Chapter 31 - CHAPTER 31: WHEN TROUBLE COMES KNOCKING AT YOUR DOOR

"You're powerful, Breaton, but you're still too weak," Patrick said as he grabbed Breaton by the throat and started punching him in the face repeatedly. "You are such an anomaly, Breaton. You're a vampire, a werewolf, a demon, and human all in one package. Quite peculiar. How does that Old saying go again, ah yes... Jack of all trades but master of none."

He said with a sneer, punching Breaton in the face again. As he was about to punch him one more time, Breaton grabbed his arm kicking him away an breaking free from his grip.

"That's not the full saying, let me complete it for you," Breaton said, breathing heavily as blood ran down his face. "Jack of all trades but master of none is often some times better than a master of one."

Patrick sneered. "Oh, please. Do you think knowing that is going to help you? You need to know something: you are too weak. You cannot defeat me, just because you had a little bit of training doesn't mean you're powerful. You have no idea what true power is. I've been alive for fifteen thousand years."

He said then he rushed forward, kicked Breaton into the wall.

Just then, Asdem appeared, dragging Buveur behind him by the leg. He tossed him next to Breaton.

"Pathetic," Asdem said, looking at Breaton and Buveur. "They talk a big game, but they can't back it up."

Breaton and Buveur grinned at each other, and in a burst of energy, they merged into one being. The air around them shimmered, and their bodies began to fuse together, forming a single, more powerful entity.

"Now then, shall we go for round two?" Breaton asked, his voice echoing with power as he stood up.

Patrick and Asdem looked at each other, and suddenly, they burst out laughing. "Don't think you're something special because you merge," they said in unison then their energies combined, and Patrick's power surged. He remained the same, but with an intense boost in strength.

"You think you're something special, merging with that mutt?" Patrick sneered, his voice now infused with Asdem's tone. "Just like Buveur's a part of you, Asdem's a part of me. You're nothing special, and you're still too weak."

The air seemed to vibrate with Patrick's increased power as he glared at Breaton and Buveur's merged form.

The second round was no different from the last. Patrick began to pummel Breaton again. Breaton tried to defend himself, but Patrick's increased power was too much. He landed blow after blow, sending Breaton flying across the room. Breaton's vision blurred as he struggled to get back to his feet. Buveur's strength was there, but it wasn't enough to overcome Patrick's overwhelming power.

Patrick stood over Breaton, a cruel grin spreading across his face. "You can't even take a hit, Breaton. You're pathetic. This is boring." How are you even going to save your side peace '' if you can't even beat me?" he said with a sigh. As he and Asdem unmerged.

"You're not even worthy of killing. I want you to live, Breaton, live and remember this defeat, knowing there's always someone stronger than you out there," Patrick said, then he and Asdem disappeared, leaving Breaton on the ground, battered and bloody.

A half hour later, Lyra and the team found Breaton,Unconscious and barely breathing, Lyra's eyes widened in horror as she took in Breaton's battered state. "Oh no, Breaton!" she cried, rushing to his side. The team quickly moved in, assessing the damage and springing into action to stabilize him.

Zara face was a mix of concern and anger as she examined Breaton's injuries. "We need to get him back to the compound, now. He's not going to make it if we don't treat him ASAP."

"We have to report this to director Gus ." Lyra said .

A hour later, a helicopter arrived at their location. As it landed, Olissa jumped out and ran over to Breaton's side, followed by Gus, Jennifer, and Jack.

Gus's expression was stern as he asked, "Can someone explain to me what happened here?"

"Director Gus, we'll debrief once we return to base," Lyra said.

Gus nodded. "I can accept that. Let's get out of here. Breaton looks to be in critical condition."

The team quickly got Breaton loaded into the helicopter, and it took off, flying swiftly back to the compound. The tension was palpable as they flew, the only sound the hum of the rotors and the beeping of Breaton's medical equipment.

Gus's eyes never left Breaton's face, his expression a mix of concern and worry. This was not looking good. Not good at all.

As they reached league of enders HQ, Breaton was quickly wheeled to the emergency room for the League's healers to work on him. Olissa stayed by his side, tears in her eyes.

Gus, Jennifer, and Jack led the team to the meeting room to debrief.

Shortly after the debriefing, the alarms in the headquarters started to go off. The system's monitor voice started to speak, repeating the same sentence: "Warning, warning, intruder alert, intruder alert. Alexandria, the leader of the Coven of Lock-Loopers, has been spotted outside. Warning, she is not alone. Multiple energy signatures detected. Three hundred witches detected. Five hundred werewolves detected."

The meeting room fell silent, all eyes fixed on the screens displaying the feed from the headquarters' surveillance cameras. Gus's expression turned grim, his voice steady. "This is not good. Jennifer, get the teams on high alert. Jack, get the defenses up. Lyra, you're with me. We're going to meet our... 'guests'."

"Gus wait let me go outside and confront my sister" Jennifer said her expression on readable.

Gus's expression turned stern, his voice firm. "Jennifer no, she almost killed you last time. We don't know what we're dealing with here. We need to assess the situation before anyone goes out there."

Jennifer's eyes flashed with determination, mirroring Lyra's earlier expression. "She's my sister, Gus. I need to talk to her. I can calm her down. We've been through thick and thin, and I know I can reach her."

Gus's gaze held steady, his jaw clenched. "Not without backup, you're not. We're doing this my way, Jennifer. Lyra, get a team ready. We're going to meet Alexandria."

Meanwhile, outside, Alexandria sat on the back of a large werewolf, looking into the cameras with a sneer on her face. "I know you're in there, Enders. I'm here to get my daughter. Hand her over to me this instant. Other wiseI will destroy your building," Alexandria said, using magic to amplify her voice.

The sound of her voice boomed through the headquarters, echoing off the walls. The team exchanged nervous glances, their eyes fixed on the screens displaying the feed from the surveillance cameras.

"We need to know what we're dealing with before we go out there. Hey, system, scan Alexandria and the wolf she's sitting on," Gus said with a frown.

The system's monotone voice spoke: "Scanning primary targets."

Shortly after, it spoke again: "Scan complete. Target 1: Gender: Female, Name: Alexandria E-mete, Race: Grand High Witch, Blood Pressure: 140/90, Body Temperature: 98.6°F, Heart Rate: 72 bpm, Power Range: 1,500,000 out of 1,500,000. No weaknesses detected at this current point in time.

Target 2: Gender: Male, Name: Rikai Yon, Race: Alpha Werewolf, Blood Pressure: 150/100, Body Temperature: 102°F, Heart Rate: 120 bpm, Power Range: 200,000 out of 200,000."

"Finally, a challenge. Someone go get my sister, Tatiana. She'll be happy to hear this," Jack said enthusiastically.
