Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: The Ultimate Cell Devours the Time Machine Cell

"Hahaha!"

"Son Goku, are you kidding me?"

"Who could possibly be stronger than you and Vegeta? Are you planning to let Rayden or Broly fight instead?"

Cell sneered, thinking Goku had been hit too hard and lost his mind.

But Goku ignored Cell and turned to his son.

"Gohan, it's your turn now. You have to believe in yourself—you can do this."

"Son Gohan?" Cell blinked in surprise.

Piccolo stepped forward.

"Gohan, are you sure you can take on Cell?"

"I'm fine, Uncle Piccolo," Gohan replied calmly. "Dad says I'm stronger than him now."

"What?!"

Vegeta's eyes widened in disbelief.

That brat surpassed Kakarot?!

"Gohan, go for it!"

Krillin, Yamcha, Tien Shinhan, and Chiaotzu cheered loudly for the young warrior.

Whoosh!

Gohan soared into the sky toward Cell.

"This is insane!" Mr. Satan complained loudly. "How can you let a child go up there to fight Cell?"

Meanwhile, Rayden's eyes gleamed with excitement.

"Host! Make sure your cameraman gets everything—don't miss a shot!"

"Y-Yes! Right away!"

The host locked his eyes on Gohan, and the cameraman zoomed in for a close-up.

"Drink!!"

Gohan roared as golden energy erupted from his body. His black hair turned golden and spiked upward, with a few bangs falling onto his forehead. Electric sparks danced around him.

Gohan had transformed into Super Saiyan 2.

His combat power now surpassed Cell's.

"Impossible!"

Cell stared at him, stunned.

He had assumed Goku was joking—yet here this kid stood, brimming with terrifying power.

Before Cell could react, Gohan vanished from view and suddenly reappeared in front of him—then slammed his fist directly into Cell's abdomen.

"Aaaaargh!"

Cell screamed, his body curling in pain as he was blasted backward through the air.

"Damn it!"

Recovering, Cell clenched his teeth, aimed his finger, and fired a thin beam of energy.

"Death Beam!"

In response, Gohan raised both hands over his head and summoned a wave of energy.

"Masenko!"

The golden beam clashed with the death beam—and instantly overwhelmed it, continuing toward Cell.

"NOOOOO—!"

Cell shrieked as the blast engulfed half his body, disintegrating him mid-air.

The host's voice trembled with excitement.

"Dear viewers! It looks like Cell has been destroyed by that boy!"

"Is it over?" Krillin asked. "Did Cell really die?"

Son Goku shook his head.

"Not yet. His energy's still there."

Just then, Cell's half-destroyed body hovered in the air—and suddenly regenerated, good as new. A terrifying aura pulsed outward.

"Cell has Piccolo's cells," Yamcha muttered. "He can regenerate indefinitely."

"Go to hell!!" Cell snarled, furious.

His energy surged again. From the tail hidden beneath his wings, four small Cell clones emerged, squirming as they took shape.

Cell and his mini-copies launched a barrage of attacks toward Gohan.

"Kamehameha!"

"Special Beam Cannon!"

"Death Beam!"

"Afterburner!"

"Destructo Disc!"

Whoosh! Whoosh!

A storm of energy attacks descended toward Gohan.

BOOM! BOOM!

Explosions shook the battlefield, craters forming everywhere.

"Where is he?!" Cell growled, confused.

That barrage should've hit him!

Suddenly, Cell sensed an overwhelming energy behind him. He spun around—and saw Gohan, hands at his waist, energy gathering.

"Kamehameha!"

Cell panicked.

"STOP HIM!!"

Cell and the four mini-Cells immediately charged their own Kamehameha waves in an attempt to counter.

"Nooo!!"

As Gohan's energy wave surged forward, it obliterated the mini-Cells one by one. Terror filled Cell's eyes.

From the side, Rayden narrowed his gaze.

