Chapter 53 - New Life DxD- Chapter 51

Some Days Later.

Gilgamesh's House.

It had been several days since Gilgamesh's battle against Riser and his reveal to the supernatural world.

The supernatural world was utterly shocked that there was a descendant of the King of Heroes who also possessed a Longinus inhabited by a Heavenly Dragon.

The supernatural world was essentially in a race to secure Gilgamesh as an ally, and the fact that he wasn't aligned with anyone only increased their chances.

A demon had already shown up at Gilgamesh's house and arrogantly tried to recruit him into their peerage, but, unsurprisingly, they were defeated.

The next day, Sirzechs received a stern warning that this should not happen again, and as proof, Gilgamesh sent the demon's body, chopped into pieces, in a box.

Currently, at Gilgamesh's house, more specifically in his bedroom, there were, surprisingly, three people.

In the center was a man with a perfect physique, golden blonde hair, and crimson eyes, exuding an aura of power and majesty.

This was Gilgamesh, the King of Heroes and the current Sekiryuutei.

To his left was a woman with long blonde hair and red eyes. She had a well-toned body and supernatural beauty.

This was Valérie Tepes, the host of the Longinus [Sephiroth Graal].

The reason she was there was that Gilgamesh and Valérie always—or at least most of the time—slept together since their first night.

To Gilgamesh's right was a young woman with the appearance of a beautiful woman with long, smooth, light blue hair, dark blue eyes, and a cold aura radiating from her beauty.

This was Tiamat in her human form. Somehow, Tiamat always managed to sneak into Gilgamesh's room at night and rest his head on her chest.

How she managed to do this? No one knew.

Gilgamesh opened his eyes slightly, adjusting to the sunlight. His body was a bit sore from the previous night's training.

Looking to his side, he saw Valérie stirring, almost waking up, and he smiled a little at that.

Looking to his other side, he saw Tiamat lying on his chest and sighed. How this woman managed to invade his room without him noticing was beyond him. Not that he was complaining—the feeling of her body was great—but it took all his self-control not to take her right then and there.

"Good morning, Gil," Valérie said, drawing Gilgamesh's attention back to her.

Smiling, he gave her a small kiss, and she smiled back.

"Good morning," she said, smiling.

Before he could say anything else, the bedroom door was forcefully kicked open by none other than Mordred.

The moment Mordred laid eyes on Gilgamesh, Valérie, and Tiamat, who were lying naked, her eyes widened, and she blushed.

"Y-y-you perverts!" Mordred shouted, summoning Clarent.

Clarent glowed with an electric shimmer, making Gilgamesh's eyes widen.

Mordred leaped with Clarent to strike them, causing Gilgamesh to push Tiamat away while grabbing Valérie in his arms and dodging the attack.

Mordred sliced the bed in half, but Tiamat was unharmed.

Mordred turned her gaze to Gilgamesh, who widened his eyes. Though Gilgamesh was wearing pants, the upper part of his body was still visible, making Mordred blush.

"Let's calm down, Mordred," Gilgamesh said, trying to soothe her.

But it had the opposite effect.

Mordred raised Clarent, which glowed with lightning.

Before Mordred could attack, Asia appeared at the door and widened her eyes.

"I-I want to join too!" Asia shouted, blushing, before running and jumping onto Gilgamesh, placing one of his hands on her chest.

"I-if it's you, it's okay," Asia said quietly, blushing.

Gilgamesh's eyes widened before looking at Mordred, who now had an even more furious expression.

Before Mordred could do anything, Arturia entered the room.

"You're taking too long, Gilgamesh…" Arturia's words died in her throat.

"A-Arturia, this isn't what you think," Gilgamesh said nervously.

Arturia looked at Gilgamesh's face, but her eyes scanned his body briefly, and she blushed slightly before taking a deep breath and summoning Excalibur.

"Die, perverts!" Arturia said, pointing Excalibur at them.

At that moment, Tiamat stood up and saw what was happening.

"Be quiet, I want to sleep," she said, making everyone turn to her in disbelief.

Some Time Later.

Currently, everyone was seated at the table, eating.

Gilgamesh, Valérie, Mordred, and Arturia were sitting at the table with lumps on their heads, courtesy of Sebas, who was annoyed at the mess they caused.

