Chapter 52 - New Life DxD- Chapter 50

Some Time Later.

Gilgamesh was currently following Tiamat silently, after his victory against Riser and his peerage. Tiamat claimed that three of the four Satans wished to speak with him. When he asked what they wanted, Tiamat said she honestly didn't know. Gilgamesh could tell Tiamat was being honest, but she seemed somewhat pleased with how he had dealt with that spoiled brat's peerage.

After the battle, Gilgamesh had met with Tiamat, who told him they should go meet the Demon Kings, and honestly, it was helpful, as Gilgamesh didn't want any noble demons trying to recruit him into their peerage. Gilgamesh also told his friends to wait for him outside.

Gilgamesh also knew that from now on, his life would no longer be peaceful, as all supernatural beings in the world would now know of his existence and would come after him. Well, he never really had a normal life anyway.

Power attracts power, after all.

"Gilgamesh-kun? Is everything alright? You've been awfully quiet," Tiamat asked gently. Though she absolutely despised Ddraig, she genuinely enjoyed Gilgamesh's company, especially the warmth his body provided at night.

How she managed to sneak into his room and lie beside him without him noticing was something even Gilgamesh didn't understand.

"It's nothing, Tiamat, just thinking about life a bit," Gilgamesh said softly to her.

Gilgamesh also noticed that several of the maids they passed were giving him looks of pure fear or lust. It was starting to get on his nerves. I mean, they were demonic beings based on sin and all sorts of negative emotions. One would think they'd be worshipping him like a god instead of avoiding him for his brutal battle tactics.

"What are you going to do about the Demon Kings' offer, Gilgamesh-kun?" Tiamat asked curiously.

"I'll think it over, Tiamat. I've always been a free spirit that no one can control. It all depends on what they say," Gilgamesh explained to her.

Tiamat sighed.

"Just be careful with what you decide. Either way, I'll still be your familiar," Tiamat said, smiling.

"I'll be careful. But know this, Tiamat, no matter what happens to me, it won't change anything between you and me. You're one of the few friends I've ever had, and that's something I don't want to lose," Gilgamesh said before leaning forward and giving Tiamat a small kiss on her forehead.

This action made Tiamat step back in shock and surprise, as she could only stare at Gilgamesh with a look of astonishment. Her cheeks were starting to warm as a slight blush appeared on her skin. She gave Gilgamesh a playful look, and he simply smiled back at her. He was enjoying this, and she knew it, and worst of all, she didn't know if it was a genuine kiss or if he was just teasing her.

With Sirzechs, Serafall, and Ajuka.

Sirzechs, along with Serafall and Ajuka, were waiting patiently in Sirzechs' office. They were waiting for Tiamat to bring Gilgamesh so they could discuss their plans for him. And they were confident that their plan to make him an ally of their Faction would never backfire. Unfortunately, they didn't know Gilgamesh as well as they thought.

"Where's Tiamat? She should already be here with Gil-chan," Serafall's childish voice broke the silence in the room. While Sirzechs chuckled, Ajuka rolled his eyes at Gilgamesh's new pet name. Yes, Serafall would be the first to die by Gilgamesh's hands.

"I don't think he'll like that nickname, Serafall. He doesn't seem like the type to let others give him nicknames like that," Ajuka murmured quietly while tinkering with his tablet-like device.

"Aju-chan! Don't be like that, I'm sure he'll love it!" Serafall whined comically as the more serious Satan rolled his eyes. Sirzechs simply chuckled softly. However, a knock on the door caught the attention of the three Satans in the room.

"Come in!"

Gilgamesh and Tiamat entered the room. Tiamat glanced nervously at Ajuka, who gave her a nod of acknowledgment before returning to his tablet. Sirzechs gave Gilgamesh and Tiamat a kind smile while gesturing for them to sit, which they did.