"Ultimate Cell, now's your chance. If you wait, Cell will be completely destroyed. Take him and absorb him elsewhere."

The cloaked figure beside Rayden didn't hesitate. In a flash, Ultimate Cell appeared in front of the injured Cell and took the full impact of the blast for him.

BOOM!

At the moment of the explosion, Ultimate Cell grabbed Cell and instantly vanished from the battlefield.

(Goku and the others, far weaker than Ultimate Cell, couldn't even track his movement.)

Cell coughed weakly.

"Thank you… for saving me."

But Ultimate Cell's voice was cold.

"You're thanking me too soon."

He tossed off his cloak, revealing his long tail—and before Cell could react, he was absorbed.

"NOOOOOOO!"

Cell screamed, but it was too late.

Back at the battlefield, Krillin grinned.

"Gohan did it! Cell is finished!"

Piccolo frowned.

"I don't know... something feels off."

"Really?" Goku scratched his head.

"But Cell's energy is completely gone."

Rayden turned to the host.

"Hey, how about you come with me to do the interview?"

"Of course! Yes, sir!"

The host and the cameraman followed Rayden eagerly.

"Dear viewers," the host began, "Cell has been destroyed by that boy! He's now the hero of Earth! Let's interview him!"

Meanwhile, Mr. Satan was left alone in the wind, dazed and ignored.

Goku smiled and patted Gohan's head.

"I knew you could do it, son!"

Krillin blinked.

"But Goku, why did Rayden bring the host?"

Everyone was confused.

Rayden grinned.

"Gohan, come here! Let the host interview you—you're the hero now!"

"Okay, Uncle Rayden!"

Gohan nodded and walked toward him.

The cameraman handed over the mic, and the host began the live interview.

"We never expected a boy your age to possess such incredible strength! You defeated Cell and saved the world!"

"My strength is average, honestly," Gohan said shyly.

"There are others much stronger than me."

"Where do you live? And how are all of you able to turn into golden-haired warriors?"

"Uh… I live on Mount Paozu. And that's my dad over there."

From that day on, crowds began visiting Mount Paozu, hoping to meet Gohan. Chichi never had to worry about money again.

After the celebration, everyone slowly dispersed.

But Rayden knew the future timeline was still filled with tragedy—so he quietly brought Trunks back to the island for more training.

---

One week later...

"Goku, what are you doing?"

Rayden contacted Goku using Thousand-Mile Sound Transmission.

"I'm training with Vegeta and Piccolo," Goku replied.

"Come to my island. Broly and I will train you personally."

"Awesome! I'll bring Vegeta and Piccolo right away!"

Swish! Swish!

Moments later, Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo appeared on Rayden's island via Instant Transmission.

"Rayden, we're here!" Goku waved happily.

Rayden raised a brow.

"Goku, where's Gohan?"

"Chichi kept him home," Goku sighed.

"There are people showing up every day trying to interview him!"

Rayden nodded.

"Makes sense. Come with me to the next island—Broly's training with Paragus and Trunks."

They flew forward together.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

As they approached, the sound of punches echoed through the air.

Whoosh!

Paragus and Trunks were teaming up against Broly, but Broly easily blocked every strike.

Rayden called out,

"Broly, take a break. Goku and the others will join training now."

Broly shrugged.

"The more, the merrier."

Vegeta turned to Trunks.

"How's your training been going?"

Trunks grinned.

"Dad, I can transform into Super Saiyan 2 now!"

"What?!"

Vegeta's face went pale.

He was surpassed… by his own son!

Goku and Piccolo stifled their laughter.

Rayden walked forward and addressed the group.

"Transformation is just an amplifier. What truly matters is your base combat power."

He turned to Vegeta.

"If your base power had been 400 to 500 million during the Cell fight, then Super Saiyan 1 at full power would've been enough to destroy him with one hit."

"Ahh, I see!"

Goku and Vegeta's eyes lit up with understanding.
