Chapter 12 - CHAPTER 12: Obsession Protocol

The Seoul University Art Gala was supposed to be tasteful.

Elegant.

A little pretentious.

And completely beneath Min-Joon's usual orbit — which made crashing it irresistible.

He arrived like a glitch in the simulation. Black-on-black suit. No tie. Jawline sharp enough to edge weaponry. People turned. Whispers passed like static. The kind of man who made you question your date and your sexuality.

But he wasn't here for attention.

He was here for her.

He found her in the far gallery room.

Hair up.

Backless emerald dress.

A wine glass held like a shield.

She turned.

Froze.

"You shouldn't be here," she said quietly.

"That's true in every room I enter," he replied, smiling. "But I make them better."

Her throat moved as she swallowed.

She didn't run.

Didn't call for help.

"I'm engaged," she whispered.

"I'm not asking for your future," he said, walking slow circles around her. "I'm offering you now."

She tried to hold her ground.

Tried.

But her gaze followed him like gravity.

He stopped behind her.

Spoke so close his breath touched her spine.

"You've never screamed someone's name while the chandelier shook, have you?"

Her lips parted.

He stepped closer.

Didn't touch.

But her body leaned.

"You think this is a sin," he whispered. "But what if it's the first honest decision you've made?"

"I have someone—"

"You have a cage."

Silence.

The sound of a heart breaking inward.

And then—

She turned.

Grabbed his lapel.

Whispered, "If you ruin me… you have to keep me."

He grinned.

Already had.

Later.

Her apartment.

Lights dim.

Engagement ring forgotten in a dish by the door.

Min-Joon didn't undress her.

She did that herself.

Desperately.

Rushed.

Like shame couldn't move fast enough.

Their bodies met with thunder disguised as skin.

He whispered filth in her ear like gospel.

She begged without words.

And when she came undone, it wasn't a scream.

It was a confession.

She clung to him after, fingers digging into his chest.

"You can't leave," she said.

He brushed her hair back.

"I'm not going anywhere."

She smiled into his skin.

Didn't see his eyes.

Didn't see the cold beneath the warmth.

But something did crack in him.

Just slightly.

He stared at the ceiling.

Something soft twisted in his chest — quickly buried beneath a smirk.

The System pulsed:

[New Trait Acquired: Heart Thief]

Your words now leave permanent mental anchors in emotionally unstable targets. Use wisely.

Min-Joon lit a cigarette he didn't need.

Watched Mirae sleep.

And whispered into the dark:

"Was that… almost guilt?"

He laughed once.

But didn't answer.