"Greetings, Gil-chan, I'm Serafall Leviathan, and I'm glad you accepted our invitation! But you can call me Levia-tan!" Serafall exclaimed with pure joy.

Tiamat cringed at the volume of Serafall's voice. Gilgamesh simply raised an eyebrow at this.

"Pleased to meet you, Serafall," Gilgamesh said with a smile that made Serafall blush.

Sirzechs laughed a bit, causing Serafall to pout and sit back down.

Gilgamesh turned his gaze to Sirzechs.

"I believe you had something you wanted to discuss with me, Sirzechs-san," Gilgamesh said to Sirzechs, who nodded.

"First, thank you for helping my sister. I'm grateful from the bottom of my heart," Sirzechs said, smiling.

Gilgamesh nodded and noticed that Ajuka and Serafall didn't seem surprised by this news, so they likely already knew.

"So, I'd like to know what the three requests you want are?" Sirzechs asked, with everyone turning their attention to Gilgamesh.

"I want you to free Rias' bishop, Gasper Vladi, so I can talk to him," Gilgamesh said.

Everyone quickly turned their attention to this.

"Mind if I ask why?" Sirzechs asked, curiosity piqued.

"You know Valérie, right?" Gilgamesh said to Sirzechs, who nodded. "She's a Dhampir and Gasper's older sister, and one of the reasons we moved to Kuoh was so she could reunite with him," Gilgamesh said, to everyone's great surprise.

Sirzechs indeed knew that his sister's bishop had an older sister but hadn't imagined she'd be with Gilgamesh.

"While it's an important request, I really can't do that," Sirzechs said nervously.

Gilgamesh narrowed his eyes.

"Why?" Gilgamesh asked dangerously.

"Rias' bishop can't control his power, which is why he was sealed," Sirzechs explained.

"And why didn't you teach him to control it? He's been with you for years," Gilgamesh said to Sirzechs.

Ajuka snorted at this.

"That's what I said, but Sirzechs thought it was too dangerous for his dear sister. He could've been a great help in the battle against Riser," Ajuka said to Sirzechs, who laughed sheepishly.

"Sorry about that, Gilgamesh-kun, but Gasper will be freed in a few weeks, so he can reunite with his sister. That won't count as one of your requests," Sirzechs said to Gilgamesh, who nodded.

Though a bit sad for Valérie, Gilgamesh understood.

"So, is there anything else you want?" Sirzechs asked.

"No, nothing for now. Now, why did you want me to come here? I doubt it's just for this," Gilgamesh said to them.

"I'd like to offer you something," Sirzechs said to Gilgamesh, who narrowed his eyes.

"I hope you're not talking about joining your peerage?" Gilgamesh said to them.

Surprisingly, Sirzechs shook his head.

"Before, I wanted that, but now I know you wouldn't accept it. And that would be like mocking you, after all, you're the descendant of the King of Heroes and the current Sekiryuutei. You wouldn't bow to anyone like that," Sirzechs said seriously.

That was true. Sirzechs knew Gilgamesh would never do something like that; their brief encounters had shown him that.

And Sirzechs also doubted there was any demon capable of reincarnating Gilgamesh.

Gilgamesh had fully mastered the power of the Heavenly Dragon of Domination, Ddraig, which already put him in a class of his own.

And Sirzechs also felt Gilgamesh's power when he looked into his eyes. Sirzechs felt the power of the King of Heroes.

When Sirzechs looked at him, he felt Gilgamesh's magical power—it was like staring into a vast abyss that swallowed everything in its path. It was undoubtedly one of the most terrifying experiences of his life.

And because of that, Sirzechs knew it wouldn't be possible to reincarnate him as a demon.

Only a mutated Queen piece could reincarnate him, but even Serafall and Falbium didn't have the power to do that.

So, only he and Ajuka remained, but both already had their Queen pieces—Sirzechs' being his wife, Grayfia, and Ajuka's being Falak, the Snake King of the Realm of the Dead.

