Chapter 45 - New Life DxD- Chapter 43

Several Days Later.

It had been several days since the events in the Familiar Forest, and some of the familiars had moved into Gilgamesh's house with his group, requiring the house to be expanded so everyone could live together.

Tiamat had moved in with them because her cave had been destroyed, and she was given her own room where she spent most of her time polishing her treasures or helping Gilgamesh improve his mastery over the draconic magic he possessed thanks to Ddraig. Also, whenever Gilgamesh woke up, Tiamat was sleeping in his room with her breasts on his head, and it took all his self-control not to take the woman right then and there. She also continued working for Ajuka Beelzebub due to a favor.

Fenrir had also moved into the house and was living well. He usually slept in Enkidu's room, and the Weapon of the Gods treated the God-Devouring Wolf as one would treat a pet. He bought a collar with Fenrir's name, as well as water and food bowls and a little house for the wolf, and took him out for walks. Fenrir had also assumed a more normal size, like Regulus, now being the size of a regular wolf.

Although Fenrir seemed quite happy with the attention he was receiving.

The God-Devouring Wolf also seemed to have established a hierarchy in the house and had high standards, disliking incompetence.

In his hierarchy, Gilgamesh came first, followed by Enkidu, Sebas, Arturia, then himself, and finally Mordred, Valerie, and Asia. The wolf obeyed those above him as if they were his master and treated those below him with indifference.

How he established this hierarchy, no one knows.

Currently, everyone was inside the dungeon, which this time resembled a vast green plain with some mountains and trees around it.

Further away from the center were Sebas, Tiamat, Arturia, Mordred, Valerie, Asia, and Fenrir, observing the center.

In the center of the field, on one side stood Enkidu, wearing his usual cloak, and on the other side was Gilgamesh.

Gilgamesh was wearing his golden armor, but only the lower part and the right glove, with a smile on his face.

"Don't forget, Gil, out of 786 battles against you, I've won 395," Enkidu said, smiling.

"I know," Gilgamesh said, grumbling for having won fewer battles.

This competition between them had started ever since Enkidu was summoned by Gilgamesh.

They weren't always battles; sometimes they were bets or competitions, though in battles, Enkidu had a higher number of victories.

While Gilgamesh had far greater raw power, Enkidu had much more technique and experience with his power, and he had also learned many things while traveling the world with Gilgamesh.

Of course, the battle would change if Gilgamesh used his Longinus, but the King of Heroes didn't use them because he wanted to gain as much power and experience as possible without relying on them.

After all, the Longinus were weapons meant to enhance the user's power. What was the point of enhancing something if he didn't have the power to begin with? Therefore, the stronger he was in his base form, the stronger he would be when using his Longinus, as Gilgamesh didn't like depending on them.

Slowly, the usual expressions of Gilgamesh and Enkidu turned serious as they stared at each other and increased their powers.

As they unleashed their power, the entire dimension began to tremble and seemed to collapse as their auras clashed to see which would prevail.

Gilgamesh and Enkidu gained golden auras of pure power around them. While Gilgamesh's was more brutal and seemed to want to dominate everything around it, Enkidu's was calmer and more refined, but both were equally powerful and oppressive.

All this happened in a matter of seconds, as both were analyzing each other. Their powers were equal, and therefore, the first to let their guard down would lose.

Then Gilgamesh moved.

Flexing his legs, the ground around him was destroyed as he advanced with a speed impossible to be seen even by Ultimate-Class beings.

However, Enkidu saw it and advanced at the same speed toward Gilgamesh.

The King of Heroes summoned a sword and swung it at Enkidu, while the Weapon of the Gods created a blue energy blade in his left hand and launched it at Gilgamesh.

Both clashed against each other, and the space seemed to collapse with the power both were displaying, with eager smiles on their faces.

With incredible skill, Gilgamesh threw Enkidu back, but as soon as Enkidu touched the ground again, he shot toward Gilgamesh, causing them to clash once more.

