Chapter 24 - New Life DxD- Chapter 23

Once again, I rushed toward my target in the slow world. This time, my left hand, covered in blood-red scales and golden protrusions, [Boosted Gear], fully manifested. My human left hand became a dragon's claw-filled paw. I grabbed Dohnaseek's head just as his light spear fully formed, and then [BOOST], then [TRANSFER], and finally, *squelch*—Dohnaseek's head exploded, his brain mush, skull, and blood splattering everywhere, staining Kalawarner, Milttet, and my face. And then, Dohnaseek's headless body turned into light, joining the mana in the air, while his consciousness went to the void, like other dead supernatural beings.

"KYAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH"

Milttet screamed in fright, her blue irises trembling. To her eyes, it happened instantly. One moment, I was in one spot, and then I appeared in front of the decapitated Dohnaseek with disgusting brain and blood splattered everywhere, staining her pretty face and lovely dress.

"What… impossible… that gauntlet… the Gauntlet of the Red Dragon Emperor… How? You're supposed to be just a normal human with a normal [Sacred Gear]? There was no information about you being the current Red Dragon Emperor, and this strong!"

Kalawarner's pupils contracted in fright and shock, her body twitching as her survival instincts told her to flee for her life. I felt resigned when I saw that look. Kalawarner had just lost the will to fight after discovering who I was and how powerful I was. It wasn't fun; well, there was never any fun fighting weaklings like them.

Kalawarner tried to escape, teleporting out of here. However, she was still slow, too slow, like a snail. My left hand instantly reached her neck, like a striking snake, and my claws choked her. Thus, the teleportation equation was disrupted, and Kalawarner lost her chance to escape.

I leaked a bit of my restrained power and intent from my body. The domineering pressure of my willpower struck Kalawarner and Milttet's minds. I let them feel my unwavering willpower, the arrogant intent that had no mercy for those who dared stand in my way.

Carnage. Massacre. Bloodshed. Destruction. Despair. Death.

Kalawarner and Milttet's minds reeled under my domineering presence, their eyes tearing up and urinating at the same time. Their bodies trembled like small, scarred animals in front of a true predator.

"Please… don't kill me. *Hic* I don't want to die. *Hic* *Sob… I'll do anything!" Milttet whimpered in despair, knowing there was no chance for her if we fought.

Although Kalawarner couldn't speak because I was strangling her, she was already desperate and submitted to me. They were too afraid of death. And because of that, I lost my mood to play with them. They were too pathetic to be my prey and no longer my prayers.

In the middle of the blood-stained church, which gave off a grim and menacing sight, three silhouettes could be seen. It was me, Kalawarner, and Milttet.

After dealing with dozens of exorcists and Dohnaseek, the two remaining female Fallen Angels were left. My right hand was choking Kalawarner's neck, preventing her from escaping through teleportation magic. Beside her, a sobbing Milttet stared at me with a fearful expression.

I watched Kalawarner gasping. Her yellow eyes still hadn't completely given up. When I saw that, I found this woman quite interesting. She didn't seem simple and had the look of a schemer.

I connected everything in my mind immediately. Kalawarner was probably biding her time while looking for a crack in my guard. When she found a chance to escape, she'd do it in the blink of an eye, leaving her loli comrade behind. What a heartless and meticulous woman. I couldn't let her go free like that. But what could I do to keep her on a leash?

Well, fortunately, I had a solution for a problem like this.

Death.

I focused a bit of my power into my free left hand. Immediately, a blood-red aura covered my left hand, and a small magic circle appeared in my palm. I moved my left hand toward her ample left breast.

Kalawarner's yellow eyes trembled frantically. She was afraid I'd do something to kill her.

Her struggle made her G-cup chest quiver. In her eyes, my hand was like the scythe of death that would steal her life and future. Unfortunately, her struggle was for nothing. My strength far overwhelmed her pathetic strength.

My hand began to ignite as a flame appeared.

"GAAAH! GYAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!"

Painful screams echoed in the surroundings. It was heart-wrenching and spine-chilling to the listener. Kalawarner struggled harder, her hands gripping my left and right hands. She tried to pry my hand off and escape the burning pain she was feeling. As the pain was too much, she couldn't spare enough focus to create a light weapon for retaliation. Her mind was consumed by pain and despair.