And because of that, Sirzechs had to resort to another option.

"And because of that, we're pleased to offer you the chance to become one of the Mages who contract with us," Sirzechs said to Gilgamesh.

Gilgamesh raised a skeptical eyebrow.

"A contract mage?" Gilgamesh asked.

"Before we continue, let me ask, do you know how Mages and Demons work?"

"Not really… I only knew they were supposed to be partners or something like that, but that's it," Gilgamesh replied.

"You're right, that's what most people know, but the nature of the contract mages make isn't something so basic," Sirzechs corrected. "Instead, the nature of the contract aims to help both the mage and the demon deepen their knowledge of magic."

"Additional knowledge? You mean founding a new branch of Magic or something like that?" Gilgamesh asked, and Sirzechs nodded.

"Yes, you could say that," Sirzechs confirmed. "As you know, mages use calculations and formulas to wield their power and create spells."

"As you can see, Gilgamesh-kun, unlike magic, which relies on formulas and calculations, demonic power, like ours, relies on imagination. Demonic power can be shaped in almost any form, depending on the devil's own skill, but the cost of using it is much higher than magic," Sirzechs explained to him.

"So it's like going from point 'A' to point 'C' without stopping at point 'B' along the way?" Gilgamesh asked, and Sirzechs nodded again.

"Exactly," the Maou confirmed. "There are three basic reasons mages contract with demons: protection, to acquire items or techniques from the Underworld, and for status."

The moment Gilgamesh heard this, his mind quickly grasped what Sirzechs was offering, and Sirzechs caught a glimpse of it through his eyes.

"Yes, Gilgamesh-kun. I'm not asking you to be my peer or servant, no. That would be a mockery of you," Sirzechs said firmly. "I'm offering you to stand by my side, to stand beside a Maou. I'm offering you wealth, treasure, and respect. The moment you become a mage who contracts with us, you'll be seen as someone equal to the Maou himself, equal to one of us, surpassing even my sister and Serafall here."

The offer Sirzechs made to him truly caught Gilgamesh off guard; inwardly, he was genuinely shocked. This offer was almost like being asked to be a Ruler of the Underworld, someone like Sirzechs himself. For any mage, it would be like a blessing from Heaven… or perhaps Hell, considering it was Lucifer himself making the offer.

And more than that, Lucifer wasn't asking him to be his subordinate but to be his equal. Someone who stands by his side and works together as equals. He was being offered a kingdom here.

"That's quite surprising," Gilgamesh said. This was certainly something he hadn't imagined.

"I imagine, but you're free to choose who you want to partner with—it could be me, Ajuka Beelzebub, Falbium Asmodeus, or Serafall here," he said, gesturing to Serafall, who smiled at the mention of her name.

"Gil-kun! Pick me! Pick me!" Serafall squirmed in her chair, raising her hand like a schoolchild who knew the answer to a test. "Together, we'll create a better world, a magical girl and a hero, together with our ice magic!" she declared, smiling happily.

Serafall really wanted to learn about the origin of Gilgamesh's ice magic; it would be absolutely incredible for her.

"Hmm… It's quite an offer," Gilgamesh began, and Sirzechs smiled, believing he might have sealed the deal with Gilgamesh. "However, I feel there's a 'but' here somewhere," Gilgamesh said as Sirzechs frowned.

"Ah, a thinker and not just a brainless brute. That's a nice change of pace. Yes, what Sirzechs forgot to mention is that you'd have to answer to us. It's not a big deal—just when we have a mission for you or if you need to go somewhere, you can always inform Tiamat instead of coming down to the Underworld, since she's a familiar and works for me," Ajuka explained calmly.

Gilgamesh considered it for a moment.

"It's a good offer, but I refuse," Gilgamesh said to them, who stared at him seriously.

