It had been too long.
Too long in this darkness. Too long in this cave. Too long waiting for the moment that had been promised, the moment that had been building since the first shadow lycan drew breath and felt the corruption take root.
I crouched in the deepest part of the cave, where no light had touched in years. Where the air itself tasted of decay and ancient malice. My form, if it could still be called that, was barely distinguishable from the shadows that writhed around me. They had swallowed me completely, consumed every part of what I once was until there was nothing left but purpose. Dark purpose.

I remembered running beneath the full moon, remembered the joy of the hunt, the pack bonds that sang through my blood. But that was before He touched me. Before Malevolent's corruption seeped into my soul and transformed me into something else. Something more.