Beside her, Milttet's knees gave out, and she collapsed to the floor with a face full of terror. Her fragrance was ruined by the smell of urine. She watched in fear as she observed and heard the sight of Kalawarner struggling and her tortured scream.

And in less than seconds, the crimson flames of purgatory devoured the Fallen's body until nothing remained.

"HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII"

Milttet let out a loud, terrified scream as my gaze shifted from Kalawarner to her. Milttet's body trembled in terror. And her blue irises were filled with nothing but fear. I wouldn't be wrong if someone said she was mentally broken.

"Please! I-I'll do anything! I'll do anything! Spare me! Spare me! I don't want to die!"

Again, pleas and whimpers came from Milttet's mouth, like a broken recorder. Of course, I ignored her. Seeing me advancing toward her, she tried to crawl away on all fours, but it was just a futile and wasted effort.

I moved in the slow world and appeared above Milttet, her small body between my legs. Milttet turned her face with a slow, mechanical motion. Her face showed despair, tears streaming endlessly.

"Please! I beg you! I don't want to die!"

"Don't worry, I'll make it painless," I said to her, making her despair grow.

At that moment, Milttet regretted following Raynare's plan. She should have stayed in Grigori and continued her monotonous and harsh life as cannon fodder. Raynare's plan was too good to be true, but she believed her status would rise, and she could have a good life if she followed Raynare's plan. She never thought they'd provoke a literal sleeping dragon, a Heavenly Dragon at that. In the end, Milttet could only resign herself. What could she do? She was terrified of dying and the fearsome Red Dragon Emperor.

I simply placed my hand on her head, making the Fallen look at me in surprise. When I removed my hand, her body was encased in a large block of ice.

See? Painless.

With a snap of my fingers, the block shattered, taking her out of existence.

"Those bastards couldn't kill him."

The curse snapped Gilgamesh out of his thoughts. He turned and saw Raynare standing. Blood covered most of her body, her legs trembled, and her skin looked paler, while sweat also drenched her figure. It was clear she could barely stand now.

She clearly hadn't recovered from her last battle.

But that wasn't what caught his attention.

It was the person she was holding. It was a beautiful blonde girl trembling in fear, wearing nothing but a sleeveless white shirt that reached her knees. This girl was the excommunicated nun.

She was a very young girl with long blonde hair and green eyes. Her body measurements were [B83 → 85-W55-H81 → 83 cm]; her height was [155 cm] [5 feet 1 inch], and her body weight was [44 → 45 kg] [97 → 98 pounds]. Her hair flowed down to her back, with split bangs on her forehead and a strand sticking out from the top, slanting backward.

Her former main attire consisted of a dark nun outfit with light blue details, a white veil over her head with light blue accents, a brown satchel slung on her right hip (where she kept her Bible), and brown boots with black straps in an X-shaped pattern. She also wore a silver cross necklace around her neck.

It was Asia Argento, the girl he came to save.

"Ha! That was your last chance, kid!" Raynare mocked him with a smug face. "Don't move!" She shouted as her hand glowed and she placed it near Asia's neck, ready to fire light and kill her. "If you move, I'll kill her!" She shouted menacingly.

Gilgamesh grimaced at hearing this, grinding his teeth in anger while clicking his tongue in disgust. Seeing this, Raynare slowly developed a sickly smile on her face before it turned into an ugly snarl.

"You ruined everything," she said, the anger in her voice clear. "You ruined my entire plan! My plan for Azazel-sama! You destroyed my chance to be loved by him!" She screamed in pure hatred with a hint of despair.

Gilgamesh remained silent and looked at her, his expression still stoic.

"I had to agree with Kokabiel's suggestion and follow his orders, even though I knew it was strange and something was wrong with it! But I decided to follow it because I knew if I succeeded, Azazel-sama would look at me! He would love me! He would praise me and see me as someone worthy!"

Pity… That certainly wasn't what Gilgamesh expected to feel for her… But now, seeing her like this… He felt nothing but pure pity for the Fallen Angel…

"But you! You just came here, barging in and destroying everything! On top of that, you even made my fellow Fallen Angels betray me! Me! I am Raynare of Grigori!" Raynare declared her title with a mix of anger and madness in her tone. "And worse! You're just a human, but you have so much power! How?! You're just a cursed creature! Your kind even commits sins darker than ours!" And yet! You! You have so much power!"