Enkidu and Tiamat were laughing at them, while Asia had an innocent smile.

Fenrir was lying on the rug next to Regulus, and Sebas was beside them, serving food.

Gilgamesh sighed, in a bad mood due to all the chaos.

Gilgamesh looked at a letter in front of him.

It was sent by a member of his fan club.

Gilgamesh was well-known by one of his nicknames.

The Golden Mage.

The Golden Mage was a genius mage who developed various magics and solved numerous unsolved problems, earning much admiration and even a fan club. They were among the few who knew his true identity and how to send him letters.

He had received several and always made a point to respond to each one personally, always finding the personal touch rewarding.

He saw one from a loyal fan, a girl named Le Fay, with no last name.

Gilgamesh had a slight suspicion about who this Le Fay might be but wouldn't jump to conclusions.

She usually wrote three to four times a month, so about once a week.

He always found writing to Le Fay engaging.

Gilgamesh looked at the letter Le Fay had written and read it to himself.

[Dear Gilgamesh-sama, I must first say I'm thrilled to know you've revealed yourself to the supernatural world and about the new magics you've created, as well as being very interested in your ice magic. I was also inspired by your specific articles on various types of magic, and I've been studying a lot. I'd love to show you one day. If I may ask a question, what precise calculations did you make to be able to use reverse magic without damaging the body and destroying abilities? I spoke with talented mages, and they're in the dark too. Thank you so much. From Le Fay.]

Gilgamesh looked at the letter and read it before starting to write his response.

Gilgamesh sighed after finishing and sending the response, returning to his thoughts about the previous days.

It had been a few days since his battle with Riser and his announcement to the supernatural world.

During those days, Gilgamesh spent most of his time training to control the abilities he gained as mission rewards.

[Name: Tori Tori No Mi: Phoenix Model]

-Type: Active.

-Level: 50/100

-Rarity: Super Rare.

-MP Cost: 0.

-Description: The Tori Tori No Mi, Model: Phoenix is a Mythical Zoan that allows the user to transform into a hybrid or full phoenix at will.

-Abilities: The user gains extreme regeneration abilities. They regenerate through blue flames. It was revealed by Oda that these blue flames, called by him the "Blue Fire of Rebirth," are not like ordinary fire, as they neither burn things nor feel hot, being completely different from the flames of the Mera Mera No Mi. It was also stated by Oda that regeneration has a limit. Additionally, the blue flames can be used to heal other beings, though to a more limited extent. It also grants enhanced physical abilities.

The user can utilize this Devil Fruit in three forms: hybrid form (human-animal), full form, and human form.

-Human Form: In this form, the user retains their normal appearance, with only the ability to create blue flames that regenerate them.

-Hybrid Form: In the hybrid form, the user gains large blue flame wings that replace their arms. They have also been seen transforming their legs.

-Full Form: When entering the full form, the user becomes a phoenix. In this form, they are practically untouchable, instantly regenerating any wounds.

Gilgamesh noted that the rewards he received were usually related to the mission. For example, he defeated Riser, a descendant of the Phenex Clan, and gained an ability to transform into a phoenix.

Gilgamesh admitted he liked this ability. Though the flames weren't powerful for attacking, it was still a useful power.

Though Gilgamesh was wary of eating a Devil Fruit since he already had one, everything turned out fine.

[Name: Sunshine]

-Type: Passive.

-Rarity: Mega Rare.

-Level: 56/100.

-MP Cost: 0.

-Description: Sunshine is a unique power possessed by the Lion's Sin of Pride, Escanor. It was later revealed that this power was originally one of the four graces given by the Supreme Deity to one of the Four Archangels, Mael.

This power is described as unlike any other seen. It is weakest at midnight and peaks at noon. Its power increases and decreases depending on how close it is to noon.

-Abilities: The closer it is to noon, the greater the user's strength, and their body begins to radiate intense waves of light and heat capable of melting metal stones. This ability is connected to the sun, the source of all life.

However, at night, the user's power drops drastically.

At noon, the user becomes The One, "the invincible reincarnation of power."

Gilgamesh admitted he was very impressed with this ability.

It was truly a powerful and uncontrollable ability.

Firstly, when Gilgamesh used this ability, he didn't gain muscle mass or increase in size; he only gained all the abilities Escanor and Mael were capable of using.