"It's not like I'm being rude or anything, but one thing you should know is that I'm not on anyone's side. I'm on my own side," Gilgamesh said, staring firmly at the Maou. "I didn't mean to be rude, but there may come a time in the future when we become enemies. I don't serve anyone because I follow the path I've forged for myself," Gilgamesh said to them.

Everyone became serious and silent.

"Then let me ask you something. Are you an enemy of the Underworld?" Ajuka asked seriously.

"I'm not your enemy, nor am I interested in that. I was annoyed by what Rias tried to do to me. But if you don't do anything against me, I won't do anything against you," Gilgamesh said calmly.

"Very well then. I knew the look you gave me meant you were serious. I'll respect your decision and won't pressure you," Sirzechs said indifferently. Honestly, he never expected Gilgamesh to accept in the first place, so he wasn't surprised. "However, know that if you change your mind, you can talk to us," he said, and Gilgamesh nodded. "Well, I suppose at the end of our meeting, do you have any questions or anything for me?"

"I have nothing," Gilgamesh said before standing up and signaling for Tiamat to follow him. Gilgamesh turned his back, activated his [Rinnegan], and used his [Space-Time Portal] ability to warp reality and create a portal right there, to everyone's astonishment.

"See you later," Gilgamesh said before stepping into the portal and disappearing.

All the Demon Kings stared at the spot where the portal had been.

"A space-time technique? Impressive," Ajuka said, surprised.

"What a shame he didn't accept," Serafall said sadly.

"Don't worry, you can meet him later, Serafall. After all, you have a crush on him," Ajuka said, teasing her.

Serafall shot him a glare, her face flushed.

"I don't have a crush on him," Serafall said quickly.

It's not like he was a master of ice magic and also extremely handsome and attractive.

That definitely wasn't why.

Sirzechs just laughed at their banter.

The world seemed like it was going to change.

And Sirzechs was very eager to see it.

Grigori, Underworld.

Grigori is an organization created by Azazel and the Cadre Fallen Angels who fell from the grace of the Biblical God in Heaven after giving in to their impure thoughts.

Azazel was sitting in his chair in his office at Grigori, watching a television screen.

On that screen was the battle between Gilgamesh and Riser Phenex.

How did Azazel get to see this fight? Well, let's just say a demon's greed can outweigh even their loyalty—a little money is enough to make them switch sides.

When Azazel found out that Sirzechs' sister had lost the battle, he knew the Crimson Demon King would do something to save his sister from the marriage, and his bet was on Gilgamesh, and it seemed he had been right.

Azazel couldn't help but feel extremely surprised by the power Gilgamesh displayed. He was undoubtedly extremely powerful, even without the [Boosted Gear].

Looking ahead, Azazel saw a handsome young man with light silver hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a dark green V-neck shirt with a high-collared black leather jacket over it. He also wore burgundy jeans with a silver chain draped over them, black leather chaps with three straps around his right calf, and black shoes with black buckles.

This was Vali Lucifer, a descendant of the original Lucifer and the wielder of the Longinus, [Divine Dividing], host to the Vanishing Dragon, Albion. As such, he was Gilgamesh and Ddraig's direct rival.

"So, what do you think of your rival, Vali?" Azazel asked his adopted son.

The descendant of the original Lucifer smiled.

"Very impressive. I wouldn't expect less from my rival, would you, Albion?" Vali asked aloud with a proud smile.

From Vali's back emerged a pair of white dragon wings with eight "feathers" of energy.

[Yes, Vali. Ddraig has certainly found an impressive host,] said a voice coming from the wings of light.

This was Albion, one of the Two Heavenly Dragons and Ddraig's archrival. He is called the White Dragon, also known as the Vanishing Dragon, Albion Gwiber, the White Dragon Emperor, and the White Dragon Emperor of Supremacy. He currently resides within the Longinus, [Divine Dividing], wielded by Vali Lucifer.

"I'm really surprised you're not heading there right now to fight him," Azazel said in a teasing tone.

