Chapter 17 - An unexpected attack.

- The month had passed swiftly, and now the day arrived when she would return to her own house. My vigil is constant, a silent guardian ensuring her safety, and I will see this through to the very end.

- As dawn broke, painting the sky in hues of rose and gold, she departed in her carriage. I shadowed her, a wraith in the pre-dawn light, using flying skill and stealth to vanish from sight, my presence utterly imperceptible.

- We had not traveled far when the first signs of trouble emerged. Hooded figures, moving with an unsettling, disciplined speed, materialized from the surrounding shadows. There was an undeniable menace in their unified advance, their destination unmistakably the carriage ahead. - My senses sharpened, every instinct screaming of impending danger.

- They descended upon the carriage with a brutal efficiency, the sounds of conflict echoing in the quiet morning. Swords clashed, and cries erupted, but what struck me was their method. They were killing some, yes, but a disturbing number were merely being incapacitated, knocked unconscious rather than slain. This was no random banditry.

- From my concealed vantage, I observed them closely, and a chilling realization dawned. It wasn't a singular attacking force. Some of the hooded assailants moved with a peculiar fluidity, seamlessly integrated, almost protecting others within their own ranks who seemed to be attempting to conceal their true identities or evade recognition. There was a hidden agenda, a complex web of allegiances within their assault.

- My decision was instantaneous. With a fluid motion, my sword was unsheathed, the whisper of steel a familiar comfort. I deactivated my stealth skill, but a further precaution was necessary. I drew a dark cloth over my face, obscuring features that, to some, might be disturbingly familiar. Recognition, at this moment, was a luxury I could not afford.

- I moved like a phantom, striking with precision and lethal intent. Most of the primary attackers fell beneath my blade, their hooded forms collapsing to the ground. But then, I turned my attention to the guards who lay unconscious. Their complicity, or perhaps their forced incapacitation, was a variable I couldn't ignore.

- A calculated few of them met the same fate as their assailants. Yet, I deliberately left two alive: one of the incapacitated guards and a single attacker. From them, the truth of this intricate, unexpected assault would be extracted.

- I checked the carriage to see Rose sitting there shocked and scared to see what happened but I instantly locked the door and shifted my gaze to the two I captured.

- I first sat in front of the hooded attacker and take off his hood and see his face, he was a man i didn't recognise but I still intrrogated him to learn the full truth.

- " Who sent you after her? And why did they sent you? Leon.

- " I won't tell you anything you can only kill me." Man.

- " If you say so." After I said that I used my dark magic and made him horrified by showing the most horrified experience even sometimes inflict pain, to make him talk, after sometime he started talking.

- " Sorry please forgive me, I was just following orders from the higher ups." Man.

- " The higher ups? Who are they? Leon.

- " They are from the principality, I think they want something from her." Man.

- After I heard him I was taken aback about his sudden confess, the principality that didn't existed in the game's storyline.

- I knocked unconscious the man and went to the guards and wake him up, I looked at him he had a terrified look on his face and it asked him another question.

- " Who ordered you to kidnap her? Leon.

- " They are the ones, they wanted me to do it, I don't know anything else." Escort.

- After he said that answer my eye of truth skill activated stating he is telling a lie, and I used the same skills again to make him spill the truth.

- After he was terrified by that experience he spilled everything, that her father wanted her to get kidnapped and get money by saying the Krueger house are the ones responsible and get a compensation.

- After hearing that words I felt anger in me knowing for money he would even make his daughter experience this horrible thing.

- I calmed down and asked him for another information but he said he didn't knew anything further and my skill didn't activate stating he told the truth.

- Apparently her father wanted to make some money but the principality fraction entered in between wanting to take her away and take her saintess ability and give her to another one of them and if that happens she have to die for them to take it and I can't allow it to happen.

- I went back to the carriage after I killed those two and entered inside still my face hidden, she was scared she didn't no couldn't ask me who I was and then I used teleportation to teleport us back to the mansion.

- I instantly teleported to my room without anyone knowing and looked down from the window watching them cause a ruckus about the news.

- After some days of calming her down and cheering her up they prepared another carriage again and other more trained escorts to escort her and they ordered me to protect her and meet her family.

- After I heard that news I immediately wanted to decline but thought they may attack again and take her away and if that happens it will be great danger so I accepted it in the end.

- After a long journey we arrived at the city of Carran, a city that was smaller than Vale but not too small prospering in adventures and had some dungeons nearby.

- We arrived at their mansion and was welcomed by the servants of the house and the Countess, Lady Ursula Weller and showed me my room and asked if I need anything else but I declined politely and went to my room.