At night, when his power is at its lowest, Gilgamesh has his base power, and as dawn approaches, his power receives an amplification.

Gilgamesh admitted this power was incredible, and he had difficulty controlling it, so he usually kept it turned off when not using it.

The King of Heroes had even bought the Rhitta Axe through the system to help him.

[Name: Snatch]

-Level: 38/100

-Type: Active.

-Rarity: Rare.

-MP Cost: Varies.

-Description: Snatch is a power possessed by the Fox's Sin of Greed, Ban.

-Ability: Snatch allows its user to "steal" physical objects and the abilities of other creatures without making direct contact. "Stealing" objects seems to have the effect of preventing the object's movement and stopping the wielder from grabbing and pulling it. This ability can be used to disrupt the use of equipment during a battle. A downside is that while weapons become unusable, techniques that don't require movement are not restricted. The user can also steal the physical capabilities of their opponents, including speed, stamina, and brute strength, adding them to their own, enhancing themselves and weakening their adversaries. The amount of strength the user can steal is limited, as their body can only handle up to just before reaching maximum capacity.

Gilgamesh also admitted this ability was very useful, especially if he needed to steal his enemy's powers.

But those weren't the only abilities and rewards Gilgamesh had gained.

Surprisingly, there were two secret missions.

[Secret Quest]

[Title: Rising to the Top]

-Description: Reach level 100.

-Rewards: 1,000 Exp, 50,000 Gold, 2 get spins for Sacred Gear Longinus, Special Summoning Card.

First, the system received an update and gained a new option called "Lottery," which is essentially a roulette with various abilities related to different universes. To spin, you need a get spin, basically a token for a random ability or item.

When Gilgamesh used one of his tokens, a roulette appeared with the names of all the Longinus.

In the following order, their names appeared: True Longinus, Zenith Tempest, Annihilation Maker, Dimension Lost, Boosted Gear, Divine Dividing, Canis Lykaon, Regulus Nemea, Sephiroth Graal, Absolute Demise, Incinerate Anthem, Innovate Clear, and Telos Karma.

On a lottery wheel, the Longinus Zenith Tempest, Regulus Nemea, and Boosted Gear were grayed out because Gilgamesh already possessed them.

It was simple: whichever Longinus the roulette landed on, he would gain.

Gilgamesh questioned what would happen to the users of the Longinus that fell to him.

According to the system, if it landed on a Longinus belonging to someone important to the plot who had already done something significant, their Sacred Gear would be taken and given to Gilgamesh.

However, if it belonged to someone who hadn't done anything important to the plot, that person would be erased from existence in this world, and the Longinus would be transferred to Gilgamesh, as if he had been born with it.

The system is badass, partner.

Gilgamesh spun the roulette, and when it was about to land on [True Longinus], it shifted back and landed on [Telos Karma].

[Name: Telos Karma]

-Rarity: Super Rare.

-Type: Active.

-Description: Telos Karma, also known as Ultimate Karma, is a lower-tier Longinus.

In the past, several sudden incidents and inexplicable phenomena under normal circumstances by historians or researchers caused a shift in human history in places like Japan and Europe, caused by this Longinus in particular, earning the name "History Breaker."

-Abilities: Telos Karma has the ability to create and impose choices that are otherwise impossible by force. Telos Karma allows its user to manipulate causality. The control of chance: the relationship between cause and effect. They can determine exactly which action (cause) will result in a certain reaction (effect), allowing them to decide what, when, and how something happens without needing to specify the "why" something might happen, as the "why" is determined by causality itself, a process under the user's control. Essentially, it's a power capable of ignoring the enemy's power to achieve the desired results in every battle, allowing the user to control and alter events during combat to achieve the desired outcome.

It is said that Causality Manipulation is one of the powers closest to omnipotence.

[Balance Breaker - Locked - Secret conditions must be met]

Honestly, one of the coolest Longinus in Gilgamesh's opinion.

A good example is that the user could make the enemy trip during battle, make their weapons malfunction, or even make all of the enemy's attacks miss.

Let me give an example of this Longinus' power.

The user can use causality alteration to impale their enemy.

Much like the demonic spear Gae Bolg.

Ah, yes, now you're starting to understand how dangerous this power is.