Envy… It was clear that this woman had fallen to envy… Even if she didn't say it, Gilgamesh knew… Seeing her behavior and words, it was more than enough for him to know.

"I'll kill her, you hear me?!" Raynare yanked Asia's hair harshly, and the girl let out a cry of pain. "Even if you kill me, at least I'll kill her first! You'll know the taste of despair and hatred for failing! Just like me! Die as a nobody! You'll despair! For the sake of Azazel-sama and Grigori!" She screamed in pure insanity, her beautiful face gone, replaced by an expression of pure malice and a wicked smile.

Gilgamesh showed no outward reaction to her words. His face was still stern as he turned to Asia.

"Asia Argento, right?" Gilgamesh asked in English, knowing the girl was a foreigner and unlikely to speak Japanese. The girl in question managed a weak nod, showing she understood and answered his question at the same time. "Don't worry, I'll save you." He smiled slightly.

Asia didn't know why, but something inside her told her she could trust him.

"I believe you," Asia said with a smile.

Raynare, who was listening to the conversation, had her smile waver and be replaced by pure hatred. How dare this human?! Even now, he's still looking down on her! He'll pay!

"Watch her die, human!" She screamed as the glow of light in her hand began to intensify and…

SQUELCH!

Raynare looked down and saw a sword embedded in her right chest. Looking at Gilgamesh, she saw a golden portal beside him with a sword emerging from it.

Quickly, Gilgamesh appeared in front of her and kicked her away, catching Asia in his arms and holding her.

"Close your eyes, I'll take care of this," Gilgamesh said to Asia, who complied with his request.

Gilgamesh began advancing toward Raynare with hatred, all the Fallen could do was crawl on the ground.

Appearing in front of her, Gilgamesh grabbed her neck and lifted her to his height.

"You dare harm someone I want to protect?! You dare, insect?! Know that I'll kill anyone who thinks of laying a hand on my friends," Gilgamesh said, his face filled with pure rage.

Then Gilgamesh's hand ignited in flames that began to burn Raynare's entire body, even her soul, erasing her from existence—such was the power of the purgatory flames.

"Hero-san?"

Gilgamesh turned to the girl behind him. The girl was staring at her savior with large green eyes full of concern.

"Are you okay?" she asked softly, still in English, and Gilgamesh blinked in surprise.

"That's my line," Gilgamesh said. "Are you okay?" he asked with a smile.

"I… I… I'm fine! Hero-san saved me, so I'm fine," the girl stammered a bit, and Gilgamesh laughed in response.

"Anyway, let's get out of here. Oh, and you should wear this." He gave the girl a red cape with gold details that he took from the [Gate of Babylon]. It could cover her body better than the sleeveless shirt she was wearing—he could even see a nipple poking through, for crying out loud!

Asia looked confused at the cape for a moment before realizing her clothing, and her eyes widened. She let out an 'EEP!' and quickly grabbed the cape like a hungry kitten and used it to cover herself.

Gilgamesh just laughed at this while shaking his head in amusement. Then he grabbed Asia's shoulder and picked her up in a bridal carry, making her let out another 'EEP!' as her blush deepened even more. You could compare her face to a tomato now.

"H-Hero-san! T-This is—!"

"Ah, don't protest, princess. At the end of a story, all heroes save the princess by carrying her in a bridal style, so accept it, okay?" Gilgamesh said playfully with a smile.

To the boy's surprise, Asia blinked with a genuinely confused look. She seemed thoughtful and tilted her head to one side.

"Really? That's how it works?" she asked, genuinely unaware.

"Yes!" Gilgamesh replied while nodding his head up and down.

"O-Okay then! I-If H-Hero-san says so, then I believe you," she declared while stammering a bit, her blush making her expression even cuter.

Gilgamesh could barely stop himself from falling to his knees due to the overwhelming cuteness she was displaying.

"Where are we going?" Asia asked curiously.

Gilgamesh looked at her with a smile.

"To your new family," Gilgamesh said as he left the church.

And so, the damsel was rescued, not by a mere hero, but by their King.