They began an incredible sword duel, a duel with surreal skill, something that could only be achieved with great talent and experience in wielding it, a level of swordsmanship so great that even the Gods of War would be stunned that someone could wield a weapon like that.

With a swift advance, Enkidu threw Gilgamesh back. The King of Heroes landed before looking at Enkidu, only to widen his eyes at what he saw.

The entire landscape began to change as the trees around them started moving as if they were alive. Gigantic roots, the size of houses, emerged from the ground to destroy everything in their path.

All of them moved thanks to Enkidu's magic, [Natural World Magic], a special magic that could only be used by someone with a strong bond with nature, allowing its user to freely manipulate nature.

Gilgamesh knew this was very dangerous. These roots were far more than mere pieces of wood. Gilgamesh had seen Enkidu use these roots to kill Ultimate-Class demons, all of them reinforced by his divine power, making them stronger and more resilient.

Gilgamesh began dodging them with great agility, using his [Kenbunshoku Haki] to anticipate each movement, thanks to his ability to catch a glimpse of the future. But when he saw there were too many, he resorted to another solution.

A golden portal appeared at his side, and from it, Gilgamesh drew a sword—a large, two-handed golden broadsword with a blue jewel embedded in the hilt, exuding a magnificence and enormity that made it seem crafted by inhuman hands.

The moment he drew it, the sword reacted. Power, absolute and unadulterated strength emanated from it, the color of twilight swirling and swelling with power around it.

But it wasn't an ordinary sword. It was the holy sword of the Nibelungs, used to slay the dragon Fafnir. It was a cursed holy blade that held the attributes of Gram, the demonic blade of its origin, so it would shift between holy and demonic attributes depending on who wielded it. Having accomplished the feat of slaying dragons, those with dragon blood would suffer additional damage from it. Perhaps because it was the property of a king, it specialized in fighting against armies.

"The evil dragon shall fall. All shall be divided into light and shadow. The world will now reach twilight."

One of the flaws of the original Gilgamesh was that he was a king. He could be classified as the highest of all Heroic Spirits because he possessed over a thousand Noble Phantasms, and each of these could be used to kill all relatives of Heroic Spirits. But that was his flaw—he was a king, a man who possessed them. He wasn't a warrior capable of using them to their fullest potential, not a man who could push Noble Phantasms to their ultimate limit.

But Diogo, who reincarnated into Gilgamesh's body, surpassed this limitation.

His ability to use any weapon, combined with his natural talent and years of training, allowed him to wield any weapon to its fullest.

And this… enabled Gilgamesh to wield the Noble Phantasms he possessed as those heroes who wielded them to their final level.

With such skill, Gilgamesh became not only the Great King but also the Warrior capable of using any type of weapon.

Gilgamesh held it above his head, and it began to glow with an orange light. The jewel stored and preserved magical energy, the True Ether of the Age of the Gods, and releasing it caused it to emanate a twilight aura. The twilight grew around the sword and was released as a flash of light, a surging wave with the sole purpose of destruction.

Great Phantasmal Sword, Fell the Demon of the Heavens.

"Balmung!"

A powerful semicircular wave formed with the sole purpose of complete destruction was unleashed when Gilgamesh struck the sword. It cut through the air and space, slicing everything in its path toward Enkidu.

All the roots and trees were destroyed as the power of a legendary weapon advanced, cutting through everything in its path. When it neared Enkidu, the Weapon of the Gods leapt, dodging the wave of destruction that continued forward, demolishing a mountain before stopping.

Enkidu didn't waste time and, still in the air, unleashed his magical power, creating dozens of golden orbs made of pure divine power and launching them at Gilgamesh with rapid speed.

Gilgamesh wasn't intimidated and summoned a stone tablet in his hand, beginning to release his magical power and manipulate various mystical codes that emerged from the tablet. Dozens of magical circles appeared around Gilgamesh with various different magical emblems, all fortified with the [Sovereign of Magic Wands] ability, which increased magical attack power at a lower cost.