Naming the attack initiated the cause (a spear that hits the enemy) and produced the desired effect (piercing the heart until death). In short, with Telos Karma, the spear ignored distance, the enemy's trained instincts, the robustness of their body, and the fragility of the ordinary spear, to pierce the enemy's heart and kill them.

This is because the cause and effect were already decided.

Although it's an extremely powerful and useful ability, it has its limits.

And it's considered a lower-tier Longinus because it lacks attack power. It can manipulate cause and effect to always hit the enemy, but if the user doesn't have enough strength to kill them, it's useless.

With his second token, Gilgamesh gained another Longinus.

[Name: Innovate Clear]

-Rarity: Rare.

-Type: Active.

-Description: Innovate Clear, also known as the Miniature Garden of the Green Tree of Innovation, is a lower-tier Longinus.

-Abilities: Innovate Clear has the ability to create an ideal world in another dimension, with the additional ability to create near-perfect imitations of living beings and objects, much like Annihilation Maker can. However, anything created within Innovate Clear's world can only exist in that world. Innovate Clear is essentially an idealized version of the Longinus Dimension Lost and Annihilation Maker.

[Balance Breaker - Locked - Secret conditions must be met]

This Longinus is very similar to a Reality Marble, allowing its user to create an artificial universe where the user can create any being or object from their imagination.

However, depending on the creation, it consumes more magical power and stamina.

A powerful ability, but the user cannot attack the real world, only bring their enemies into this world.

The coolest part is that in the world created by [Innovate Clear], [Telos Karma] decides the outcome.

Even cooler, the possessor of these two Longinus was the same person, Mitsuya Kanzaki, who wasn't the original user but somehow acquired these Longinus and could tap into some of their power.

He was called "The Man Who Represents God" because the powers of these Longinus gave him the ability to personify a god.

Even gods feared Mitsuya because of the power of these Longinus, and he was an extremely powerful human. Now, both were with Gilgamesh.

Mitsuya no longer exists.

The King of Heroes trained with them over the past few days and gained a good understanding of their powers and capabilities, but he was still far from unlocking the Balance Breaker.

Gilgamesh had also completed another secret mission.

[Title: The Emperor of the World Returns]

-Description: Reveal yourself to the entire supernatural world.

-Rewards: 1,400 Exp, 30,000 Gold, Authorities of Verethragna, Silver Arm Authority.

This was truly a mission Gilgamesh didn't expect, but it seems he had gained divine authorities from the world of Campione.

For those who don't know what an Authority is, I'll explain.

Authorities are the divine powers, attributes, qualities, and weapons of gods, heroes, demons, and monsters that make them invincible to ordinary humans.

Little is known about Authorities, except that they are the magic of the gods, far surpassing mortal magic, and are what gave them the right to rule. What is known is that a god's particular authorities are shaped by the myths and legends that originated them and reflect that god's history.

Basically, they are laws that grant power to the gods, and Gilgamesh obtained the Authorities of Verethragna, the Persian God of Victory, and Nuadha, a Celtic God.

Thus, Gilgamesh is a demigod capable of tapping into the powers of gods.

[Name: Authorities of the God of Victory Verethragna or Ten Incarnations]

-Level: Max.

-Rarity: Mega Rare.

-Type: Active.

-MP Cost: Varies.

-Description: According to his legend, Verethragna is a god of victories with ten incarnations. This power makes him an extremely versatile and powerful god in combat. He is also called the Invincible Warlord due to his power.

-Abilities: The abilities are defined in Ten Incarnations:

-Gale: Allows the user to manipulate wind and transform into wind to travel anywhere in the world instantly. This ability allows the user to summon and control storms.

-Bull: Grants the user super strength surpassing Hercules, who is said to have lifted the sky in his arms.

-White Stallion: The ability to create a second sun, equivalent to the real one, to use as a weapon against opponents. This ability has been shown to launch the entire star at once, perform a continuous spear-like attack, or create a pillar that traps the enemy.

-Camel: Enhances the user's hand-to-hand combat skills, granting incredible leg strength, suppressing pain, and providing extraordinary endurance. Senses are enhanced to the level of Mind's Eye, allowing the user to keep up with divine speed, and it can release energy bursts through kicks that can kill a god at maximum power.