"I don't wish to fight him now… Maybe a small spar, yes. But a fight to the death? No, I don't want that, not yet," Vali said with a smile.

"Oh…" Azazel raised an eyebrow. "Care to share?"

"I don't want to fight someone who's not at their full power yet," Vali replied, shrugging. "We're both still young; we still have plenty of time. Add to that the fact that we're the only users of the Heavenly Dragons who aren't influenced by their hatred, as you've told me as well."

"No… When we fight, it will be glorious. It will be a battle that makes the world remember the power of the Heavenly Dragon once again. A battle that will bring out the full form of our Sacred Gear! A battle that will be etched in history to be remembered forever!

"For now, I won't fight him. Not yet; neither of us is ready… But maybe in the future… Sooner or later, we will be," Vali finished with a mischievous smile of excitement.

Azazel could only stare, a bit surprised.

His adopted son seemed thrilled to discover who his rival was.

This was a good change.

Azazel couldn't wait to see how all this would unfold.

Unknown Location.

In an unknown location, within a vast ruin, six people stood in front of a screen.

On that screen was a recording of Gilgamesh's battle against Riser.

"So, what do you think?" asked a handsome young man with short black hair and blue eyes. He wore a combination of a Japanese school uniform (specifically, the gakuran worn by Japanese students in the fall) and ancient Chinese attire. He held a spear in his hand.

"He's definitely worth it. We should recruit him," said another young man with black hair and glasses. He wore a combination of a Japanese school uniform (specifically, the gakuran worn by Japanese students in the fall) and a mage-style robe over his uniform with a feathered cape.

"I bet it'd be a great fight against him, after all, he's the descendant of the King of Heroes," said a smiling two-meter-tall man with a well-built physique and shoulder-length gray hair. He wore what appeared to be a Japanese school uniform (specifically, the gakuran typically worn by Japanese students in the fall), covered by what could be Greek-inspired armor.

"You've known him longer; what do you think?" the young man with the spear asked.

"He'll agree. He loves humans just like we do. It'll be amazing to fight alongside him again," said a handsome young man with silver-white hair and red eyes, smiling nostalgically. He wore a gakuran and, over it, a priest's coat. He also wore a belt that held his six swords around his waist and legs, forming a sword skirt.

The young man with the spear turned to the only woman in the group, a beautiful foreign girl with blonde hair and sky-blue eyes. She wore a gakuran with armor over it.

"I don't know if he'll agree, but it'd be amazing to stand by his side again," the girl said with a fond smile at the image of the golden-haired man.

The man with white hair and red eyes rolled his eyes.

"Of course, because you love him," he said sarcastically to the girl, who blushed and looked away.

Everyone laughed a little.

"Alright, everyone, let's handle our business, and then we'll recruit a powerful ally," said the man with the spear.

"Yes, Cao Cao," everyone said to their leader.

The man with the spear was Cao Cao, the leader of the Hero Faction of the Khaos Brigade. He was the wielder of the Ultimate Longinus, [True Longinus]. He was also a descendant of Cao Cao from the Three Kingdoms era.

Cao Cao smiled at this.

Soon, they would have a powerful ally to fight against supernatural beings.

And finally, humanity would prevail.

Unknown Location.

In an unknown location, high above the skies stood a gigantic palace, entirely made of gold and adorned with various jewels.

It was a divine palace emanating the energy of the gods.

At its center was a throne entirely made of gold, worthy of a king, and seated on the throne was a being.

It was hard to define its appearance, as it wasn't human and resembled a jackal.

The temple's doors were blasted open by a wave of divine energy, making the being seated on the throne sigh.

Then, the one responsible for destroying the door approached the man seated on the throne.

It was a woman with black hair and red eyes, her long black hair tied into two ponytails with black ribbons. On top of her head was a black and gold tiara, along with a matching gold choker and "O"-shaped earrings.