From the magical circles, various elemental attacks were fired—fire, earth, lightning, compressed air, water, and even light and shadow—all strengthened by his divine power and even different magics used thanks to his magical circles, including fairy magic, Norse magic, and dozens of other magics, all fired against Enkidu's power.

The entire sky filled with explosions, and the heavens and earth shook as the powers of the two friends and rivals clashed.

Enkidu quickly landed and touched the ground, creating dozens of chains and launching them at Gilgamesh.

The King of Heroes widened his eyes as he saw the chains advance toward him and quickly summoned a sword, deflecting the first two chains. With a leap, he dodged the others and swung his sword, releasing a wave of his magical power that destroyed all the other chains.

Looking up, Gilgamesh saw dozens of weapons falling toward him and prepared to dodge, but he couldn't move. Looking down, he saw a chain binding his foot.

Gilgamesh could only widen his eyes as all of Enkidu's weapons fell upon him.

Enkidu looked at where the weapons landed, raising a cloud of dust, with anticipation to see the result.

When the dust settled, it revealed Gilgamesh without a scratch, with all the weapons embedded in the ground around him.

Enkidu smiled when he realized what Gilgamesh had done.

When the weapons were about to hit him, the King of Heroes used his wind magic to alter their trajectory, making them miss, and used a dome of compressed air to protect himself from the resulting explosion.

Gilgamesh smiled at Enkidu and, with a wave of his hand, several portals opened around him, from which magical staves emerged, firing energy waves at Enkidu.

Enkidu smiled and touched the ground, causing a wall of earth to rise and block all the attacks.

Smiling, Enkidu touched the ground and released a pulse of energy, making the grass as sharp as blades, which shot toward Gilgamesh.

The King of Heroes widened his eyes before leaping to dodge, but the grass rose and charged at him to cut him. Gilgamesh quickly used his [Busoshoku Haki] to protect his skin, which gained a metallic black sheen.

When the grass collided with him, sparks flew as if two blades had clashed.

Gilgamesh moved even further away and dodged everything. He extended his hands, and from his right hand emerged crimson flames, and from his left, black flames, both burning everything.

"Blazing Inferno of the Black Purgatory Dragon."

He launched them, a mixture of [Purgatory Dragon Slayer Magic] combined with his [Hellblaze], which advanced, burning everything in its path without leaving even ashes behind.

When Gilgamesh's flames stopped, it was revealed that the once-beautiful landscape had become a vast, barren field with flames still burning.

Enkidu grimaced at this, as he didn't like destroying nature, but he quickly composed himself, knowing this was a battle.

Gilgamesh smiled at Enkidu, who didn't understand.

Gilgamesh made a motion as if grabbing something, and at that moment, he flexed his fingers, making the air move in the same way. He quickly pulled the air as if it were tangible, and at that moment, the world shifted.

"Shima Yurashi (Island Shaker)."

The entire dimension began to tremble as the earth and sea rose and shook, causing shockwaves wherever they passed.

Enkidu, seeing he was losing balance, quickly created one of his chains and tied it to a solid spot to hold himself.

The entire earth was shaking violently, sending shockwaves that indiscriminately destroyed everything and caused destruction wherever they passed.

When Gilgamesh released it, the earth returned to normal, and Enkidu was surprised by this.

Gilgamesh hadn't attacked; at most, he had sent a few shockwaves, which only served to cause imbalance. If Gilgamesh had attacked during this, it would have been another story, but he didn't.

Enkidu prepared to attack but stopped when he felt himself enveloped in a shadow.

When Enkidu looked behind him, he widened his eyes at what he saw.

A gigantic wave of earth, so large it blocked the sun. Then Enkidu understood what Gilgamesh had done.

