Lucian's POV
Getting to the meeting location was a nightmare.
Stonewall had descended into chaos. Protesters lined every street, some holding signs demanding supernatural registration, others calling for outright extermination. News vans from Crimson Network, Sentinel Broadcasting, and Aurora Media crowded the roads, their reporters shouting questions at anyone who looked remotely suspicious.
"Are you one of them?" a woman screamed at our car as we inched through traffic. "Are you a monster?"
Elias gripped the steering wheel tighter, his knuckles going white. "This is insane."
"It's only going to get worse," I said, watching as a group of men overturned a parked car, convinced the owner was a vampire. The owner was just a terrified human trying to get home.