-Boar: Summons a massive 50-meter-long boar. This boar emerges through a rift between the real and imaginary worlds and is said to be capable of crushing any object. It has seriously injured gods and moves at supersonic speeds casually, able to walk on water. Its roars can affect several kilometers and harm gods. At its peak, the flames on its back turn blue, reaching divine-comparable speed.

-Youth: Grants the ability to provide divine protection to those who swear loyalty to the user. It also allows Verethragna to give commands to anyone who sees him as a hero, which cannot be disobeyed. However, if they no longer see him as a hero, they can break free from his control.

-Raptor: The power of Divine Speed. When activated, the user enters a sort of alternate dimension where everything around them moves in slow motion, even beings faster than lightning appear in slow motion, and normal people are practically frozen. In this world, only users of this power can accelerate, capable of running at speeds comparable to light.

-Ram: Allows the user to resurrect from near-death injuries, though instant death would render it useless.

-Goat: The power to create/control lightning and storms. It is one of Verethragna's most used abilities and one of the most destructive.

-Warrior: Summons a golden sword that negates the divinity and power of any god. However, knowledge of the target god is required to use it.

The abilities of Verethragna, which earned him the title of Invincible Warlord.

It's worth noting that the ten incarnations can only be used one at a time.

Honestly, Gilgamesh really liked these abilities, especially if his enemies were gods, though he thinks the original Gilgamesh wouldn't approve of him relying on divine powers.

Gilgamesh loved this ability because he was a big fan of the Persian God of Victory.

And it seemed Verethragna existed in this world, so he would likely sense the power in Gilgamesh, though only the aura, as the Verethragna of this world doesn't have these powers.

So, the system altered it so that these Authorities belong exclusively to Gilgamesh, and Verethragna cannot track them.

[Name: Silver Arm Authority]

-Level: Max.

-Type: Active.

-Rarity: Super Rare.

-MP Cost: Varies.

-Description: This authority belongs to the Tuatha Dé Danann god Nuadha, granting a silver arm that can transform any object—from a sword to a toothpick—into an invincible sword capable of cutting anything: spells, ectoplasm, or an entire stone fortress. Even a laser beam can be deflected with minimal effort. It can also increase the sword's size and length, amplify the pain of the wound it inflicts, and even release explosive bursts upon impact. Wounds created by these blades do not heal easily, even for gods. Not only can the sword cut anything, but when it strikes something, it can spread its cutting power to destroy the surrounding area. The silver arm can release a mystical silver substance to coat the blade, greatly increasing its size. The blade coated in this mercury-like metal retains its cutting power when thrown at an enemy, acting as an invincible dart.

This was definitely one of the best abilities Gilgamesh had gained.

He became even more overpowered than he already was.

An ability that could turn even a wooden toothpick into an invincible sword—imagine if it were used with Durandal.

Gilgamesh also decided to spend some of his accumulated money on another ability.

[Name: Unlimited Weapons Works]

-Level: Max.

-Rarity: Mega Rare.

-Type: Active.

-MP Cost: Varies.

-Description: This ability is an evolved version of Unlimited Blade Works. It allows the user to copy any weapon they see, replicating not only its abilities and techniques but also its entire history, as well as allowing the user to modify them. The main difference between these abilities is that the copied weapons are as powerful as the originals, to the point that there is no difference between them. This ability also allows the user to create a Reality Marble where all these weapons are stored.

This ability is basically an improved version of Unlimited Blade Works, but the created weapons are as strong as the originals.

I even considered getting Unlimited Blade Works, but I have my pride.

I am the King of Heroes, the man known for collecting all the original treasures of the world.

It would kind of go against my character to get an ability that copies weapons, so I chose one that creates weapons as powerful as the originals.

Gilgamesh sighed, not even noticing he had been lost in thought.

"Gil, are you okay?" Enkidu asked, looking at Gilgamesh.

"Yeah, I was just thinking a bit," Gilgamesh said, standing up.

Gilgamesh looked at Mordred.

"Let's go," Gilgamesh said, referring to school, making Mordred stand up while grumbling.

Before leaving, Gilgamesh turned to everyone.

"Guys, after I get back, we'll summon another Servant," Gilgamesh said to everyone, who nodded.

Unknown Location.

With the sun shining above them, two siblings were walking through what seemed to be a field.