The shockwave he sent served to bring this massive wave of earth upon him, as if Gilgamesh had thrown an entire island at Enkidu's head.

All this thanks to the power of the [Gura Gura No Mi].

Enkidu could logically escape the wave, but Gilgamesh would prevent him from doing so, meaning he'd have to worry about an attack from the front and behind.

The most obvious solution would be to use his divine power to destroy the entire mountain, but to do that, he'd need concentration, and in that moment, Gilgamesh would attack and win.

So Enkidu made the craziest decision that would yield the best result.

Enkidu leapt toward the wave of earth, to Gilgamesh's astonishment.

When Enkidu touched the earth, he released a massive pulse of his energy, and all the earth began to transform into weapons.

Enkidu was using his ability, his Noble Phantasm [Age of Babylon], to turn all the earth into weapons.

Slowly, they all appeared in the sky—swords, arrows, spears, halberds, axes, hammers, and the most diverse weapons possible filled the sky, covering the entire battlefield, so beautiful that even the greatest artisans of all ages would be stunned by their beauty.

When he finished, Enkidu was panting in the sky, surrounded by dozens of weapons.

Enkidu had taken some time to create them all, but he succeeded because Gilgamesh was still surprised by it.

Enkidu knew Gilgamesh would survive this because his best friend always made crazy plans that worked during battle.

[Holy crap!!!] Ddraig shouted from within Gilgamesh's mind.

Both he, Arashi, and Regulus could see and hear through Gilgamesh's senses and had been watching the battle from the start, now unable to hide their amazement.

Ddraig was very impressed with the power of each of these weapons. If these weapons were Dragon Slayer, the Heavenly Dragon of Domination knew he would be gravely injured if he were the one fighting while alive.

He really wanted to know how his partner would escape this.

Gilgamesh knew that just the [Gate of Babylon] wouldn't be enough. Although Gilgamesh was certain he had enough weapons, he wasn't sure if he could release them in time.

Although he had several options to escape, the main ones involved his Longinus or using his [Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan] to use [Kamui] and other abilities.

But Gilgamesh had a better plan.

Gilgamesh activated his [Sharingan], which enhanced his ability to anticipate movements, and looked at Enkidu, who was smiling.

Then the weapons fell.

All of Enkidu's weapons fell like meteors to the ground, strengthened by gravity, crashing into the earth with power worthy of weapons made to match Gilgamesh's.

Gilgamesh quickly began manipulating various mystical codes, creating hundreds of magical circles around him before firing dozens of magical energy beams of various elements against Enkidu's weapons.

Seeing they weren't enough, Gilgamesh extended his hands and opened dozens of golden portals, from which he released dozens of weapons simultaneously to counter Enkidu's.

All the weapons clashed, causing massive explosions across the sky, but no matter how many Gilgamesh struck down, others took their place and continued advancing.

All Gilgamesh could do before the weapons fell upon him was widen his eyes.

The impact was massive, shaking the entire earth.

Enkidu landed on the ground and approached the dust, which, when it settled, revealed the outcome.

Dozens of various weapons were embedded across the battlefield like trees.

When Enkidu approached where Gilgamesh was, he saw the King of Heroes lying on the ground with various weapons embedded around him, some stuck in his body, which was leaking blood.

Although it seemed like a life-or-death battle, Enkidu was certain Gilgamesh would survive.

"Do you surrender, Gil?" Enkidu asked, smiling at his friend, who, even in that state, laughed.

"You were very clever, thinking you'd turn my attack against me," Gilgamesh said with a tone of amusement.

Enkidu laughed at this too.

"Yes. So, do you surrender?" the Weapon of the Gods asked again.

"That would be impossible, after all, I won," Gilgamesh said, laughing.

Enkidu raised an eyebrow in doubt.

"Really? It doesn't look like it to me," Enkidu said, smiling.

At that moment, Gilgamesh opened his eyes, revealing a brighter red with three tomoe around them.

The [Sharingan].
