

Once I came out of the bathroom, I was handed a new cloth to try on. The gown fitted me perfectly, making me look pretty, and attractive at the same time.

"You look good ma'am," she said again, and I nodded with a smile. She was so nice as I felt like I liked her already.

At the breakfast table, I dined with my newly wedded husband who didn't seem to pass me a single glance. Not like it bothered me, at least I was still free to do whatever I wanted to except to step out of the house.

I rolled my eyes, and once breakfast was done I went back to my room, taking another nap because I was exhausted. It had been a lot of stress since the day I was kidnapped till now, and once there was nothing much to do, I decided to relax.

I rested for a while, but by the time I woke up, I was informed that dinner was ready, and Dante wouldn't be around to have dinner with me because he went for business.

"What kind of business?" I asked with raised brows, but they wouldn't say, changing the topic to the food almost immediately.

I didn't object, eating was one way to make me feel better. After what seemed like a while, I finally was able to understand what the hell was going on.

But was still yet to find out who was actually behind me being sold. Just then I recalled someone. My sister…

I had been stuck in a lot of mess that I had actually forgotten Celeste.

Immediately I recalled her, I went around the room, looking for a phone. He had prevented me from going out, but he didn't say I couldn't conduct anyone.

Finally, I was able to find an old telephone in the house. I was working perfectly, and I heaved thinking the heavens were on my side.

Recalling my sister's number, I punched it into the telephone, but the moment I dialled it, waiting for her to take the call. However, it didn't connect.

I tried again, and then again, but the same thing happened, causing me to give up.

Just then, there was a darkness in the room. I stood up, wondering why the power suddenly went out when all of a sudden there was movement.

"You're all alone…" a voice echoed, and I moved, but tripped. Luckily, I held on to the counter, and didn't fall, but out of fear, I started looking for things to protect myself.

Someone was in the room with me, and I didn't even know who.

I was breathing hard, my hand finally touched something, and my eyes widened.

It was a gun, but it was the only thing that could save me right now.

I pointed the gun towards the figure I was seeing, and I felt like everything was off, but I held the gun, my hands trembling.

Sweat formed in my formed on my forehead, and my throat turned dry.

Suddenly, the door opened, and I heard a gun shot. Shock rushes through me, by the lights suddenly came on, and that was when I saw what was actually going on.

Dante's right-hand man was now on the ground bleeding through his chest with Dante standing behind him, a dark look on his face.

"W-who shot the gun?" I asked, still trembling. Did I just kill someone?