One was a young man with blonde hair tied in a small braid, wearing glasses that almost hid his blue eyes, dressed in a business suit, and beside him, an elegant-looking sword. It exuded some kind of holy aura, looking very beautiful, and to demons and other dark creatures, it was a kind of nightmare.

The other was a girl who looked about 15 years old, with shoulder-length blonde hair and blue eyes, with a cute charm to her. She wore a school uniform with a gray blazer with blue checkered details on the wrists and waist, over a plain white shirt and a black tie. She also wore a standard school skirt, along with a blue cape covered in scattered stars, and on the right inner side of the cape was the symbol of a golden lion with a crown—the magical symbol of the Golden Mage. She also wore a rather pointed wizard hat.

"So, Le Fay, did you send your messages to Gilgamesh-sama?" the boy asked Le Fay.

"Yes, Onii-sama, and he sent me lots of interesting formulas," Le Fay replied cheerfully to her brother, named Arthur, who smiled.

"I wonder if I could fight Gilgamesh-sama. You'd be okay with that, right, Le Fay?" Arthur asked.

"Fighting Gilgamesh-sama? W-Well, I have no objections. I'm sure Gilgamesh-sama would love to study your holy sword. He likes a lot of things, you know? He loves Sacred Gears, holy and demonic swords, different types of magic. He even found a way to use Reverse without damaging the body, you know? I'd love to know the secrets. Gilgamesh-sama must be very smart to figure that out," Le Fay said cheerfully.

Then Le Fay pulled out a map.

"Are we getting close to the possible location of Excalibur Ruler, Onii-sama?"

Arthur took in what was said for a moment before tilting his head.

"According to some contacts, it might be here. It's been lost for many years, so no one knows exactly, but I have some leads. Anyway, let's move forward."

"Alright then, Onii-sama!"

Le Fay cheered happily and began following her older brother again, while looking joyfully at the letter she received from Gilgamesh.

Some Time Later.

Currently, after class, Gilgamesh was back home with his friends.

The class had been normal; he even talked with Sona, and the Devil thanked him for helping Rias.

Rias also thanked him but got the wrong idea that Gilgamesh saved her because he was in love with her—what an idiot. After some conversation and a call to Sirzechs, Rias learned the truth and seemed sad.

Not that Gilgamesh cared.

Gilgamesh and everyone were now seated in the living room because Gilgamesh was about to summon another Servant.

Gilgamesh was only summoning now because he had gained the summoning card and already had in mind who to summon.

A golden portal opened beside Gilgamesh, and from it emerged a massive spear, longer than Gilgamesh's height. The spearhead alone was a meter long and was so large it would be impossible for a human to wield. It used its sharp tip and great weight in heavy attacks.

This spear was Vasavi Shakti: O Sun, Abide to Death.

It was the spear that the King of the Hindu Gods, Indra, granted to the Hero of Charity, Karna.

Naturally, this spear wasn't in Gilgamesh's [Gate of Babylon] because it had never been used before and thus wasn't recognized in legends.

However, Gilgamesh had obtained this spear through the system.

Everyone's eyes widened when they saw the spear, feeling the divine power emanating from it.

Gilgamesh summoned his summoning card and placed it on the spear.

[Do you wish to use "Vasavi Shakti: O Sun, Abide to Death" as a catalyst?]

Gilgamesh nodded, and a massive explosion appeared in front of him.

When the dust settled, a figure was revealed.

It was a young man with long, disheveled white hair that almost seemed transparent. His gaze was sharp as a steel blade, with a red gem embedded in his chest, emitting a captivating glow. What stood out most was the set of golden armor fused with him, radiating a divine shine. Though each part was beautiful on its own, when combined, they exuded far more ferocity than attractiveness.

Gilgamesh instantly recognized who it was.

It was Karna, the Son of the Sun God Surya, the invulnerable hero of the Indian epic Mahabharata, a hero on the losing side. The central conflict of the Mahabharata is the war for influence between the royal Pandava family and the royal Kaurava family. Karna became famous as Arjuna's rival, the great hero of Hindu mythology.

"I have come in response to your call. Servant of the Lancer class, I am Karna, son of the Sun God Surya," Karna said, opening his eyes and looking at everyone. "Are you my Master?"

Gilgamesh could only smile at this.