Her clothing was very revealing, with her top being a white bra with gold trim that exposed some cleavage, along with the lower part of her back and stomach. On her hips was a black and gold thong adorned with jewels that nestled deeply between her buttocks, exposing a large portion of her rear and legs. She also wore a black thigh-high stocking with gold accents on her right leg, and her left ankle had a gold bracelet. Her left arm was equipped with a black and gold glove covering her forearm, while her right arm had a gold bracelet around it.

"So, why did you call me here, Father? I was busy," said the woman, whose aura revealed her to be a goddess.

"I have a mission for you," said the being before her.

"A mission?! Why do I have to do it? Ask someone else," said the goddess, turning to leave.

"A descendant of the King of Uruk, Gilgamesh, has appeared," said the being, causing the woman to stop.

"A descendant of the golden boy?" the woman shouted in disbelief.

"Yes. And that's why I want you to go and convince him to join our Faction," said the man. The woman was about to complain, but he spoke first: "I'll give you all the jewels you want if you complete the task."

The woman paused for a moment.

Not only would she gain all the jewels she desired, but she would also get revenge on the descendant of the man who scorned her.

It was perfect!

"Alright, Father, you have a deal," said the woman.

"And take your sister too," said the being, making the woman stare at him in disbelief.

"Why?! I'm more than enough," she said/shouted angrily.

"He's not just the descendant of Gilgamesh but also the Sekiryuutei," said the being, causing the woman to stare at him in shock.

"This is an order, Ishtar," said the being, revealing the true name of the goddess.

Ishtar is the goddess of beauty, good harvests, war, lust, discord, and fertility in Mesopotamian/Sumerian/Babylonian mythology, and one of many mother goddesses whose power derives from Mother Earth. She is said to be the most spoiled—or rather, the most beloved—goddess among other deities. Her Sumerian divine name was said to be Inanna, and that is actually her oldest name. Ishtar is her Akkadian divine name, meaning "The Lady of Heaven." A goddess of Venus, a goddess who governs good harvests that bring prosperity to the people, and even a goddess who governs war and destruction, she is a great goddess who, among goddesses, was granted many rights and authorities by the gods.

The goddess who, in the past, fell in love with Gilgamesh but was rejected and then unleashed the most powerful divine beast, the Bull of Heaven, to destroy the King of Uruk.

The main culprit behind Enkidu's death.

"Alright, King of the Sumerian Gods, Anu," Ishtar said to her father.

Anu is Ishtar's father, the divine personification of the sky, supreme god, and ancestor of all deities in ancient Mesopotamian religion. Anu was considered the supreme source of all authority for the other gods and all mortal rulers, and he is described in one text as the one "who contains the entire universe."

Ishtar turned and left with a malicious smile on her face.

She would make the descendant of the man who scorned her kneel before her and beg to serve her.

After all, as the saying goes: Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

With Gilgamesh.

Gilgamesh was walking through the corridors with his friends, heading home.

Valérie seemed a bit sad because she couldn't see her brother Gasper yet, but Gilgamesh assured her he would make that reunion happen as soon as possible.

Everyone was walking calmly, though Mordred was sulky and angry for not having fought.

Enkidu stepped forward a bit and spoke to Gilgamesh.

"Are you sure that was the right decision?" Enkidu asked.

Now, with this announcement about Gilgamesh, the entire supernatural world would know about him and come after him to recruit him.

Enkidu wouldn't be surprised if there were already people planning on it.

"Don't worry, Enkidu, everything will work out," Gilgamesh said to Enkidu, who narrowed his eyes.

"Are you sure?" Enkidu asked, still wary.

"Don't worry, Enkidu, and any being that comes to challenge us, we'll simply drive them away," Gilgamesh said to them.

Enkidu sighed and nodded.

"Just be careful, Gil," Enkidu said to Gilgamesh, who nodded.

"Don't worry, my friend, everything will fall into place," Gilgamesh said, smiling.

The world was undergoing many changes.

And Gilgamesh would be part of many of them.
